*beep beep beep*
???: ugh... It's too early in the morning for this.
*CG of Syd's mom peering through the door*
Mom: Syd, get up. You have to get Liam to school.
???: I can't. I have Camp. I leave in an hour.
Mom: I said you can only go if I can get someone to look after Liam. Which I didn't
???: Well, I already signed the forms to go. And I'm Seventeen, so you don't get to decide if I can or can't.
Mom: Really, Syd? You're seriously doing this. Can you help me out?
???: asshole. You never do anything for me.
???: I'm not your free child labour. Now get out.
*horn beeping*
*screen goes black*
???: That was how I started the day that would change my life forever. I got dressed, grabbed my suitcase and backpack and said goodbye to my parents before heading into the limo. I should introduce myself before proceeding. I'm Laura Kuroda.
As stated, I was on my way to Camp, thanks to one school. Hope's Peak Academy. A world-famous school that has produced many famous and talented people in its long history.
A school that only the best, most talented students get to attend. It isn't an exaggeration to call it the "School of Hope". It literally is the hope of Japan.
There are two conditions to enter the school: 1.) You must be a high school student, and 2.) You must be the best at your given talent.
Only students who have been scouted to come to the school can attend. However, my circumstance was a bit different.
*CG of Laura in the limo looking at the window*
You see, the academy was running a new summer camp program for its third-year graduates, but they wanted to test it beforehand. So they decided to choose their newest freshmen students to participate in the camp.
Honestly, I was a little nervous meeting other high schoolers with ultimate talents just like me, but on the other hand. I was ecstatic to be a part of one of the prestigious schools of all time, which was one of my childhood dreams. And now that dream was becoming a reality.
*CG of 14 Ultimate Students waiting at a bus station with their bags*
???: Finally, someone else showed up
???: huh?
???: Aw, sweet, another Ultimate!
Laura Kuroda:
???: We've all been waiting for the bus that was supposed to take all of us to camp for a two-month-long program to help us develop our talents.
???: I was planning on relaxing this summer but now I have to this camp, just letting you guys know I don't plan on having fun.
???:
???: I Call Shot Gun!!!
And with that, all of us piled into the bus. I was lucky enough to get a window seat.
*CG of everyone on the bus in a slanted down head-on view in the seating order.*
Bus Driver: Alright! Everyone settled in? Next stop, Camp Kuma!
After a few minutes of driving, I felt my body start to shut down
Laura Kuroda: Hey guys... I feel funny
Darkness.
Darkness was the only thing Laura Kuroda saw appearing on the last fragment of her memory. A deep yet cold sensation taking over her body, as the anxiety and fear she had, previously, faded away with her counsciousness. She didn't even had time to have a last thought-imagining that she probably would never wake up again, and die in that same spot with her poor classmates. Her life, for sure, was not a thing she could proudly say to everyone that's something phenomenal, but it was still her life.
A life she so craved to make special moments after getting on that bus.
However, something was starting to appear for the ultimate journalist, specifically her senses. Her ears were picking absolutely nothing, as silence filled the entire air. Laura could also know that she was under some sort of lighting, given how she was seeing her closed eyelids glow from inside.
Laura Kuroda: Dear Ms. Kuroda, We would like to welcome you to your new home away from home. We hope you enjoy all the camp's facilities we have prepared. We recommend that you get to meet your fellow Ultimate Students. We're BEAR-RY excited for you - From your Camp Counsellors. P.S. We present you with a little gift to help get you started
I saw a dark green messenger bag. It was kinda big. I couldn't tell just yet what was inside.
Laura carefully sat on the ground, and I opened up my messenger bag. Inside was paper, pens, a notebook and a pair of sunglasses. My hand touched a cold metal; I pulled out a tablet-like device.
Laura Kuroda:
I accidentally bumped into a boy. He seemed to be a high school student just like me.
Sean: My name is Sean Warren. I'm the Ultimate Pupil, although the school might as well take away that title and call me the Ultimate Late Arrival or something.
Laura: ....
Sean: I knew it was a bad joke, but I didn't think it was bad enough to make someone go dead silent.
Laura: N-No! It's not like that, I'm so sorry. I was just trying to place where your dialect was from, it sounds different from everyone else's, and I didn't remember you being mentioned on any forums.
Sean: Oh, that's what you were wondering? I only moved to Japan a year ago or so, still haven't got completely rid of the accent yet.
I'm sure I'll drop the accent within the year when I become a bit more fluent, but for now it's staying I suppose.
Laura: You just moved to Japan a year ago and already got accepted here!? Some people worked their whole lives to get here, and they got scouted in *only* a year? "That's really astonishing, you must be super lucky!
Laura: This got depressing and fast!l I giggled. Allow me to lift your spirits! My name is Laura Kuroda, I'm the Ultimate Journalist! Nice to meet cha'!
