The week had been very busy. Chuuya had overtime for all six days of work, and came back at two in the morning, leaving at seven, so he basically had no time to talk to his mate, it was very tiring.
So, when he was woken up in the morning on his only day off work, he was justifiably angry. Just as Chuuya was about to scream at Dazai, a low whine caught his attention, it was Yousuke, their kid. Deciding that he actually needed to stay with his family instead of sleeping, he got up.
They had breakfast together. It's interesting when his kid is eating from a cat feeder and cannot talk to you in a way you understand, but he's still Chuuya's kid. He turned to Dazai, “How's the training going?” Chuuya said as he put another mouthful of rice in his mouth. “It's going pretty nice, tbh. Look at what he can already do!” Dazai smiled, turning to Yousuke, who, realizing he was the center of attention, stopped eating to stare at his fathers. “Yousuke! Can you show papa what you showed me yesterday?” He said, voice sweet and slow, to help his child's understanding. “D-dada..” a squeaky voice said, it sounded so very cute and sweet, like roasted marshmallows on a cold winter night on the peak of mountain Oeyama. Chuuya's mouth sat agape, hashi slipping from his fingers. The sweet child was smiling as Dazai gave him a part of his food as a treat.
A low warble caught his attention, drawing him out of his stupor, Chuuya may not know fox language, but he clearly recognized that tone from his mate. Yousuke was definitely feeling like he didn't get enough attention, especially from Chuuya. So the oni started petting him, the child was murmuring as he was petted, that until something else happened. “Hmhnmh.. li-like wawawawawa..” The words drew out of him, mimicking what Dazai always says to him. As he looked to the taller one, he realized that this was a first, so, being a good father he smiled. “Yousuke likes this? It feels very good, right~ just like this..” as he continued petting the fox, more “like” sounds came out, clearer and clearer, Chuuya was feeling like he won the world, this was what happiness really felt like.

Later, during the day, Yousuke was very vocal, saying stuff, like “like” and “dada” so much that it started being normal, almost no stuttering at all. It was the cutest thing Chuuya had ever seen. The little one was warbling and mixing in the two words.
The child had been fast asleep when, on the couch, the two mates were laying in blissful silence. Dazai was grooming (licking) Chuuya in his fox form, as the Oni was massaging his scalp with his long claws, reaching every good spot on the Kitsune’s head.
“Thank you” he murmured, making Dazai stop, looking at him with a questioning look. Chuuya huffed, not even opening his eyes, but knowing exactly his mate's look. “For.. waking me up, for letting me have this wonderful day with my family. I know I wouldn't have had this, had I woken up at noon, which I would if I continued sleeping. So, thank you, I love you.” He said, smiling, as he opened his eyes, a soft glow turned his deep brown into the shade of earth bathed in sun, and his sea blue eyes turned as light as a beautiful sunny day.
“I love you more and more and more and mooooore than you!” Dazai said, licking his mate's face as he repeated “more”. In the end, both yokai were laughing together, the evening shades of pink and purple casting a soft homey glow inside, lulling them into a soft sleep.
