Work Text:

Hogwarts year 4

The Yule ball is quite an annoyance to a girl who wants to learn all the Hogwarts secrets, it means being forced to stand right where dumbledore can see her. She cannot go and talk to a snake instead of a human. But Noelle can admit that she likes the excuse to be in a gothic black ballgown.

Noelle was sat in a chair rudely rejecting any man who'd ask for a dance, watching Krum like a hawk. She's not a fan of him, especially after he asked Hermione to the Yule ball, he's 18 go for someone your age!! She narrowed her eyes at the man. "Hi Noelle!" She heard and looked up to see Neville "Hello Nev. Is that your date?" She nodded to the ginger girl next to him who seemed confused

"She only accepted because she wanted to go to the Yule ball" Neville admitted, Noelle sighed in disappointment, rolling her eyes "try going to the next ball with someone that actually loves you, plant boy." She told him, making Neville laugh "that's if I get invited."

Noelle watched Hermione. "Oh, do you like Hermione?" Ginny asked her. She nodded. Watching her as she talked to Ron and harry. Seemed to not be going well. "Hm.." Noelle got up.

"Oh! Going already?" Ginny waved as she walked over to the now crying girl. Hermione looked up at her as she sat next to her. "Are you okay? I can say that not all damsels in distress need a man. Sometimes they need another girl." Noelle smiled, taking Hermione's hand using the free hand to take her heels and guided her out of the great Hall "where are we going?" Hermione asked the girl.

"Just to the Quidditch practice field, nice open area to lay in and look at the stars without going up too many stairs, your feet must be killing you" she said truthfully. Hermione laughed and followed "I love your dress" hermione complimented Noelle. The black haired girl smiled proudly "thanks. I asked the worker which one would make a woman like you swoon." Noelle walked down into the quidditch field and sat in the grass. The stars were bright and gorgeous.

Hermione sat next to her. "Usually we can't be out this late, how'd you know it was perfect for this?" She asked the girl who was now laid down, trying to coax hermione to as well "I sneaked out" Noelle smiled. Hermione let herself lay down. Looking at the other woman she rolled over and grabbed the girl's face "hey." "Hi."

Hermione kissed Noelle, her lips were soft, tasted like chocolate strawberries and for once Noelle had no idea what to do. There was more than just black and white as her cheeks dusted pink. Before she could catch her brain Hermione ran off "oh my goddess"

"What's up with you, did you snog Krum or something you've been floaty all morning!" Ron yelled angrily Hermione blinked multiple times "no.. not Krum" she finally mumbled "who then?" Harry asked. Sitting next to her "a Slytherin." She said vaguely. "Oh now we have to ask a whole house!"

Neville looked like he knew something. Sitting there with a smirk. Ginny walked over and leaned over the couch looking at Hermione. "Was she everything she dreamed of? From how I met her she seemed like a woman with a purpose." Ginny asked her. "Better." Hermione sighed. Neville laughed
