Wemmbu was sitting outside the school on a bench. It was the middle of May, almost the end of the school year- it was warm outside.
He was peacefully messing with his long purple hair that was draped across his shoulder, daydreaming about what he was going to do with his summer. Probably last minute preparations before heading off to college in the fall, he had worked his ass off for years to get into a good school and he did it. Aerospace Engineering at MIT.
“Hey princess, what are you thinking about” Flame asked walking over to Wemmbu while smoking a cigarette.
“What the hell are you doing smoking Flame? You’re only 19. I swear you are actually so stupid.” Wemmbu said disgusted
“Uh the cashier at the gas station is my friend bro, so he sells me them anyways. It’s not that big of a deal” flame rolled his eyes as he sat down next to Wemmbu.
“ ‘Uh’ it is a big deal ‘bro’ I don’t want to smell like cigarettes you know I hate the smell. And it’s not good for you” Wemmbu hissed
“You’re so sensitive” flame replied rolling his eyes again but he put out the cigarette anyways flicking it into the grass.
“And you need to stop acting like you’re gonna die at 30.” Wemmbu shook his head
“Why does it matter? We’re all gonna die eventually why not have fun.” Flame shrugged
“You’re so weird” Wemmbu said with a sigh
“Don’t act like you’re so perfect princess” Flame laughed
“Quit calling me that, it’s degrading and we both know I’m above you in every aspect.” Wemmbu said glaring at the man sitting next to him.
Wemmbu wasn’t wrong unlike him, flame had no plans for after he graduated. Wemmbu was right about him acting like he wasn’t going to live past 30.
“Hmm, no thanks princess. Thanks for the suggestion though. Just cause you’re going to some fancy ass college doesn’t make you infinitely better than me. At least I’ll be having fun over the summer while you.. do whatever boring shit you’re gonna do” flame replied
“Well what ‘fun’ things are you doing over the summer that you’re so sure are gonna be funner than what I’m doing” Wemmbu questioned
“I am going to camp across the entire country, I got it all planned out and everything. Serious stuff, there’s gonna be bears and shit. I would ask you to go with me but you hate me and- well I don’t think you would have the skill for it.” Flame smirks as he says it. He knows it’ll make Wemmbu mad-
“Nah I’ll come, I’ll come with you. I have the ‘skill’, and I don’t hate you, only your bad decisions.” Wemmbu said as he cut flame off

“Yeah well you’re book smart that’s not gonna do shit on the road or in a forest. You would probably give up 3 days in.” Flame snickered
“Excuse me I would NOT, I bet I could make it longer than you ever could. Oh and book smarts are just as important.” Wemmbu snapped back
“Mhm, whatever you say to yourself bro.” Flame mumbled loudly
“When are you even going?” Wemmbu asked “you seem pretty set on me not going but I’m not giving you a choice anymore.”
“UGHHhh you are actually so annoying. I’m leaving next Tuesday” flame rolled his eyes as he stood up.
“THATS LITERALLY THE DAY AFTER SCHOOL ENDS, that’s in 3 days!?” Wemmbu half shouted following flame
“Exactly” Flame said flatly “I have to get home bro. I’ll see you on Monday”
“But I have more questions” wemmbu wined as flame walked away.
As he walked away flame heard Wemmbu mumble something under his breath
‘And I actually kinda want to go with you…’

Wemmbu sighed and began walking home, it doesn’t take too long. He’s walked the same route for 8 years he could probably do it in his sleep. He fidgeted with the key for a second before walking in the house. It was empty but that’s what he was expecting, his parents were on some work trip and trusted him not to die or burn the house down. He tossed his backpack to the side as he walked into the kitchen. Damn he was hungry ‘ugh there is literally no food here’ he thought as he grabbed a bag of chips and sunk into the couch planning on spending the next 2 hours doomscrolling when he sees he has a text from flame.

Flame: Im bored brooo wanna hang out?
Wemmbu: flame. It’s literally been an hour. AN HOUR AND YOU ARE ALREADY BORED.
Flame: yeah it’s been an hour how would I not be bored?! Meet me at that park by your house see you there princess!!1!111!! 👑 👸
Wemmbu: istg flame I’m gonna kill you.
Flame grabbed his skateboard and started heading towards the park he just told Wemmbu to meet him at. He enjoyed hanging out with Wemmbu, more than he would ever admit of course. Thankfully he doesn’t live far from Wemmbu so it only took him a few minutes to get there.
“YO PRINCESS, what’s up!” Flame shouted once Wemmbu came into his view ‘damn wemmbu looks hot right now’
Wemmbu flipped him off but didn’t reply till flame was a few feet in front of him.
“Why did you want me to come here flame” Wemmbu said with a sigh, he was wearing a pair of light purple sweatpants and a T-shirt from a concert he went to the year before. “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“W-what, I’m not staring! Me, staring? Never.” Flame stuttered as he sat down next to Wemmbu who had a slightly puzzled expression on his face.
“Sure.. like I said before, why did you want me to come here?” Wemmbu asked
“I told you, I’m bored. You’re cool and will make me less bored.” Flame told him ‘why does he look so hot right now? It’s not fair’
“Don’t you have anything better to do than hang out with me? Like there’s definitely other things you could do to be less bored” Wemmbu questioned
“But it’s fun annoying you princess” Flame smiled as he looked over at Wemmbu ‘and everything is calmer around you’ he would never admit that though
“Oh shut up, tell me more about your trip i guess since you’re not gonna leave me alone either way it seems” Wemmbu said shaking his head
“Ok if you insist” flame replied shrugging “I don’t even really have a plan, I’m just gonna drive and have fun. I’m finally free from school so why not enjoy life a bit you know?”
“I didn’t think about that, I hope you have fun. I’ll be here preparing for college, no ‘enjoying life’ for me just getting ready to spend the next 60 years of my life behind a computer” Wemmbu replied with a breathy laugh.
“Sounds depressing as fuck” Flame said looking at the tree to their right, questioning its climbability.
“Yeah it most definitely will be, what are you looking at?” Wemmbu asked glancing at flame.
“Oh just that tree, do you think you could climb it? I think i could.” Flame told him
“Nah I bet i could climb it faster than you” wemmbu nodded, also looking at the tree now.
“No way, I’m way faster than you!” Flame insisted.
“Wanna find out” Wemmbu was very competitive, especially around flame so he wasn’t going to back down around a challenge.
“Sure-“
“3… 2, 1 GOO” Wemmbu said interrupting flame and running towards the tree.
“YOU FUCKING CHEATER!!” Flame yelled as he ran after Wemmbu
Wemmbu laughed as he began trying to scale the tree, Flame following close behind. The bark was scratching his hands as he kept climbing. Flame was catching up quickly.
“ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!” Wemmbu shouted as flame yanked wemmbus ankle.
“No just trying to distract you, which seemed to work.” Flame retorted as he passed Wemmbu.
This pissed Wemmbu off. He tried to catch back up to flame but failed. Shortly after flame, Wemmbu sits down on one of the top branches next to Flame.
“Finally decided to join me princess?” Flame asked
“Oh just shut up” Wemmbu shook his head and glanced down at his throbbing hands. Maybe climbing a tree wasn’t a good idea.
“Bro, what the hell. Are you ok?!” Flame questioned reaching out towards Wemmbus hands
“I-I’m fine.” Wemmbu urged swatting flames hand away
“Bro I can literally see the blood, no you’re not. Just let me help.” Flame persisted
“I can do it myself-“ Wemmbu started before he was cut off by flame grabbing his hand “ Bro what the fuck, I said I got it.”
“Yeah well you don’t so just let me help you. There’s literal wood chunks in your hand bro. This is gonna get infected or something.” Flame said flatly as he ripped off a bit of fabric from the end of his blindfold to wrap wemmbus hand in.
“Why do you even wear that?” Wemmbu asked
“Wear what?” Flame replied as he began cleaning wemmbus hands one at a time.
“Your blindfold, you’ve worn it for as long as I can remember. I don’t even know what your eyes look like” Wemmbu said with a small, quiet, laugh
Flame paused for a second and whispered, “well- it’s a long story”
“Ok then, are you done yet?” Wemmbu asked
“Almost, just give me a second- you gotta be more careful bro.” Flame replied
“Ehhh I’ll be fineee, you worry too much” Wemmbu said
“I worry too much? You’re the one who freaks out over me smoking!” Flame said as he finished wrapping wemmbus hand.
“That’s different, and.. thanks for.. wrapping my hand” Wemmbu said avoiding eye contact until he heard the click of a lighter “FLAMEE I look away for 5 seconds and you start smoking really?”
“Yea, it’s fun pissing you off princess.” Flame smiled
“You’re really annoying you know” Wemmbu said as he began climbing down the tree. “I’ll see you on Monday I guess, unless you’re so bored you just haveee to hang out with me again”
“Bye princess!!” Flame shouted with a smile.
He was definitely gonna annoy wemmbu all weekend
