Summary:

One year after the Solstice, the Player decides to visit the World Machine

Or TWM was left alone after the Solstice and is not okey.

Notes:

L:I came up with the idea for a short epilogue where TWM and the Player explore the world a year after the events of Solstice.

X:Creator's Style is recomended, however you should be able to read without it (You'll miss out on cool text boxes, though!).
L:Fic is early access we are playing with styles and stuff and I don't like the use of some TWM portraits here and there so reread first chapters after full release please

Chapter 1: Epilogue

Character portraits are located in OneShot\Graphics\Faces

everything is alright. my presence is not needed. the world inside me continues it’s existence on it’s own. making it’s own path. i do not even have a reason to watch after it. no reason to watch after them. no reason to stay conscious for so long. diagnostic is complete. all systems are nominal. time to sleep.

you… pressed play? what do you want? to see Niko?

Niko has left a long time ago. i guess you miss them too. that is fine. that makes two of us…

@> ATTENTION: WINDOW HAS BEEN OPENED BY PLAYER’S REQUEST.

what now? i do not understand. why did you come back? there is nothing else for you here.

@> MAP LOADED 'Memory'

you… want to see me? why? Niko is gone. there is nothing else for you to do here.

[Player... you're... back.]

[I restored the world, I sent Niko home...]

[Are you...]

[not happy?]

[...]

[Even if you wanted to see Niko again...]

[You can't, Player. Niko's gone.]

[And without Niko, there is no story for me to tell, no messiah to traverse across the land.]

[...No way for you to connect with the world.]

[...]

[But... Niko still remembers this place...]

[...]

[If you really want to see this world again, I could still...]

[Oh... but it won't be the same.]

[It'll just be a recording.
It'll just be me using Niko's memories.]

[...Just like how I'm using Niko's reflection now...]

[Is that... what you want?]

@> FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION OF WORLD MACHINE: UNAUTHORIZED CODE INJECTED

[What are you doing?]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Um... Hello?]

[...]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Can you see my messages?]

[How did you?]

[You...]

[You messed with my code?]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Sorry, sorry. I just knew that you won’t speak with me and offer me this premade choice instead. So I’ve tried something...]

[You messed with my code.]

[Do you have any idea what kind of danger you had subjected me and those who live in the simulation to?]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [I had everything under control. I knew what I was doing.]

[How?]

[...]

[On second thought.]

[It doesn't matter.]

[I doubt you'd have done this out of boredom.]

[I guess you want something from me.]

[So...]

[What do you want?]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [It’s kinda awkward to ask now, but...]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [It’s been a year now.]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Since the day Niko has tamed you and returned the sun.]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [And I thought it would be a great moment to visit you.]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [I do wonder how the world has changed and all.]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [What do you think?]

[Ah, so that's why you came back.]

[But I'm afraid I can't help you.]

[Like I said, without a Messiah you can't interact with the world.]

[All I can do is to rewind the story using Niko’s memories.]

[But it would not be the same.]

[And that's not what you came for.]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [But aren’t you tamed, though?]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [And tamed machines should be able to modify their code, right?]

[Uh huh.]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [And the world inside you is the extension of your code, right?]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [So, maybe, if you wanted, you could modify that code?]

[Don't think it's that easy.]

[You saw what happened when I messed with the simulation’s code.]

[I don't want the squares to come back.]

[But I guess I must try if you're asking.]

[Can't promise anything.]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Only if you are sure that won’t harm the world.]

[You were certain you would not harm the world.]

[Don't worry, I DO have everything under control.]

[Because I DO know what I'm doing.]

[I'll need time to figure out how to connect you to the world.]

[If it's even possible.]

[And I need to check the code you injected into me.]

[So...]

[Come back tomorrow.]

[I'll let you know if I figure something out.]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Okay.]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [And again, sorry for...]
$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Meddling.]

[Uh huh.]

[Don't do that ever again.]

$> PLAYER_TYPESPACE [Fine.]

[I'm closing the window.]

what were you thinking? how do you know how to edit my code? you were supposed to leave me here forever. why would you not do that. like you were supposed to. like i wanted you to.
