Chapter Text
The entire operation had gone belly up. There were no other words to describe just how terrible things went. An utter catastrophe. Tacts was braced against a solid barrier cursing his situation. But he was here, the last man standing, there was no time to figure out where things went wrong.
“C’mon you clankers.”
The second the droids paused their fire, Tacts peeked out and fired blaster bolts their way. A few of them dropped before they continued firing, Tacts was forced to take cover again. A few droids down did not stop them from advancing, so he bolted without waiting for a break in their fire, tactics be damned. He just had to survive as long as possible to take out as many tinnies as possible.
He swung around the next corridor running to nowhere in particular. There were more droids up ahead. With no place to duck and cover into, Tacts charged head on with a shout, firing away. He tackled one of the B1 units down, smashing the butt end of his blaster into its chassis. A B2 unit was on him immediately, grabbing him by the bucket and smashing him into the corridor wall.
—
Tacts came to, albeit a little dazed. Even before the droids came into focus, he saw the shapes and colours and lunged right at them.
The B1 he happened to take down let out a startled yelp. “Commander?”
Tacts didn’t even register what the droid had said. He ripped its head from its shoulders on nothing but sheer determination and spite. However, the B2s did not disappear. They swiftly hefted him up by his arms. Struggling did little in their grips.
“C’mon then. Do your worst.” Tacts snarled.
A B1 unit stepped up. “Commander?”
Tacts snapped his head towards the droid. “...Commander?”
“Are you alright commander?” The droid asked.
“...What?”
“Are you alright sir?” The droid asked again.
Tacts took a moment to process the situation, the gears in his mind were certainly turning. “Let me go.” After all, they had just been firing at him moments ago. “That’s an order.”
The super battle droids unhanded him, leaving Tact standing there for a second or two. “Where’s my blaster?”
A different B1 handed back his firearm. “It’s right here si-” The droid did not get the chance to finish its sentence, as Tacts grabbed the blaster and shot it point blank. The rest of the tinnies glanced down at it.
“Oh well.” One said.
Tacts stared at the droids. The droids stared back. Then, Tacts turned tail and booked it through the corridors.
“Commander, wait!”
For all he knew, this could be a trick, and tricks led to traps. But for now he only had one plan: request transport. Having gone over the layout of the facility in the mission prep, he knew where all the terminals would be. He barged into the central hub of the facility, instinctively aiming at the droids dotted all around the room. They all swiveled their heads to the door.
“Com-”
“Lemme use that.” Tacts pointed to one terminal as he quickly strode towards it.
“Roger roger!” The droid promptly stepped aside.
Tacts shoved the droid further out of his space, pressing the necessary buttons to initiate a transmission. “This is ARC-2132, requesting a pick up at these coordinates.”
