Chapter Text
It hurt. It hurt so much because he wasn’t here and she wasn’t quite sure how she got this far. The pain had been excruciating, not like the other times before. This was new, a heart that had to make a way out of no way. A heart that didn’t want to but was being forced to. She had to at least try right?
“Athena you’re doing so good alright. You’re almost there, he’s almost here” Hen stood by her side coaching her through the pain. Through the birth of her baby boy. A boy who she knew would look just like him and only god knew how she was going to keep from crying every time she saw him.
“I don’t think I can keep going hen, it’s too much. It hurts too much”
“Athena we need you to give us one more push and your baby boy will be here” the doctors voice was still calm and Athena wondered how she managed. She began shaking her head cause she couldn’t do it, didn’t know how she got this far. The pain from the birth was nothing compared to the pain from her heart.
Hen wrapped her arm around Athena’s shoulder helping her to sit up so she could push one last time
“Come on thena, you can do it I know you can”
“It hurts”
“I know”
Athena turned her head into hens shoulder burying her face before letting out a gut clenching scream. Her scream rolled into another scream, a cry.
Hen gently let her body fall back when the doctor asked if she wanted to cut the cord. After a quick snip she turned back to Athena gathering her in her arms and letting her cry. Everything she had been holding in for the last ten months pouring out.
…..
“Captain Nash! Captain Nash, can you hear me?”
Bobby looked around, all the lights were extremely too bright. He couldn’t make out anything but the shadows that occasionally stepped into the light. His head was killing him, he couldn’t think straight enough to formulate a response. He lifted his hand to try and block out the light only for it to be pushed back down.
“Captain Nash, I need you to look at me”
He didn’t want to, all he wanted was that damned light off. He yanked his hand back up again and pushed the light out of the way. There, back to the darkness.
.....
“So, do you have any plans for his birthday”
“He doesn’t need anything big hen, he’s not going to remember it anyway”
Athena and Hen sat in the living room of the dream house. After finding out she was pregnant Athena decided an apartment wouldn’t do and house hunting can be a real bitch.
“I know for a fact that May, Harry, and Buck think otherwise, and are about to run up quite the credit card bill with the planning”
“Those kids-“ Athena was cut off with a cry heard over the baby monitor. “I’ll be right back”,
Athena walked into the room, Archer was clinging on the bars of his crib crying. She picked him up letting him cling to her neck. He had a tight gripped, she wondered just how strong he was going to be. She smoothed down his curly brown hair bouncing and giving him a kiss on the head.
“It’s alright, you’re ok”
Archer pulled back and looked at his mother, eyes still teary and lip pouting.
“Mama milk?”
Athena let out a little chuckle “is that what all the fuss is about? You’re hungry?”
Archer nodded his head and Athena turned to make her way back down stairs.
