1-A did not know what to think of Todoroki Shouto

Summary:

Shouto was truly alone and he knew it was his own fault, because he was just like his father. So Shouto stayed quiet. It was hard to talk when things sounded so differently and his father shamed him constantly whenever he messed up his words. It was hard to talk when no one wanted to listen. So he kept to himself and did what he was tasked to do. He trained and he studied until he ended up at Yuuei.

or

Shouto gets to Yuuei and realizes its okay to ask for help

Notes:

this concept has been in my mind for a while! personally it just made sense to me that Todoroki didn’t just get a nasty burn from his face after the accident and i wanted to explore how he would cope with hearing loss and partial blindness. hope u guys like it!

Chapter 1: Shouta finds out about Shouto

Chapter Text

It was a Saturday morning when Shouta Aizawa finally decided to take a look at his class list for the upcoming school year. He skimmed over the names without much interest, most of his focus was on his cup of coffee, something he desperately needed these days. It was only until he reached a certain name on the list did his eyes widen and he had accidentally burned his tongue. The man cursed under his breath, placing the mug down before his eyes returned to the paper, double checking to see if his eyes had deceived him.

Todoroki Shouto.

Well would you look at that. The prodigal son of the number #2 hero of the entirety of Japan enrolling at Yuuei. Had that much time passed already?

Endeavor was pretty secretive of his family. The most that people knew was that he had four kids, and the eldest, Touya Todoroki, had passed away in a terrible quirk accident when he had turned thirteen. That and his wife, Rei Todoroki was currently cooped up in some mental hospital due to some psychotic break that she had suffered through shortly after the death of her eldest son. No one really knew much about the youngest of the Todoroki family. There were a few pictures that circulated when he was born but other than that it was almost impossible to find any dirt on the kid. The only thing the people of Japan knew was that this kid was a prodigy, according to Endeavor’s words.

Shouta grumbled to himself at the thought of teaching the kid. He wasn’t very particular over kids that screamed nepotism. They were mostly bad news. Too cocky and too ignorant which always ended terribly because Shouta treated every student equally no matter who ever their father was or if their great grandfather was some headline hero fourty years ago and nepo-babies never enjoyed that.

Nevertheless, he had to prepare himself. If Shouto was anything like his father then Shouta was going to have a terrible year ahead of him.

You could imagine Shouta’s shock when Todoroki Shouto had walked into the classroom on the first day of class.

It was Shouta’s first time seeing the him as the kid had gotten into Yuuei through recommendation. Meaning he hadn’t needed to take the entrance exam and instead was given a specialized written test that was taken on a separate day of the entrance exam. There was only one other kid who had gotten into this class through recommendation and she was currently sitting at the far side of the classrom, already chatting up a few of the other girls in the class.

Todoroki was everything Shouta expected him to look like. Half ice and half fire. Split right down the middle like a genetic miracle. What set Shouta off was the large scar that covered almost half of the kid’s face.

Right. The accident.

He had heard of it through whispers when it had happened. The poor kid was at the wrong place at the wrong time when his mother had finally broke and he ended up taking the brunt of whatever his mother had done. Shouta just didn’t think it would scar this badly considering Endeavour’s access to Japan’s best medical techhnology.

Shouto’s looks weren’t the only thing strange about him. It took a while for Shouta to pinpoint but he had deduced that the kid had an interesting aura. Most nepo-babies had a certain aura to them. The kind that radiated excessive confidence and a shit ton of money. They walked like they owned the floor they were stepping on but Shouto didn’t have any of that. In fact, his presence was barely noticeable. He politely entered the classroom, bowed to his teacher, and walked to a seat at the back of the room without a sound.

Strange.

Aizawa quickly pushed his thoughts to the back of his mind, tucking it away in a box he would probably never see again. This wasn’t important. He couldn’t bring himself to care if the kid was an asshole or not, as long as he listened and did what he was told then they wouldn’t have any problems.

Things only got stranger as time went on.
