HQ is quiet today. Too quiet for that matter.
After coming back from Canvas Town you immediately crashed into bed, barely bothering to take off your shoes or clean your Jinki when you arrived. It doesn't help that your stomach's feeling funky.
It'll go away, you don't really want to go to the kid just for an upset stomach.
You sigh, resting for a bit before deciding to take a quick shower and change into more comfortable clothes.
When you step into the bedroom again, you don't expect anyone, it's late and everyone's probably already in bed.
The bed is sturdy but comfortable, supporting your weight as you lay down.
You're about to fall asleep before there's a knock on the door.
".. It's unlocked…" You say, hopefully loud enough for whoever it is.
The door opens and Riyo comes into the room, she closes it behind her before moving to your office chair.
".. Riyo.. Sweet girl.. why aren't you in bed?…" You pry gently, opening your eyes to look at her with small light that comes into the bedroom through the window.
".. Couldn't sleep. Enjin said he had something to do and isn't back yet…" Riyo says quietly, her knees are tucked to her chest, a small sigh leaves you before you lift the blankets.
".. C'mere." You say, holding the blankets open for her. Riyo looks up at you, you still have your eyes closed, she hesitates before doing as told and settling into the bed.
Her back is facing the wall, you wrap an arm around her and her head is resting on your shoulder. You stay like that before she finally falls asleep on you.
You're still trying to get a wink of sleep and when you're about to do, there's another knock.
"It's open." You say, loud enough to tell the other person and quiet enough to not bother Riyo's sleep.
The door opens with an ugly sound before it's closed again. Rudo stands there, gloves hands fiddling as he looks to the side.
This isn't the first time Rudo's come to your room to sleep, it probably won't be the last. It's become a habit, of sorts. Whenever he can't sleep, he comes here and sometimes he yaps to you about something or stays in complete silence.
Either it's okay, as long as he manages to sleep, you don't really care what he does.
".. Come on.. Get in the middle.. I have to leave early tomorrow and don't want to wake either of you tomorrow…" You explain to him, moving Riyo further to the wall, making space between her and you for Rudo.
He looks like he's about to say something before he finally nods and gets between you two.
He moves a little as he gets comfortable, he replaces Riyo's head for his on your shoulder. He goes stiff when Riyo hugs him in her sleep, her chin laying over his hair. A small grunt leaves him but he doesn't do anything else.
It's getting darker, the moon's shine lights your room, showering the both of them in a gentle light as they sleep.
They're so young, they look so soft as they sleep, like actual kids, who should be in school, getting some kind of education instead of fighting.
You lay there, watching over them as they sleep, you know they have nightmares more often than not and it hurts your heart to know that.
To not being able to help them more.
You feel a knot in your heart but slowly breathe it out, it's not time for that now. You take the small comfort that they came to you for this, as silly as it sounds, to not sleep alone has brought you some sanity back.
You relax back onto the mattress before the door opens- oh, so quietly— and you know right away who it is.
Zanka.
Zanka doesn't really come to sleep, he sometimes lays with you before leaving again and acting like nothing happened after. It pains you a little but you definitely understand him, a lot.
You look at his face, a little red and his knuckles are white from holding onto his Lovely Assistaff is what you manage to catch with the faint light in the room.
You scoot over, pushing the other two a bit further to the wall before lifting the blankets for him.
Zanka places Assistaff over your desk before scooting on the edge of the bed, he curls up to your side, his head burying in your shoulder.
You feel your shirt get wet along with Zanka's quiet hiccups. You hum, a hand coming to rub through his hair as you pace a tiny peck on his crown.
"You'll be okay.. you're here.. you're at home, Zanka…" You whisper, your hand never stopping it's soothing motion as you let him decompress.
This goes for a while, Rudo wakes up with a hum and looks at Zanka, who stopped crying but is still trying to regain his breathing. The white haired boy reaches over your torso and pats Zanka's hair before he falls back asleep, his arm falling over you and Zanka as if to protect you both.
".. They're here for you. Even if they don't show it properly or if you don't believe it. We're all here for you, Zanka." You whisper one last time before letting him rest on your shoulder again.
He stays unmoving and in silence before a small grunt leaves him, as he gets more comfortable to sleep.
Once they're all asleep, you sigh deeply, sleep is now coming to elude you completely, it goes out the window.
As the sun is slowly peaking, filling the room in a warm and yellow tint, you finally manage to fall asleep.
You let out a small sigh, sleep slowly claiming you as your body relaxes with the kids cuddling you.

Enjin grunt as he lays up, rubbing his eyes while he sits on his bed. He had meant to go your room and sleep with you until you two had work tomorrow but he came back late from getting a gift for you in Canvas Town.
He lets out a long sigh as he gets up, small pops coming from his back while he stretches out the sleep out of him.
Once he gets ready, he's really thinking how he should give you the gift. It's nothing big but he thought you'd like it.
He has the gift on his pocket, his left is holding Umbreaker, the right coming to muffle a big yawn as he comes to his stop.
Your room.
It's around breakfast time anyways, he's wondering why you haven't gotten up yet, you're not one to skip a meal. Maybe you already grabbed some and came to your room to eat.
"Hey- are you awake? You won't get any breakfast—" Enjin says as he opens the door.
Enjin's going to wake you up by dragging you out if you're not up. He sighs and looks over your bed, stopping completely in his track.
You're still in bed but so are they. Riyo's sprawled over Rudo and you, Rudo's tucked under your chin with his arms over you and Zanka while Zanka is curled to your side, holding onto your arm with his head on your shoulder.
Enjin can't believe it, they're here and sleeping with you?- He's kinda flabbergasted, he knows Riyo sometimes comes to his room to sleep too but Rudo? Zanka? In here?
Sleeping so soundly as if they never had a bad day?
His heart softens at the sight, the three of them, so comfortable, trusting you enough to come to you to sleep.
An idea pops up, he reaches for his pocket and pulls out your gift. A digital camera with a bow wrapped around it, not fresh but still functional.
He prepares and snaps a photo. Maybe three more with a close up of everyone before turning it off and placing it on your desk.
Enjin smiles at the sight one last time before deciding to wake the kids up, he doesn't really want them to miss breakfast just for some sleep. He can always bring you breakfast to bed too.
He wakes Riyo then Zanka, who seems slightly embarrassed about the situation and with some force he manages to wake and peel Rudo off from your sleeping form.
"Let them sleep, you three aren't going to miss breakfast." Enjin says, covering you with the blanket again. He turns to them as they slowly fill out of the room with sleepy yawns and grumbles.
He already decided tho, he's going to have breakfast with you.
