Chapter Text
Michael Yew laid in the strawberry field next to Jake Mason.
It was early morning.
Michael insisted that they don’t tell anyone about their relationship yet so they secretly met up at the brink of dawn.’ Jake didn’t mind though.
As long as he could see his lover he was fine with waking up at dawn.
He turned his head over to look at his black haired lover.
Michael was looking up at clouds with his gorgeous eyes. They were like a kaleidoscope, Jake couldn't tell if they were amber, blue or both.< Whatever they were, they were beautiful.
He smiled warmly as he laced his hand with the raven haired boy’s.
The brunette sighed contently and looked up at the sky, lighting up as the sun spread across.
“It’s a nice day. It seems like it’s gonna be nice and sunny today.” Jake smiled.
Michael smiled slightly, which was rare considering he scowled at practically everybody except for Jake Mason.
“Yeah, My dad must be in a good mood I guess” Michael chuckled, squinting at the sun.
“Don’t look at the sun sweetie, unless you want your eyes to burn.” Jake winced.
As if right on que, Michael covered his eyes with his hands and yelped, “Ow!”
Jake tried not to laugh, “Well I warned you.”
Michael looked at Jake with a dramatic betrayed expression.
Jake couldn't help burst into laughter.
Michael scoffed but couldn’t help but smile.
“You're lucky I love you.” The black haired boy said, rolling his eyes lightly.
“What was that?” The brunette teased, cheeks slightly red.
“You heard me.” Michael said, looking away.
“Pffpt okay.” Jake said smiling.
Michael stared at the grass absent mindedly.
“You okay?” Jake asked, concerned.
Michael bit his lip, which was unusual for him considering he was confident most of the time.
“Um…do-do you think we’ll be together after the war…” he asked, looking up at Jake with those amber eyes of his.
Jake’s expression softened, “Of course.”
“Yeah but what if….” He trailed off, leaving the sentence hanging in the air.
Jake looked down. He knew exactly what Michael meant.
He would trade the world for them both to survive the war. He felt kind of selfish but he loved Michael more than anything before. Although he knew his lover would sacrifice himself if it meant a better world.
He could only hope Michael wouldn’t.
“Let’s make an oath.” Jake finally said
The raven haired boy glanced at him nervously, “An oath…?”
Jake smiled, cupping his lover's cheek. He could see colour forming in the other demigod’s cheeks.
“An oath that after the war we’ll meet right here in this field. Together.”
Michael smiled but he had a slight unsettled expression.
“I-i don't know…” he said, not meeting Jake’s eyes.
Jake could feel a pit of fear building in his stomach. He couldn’t bear to lose Michael.
Michael seemed to notice the other’s sadness because he suddenly moved his head upwards determinedly, looking Jake in the eye.
“I swear, we’ll meet up here in this spot after the war. Together.” He smiled.
Jake returned the words. They both laughed, happy to be with each other.
Jake stroked Michael's cheek. He leaned in and kissed him. It felt like the world had stopped around them. Michael made a light surprised noise against Jake’s lips before wrapping his arms around the brunette’s neck, and kissing him back.
When they finally pulled apart, they looked at each other smiling before embracing each other in a tight hug.
“I love you.” Jake whispered.
