Doing fine

Summary:

Umm... this is just a Sera sickfic. It's just exactly what the tags say.
... Please just read it, I don't know what summary to put here.

Notes:

Yay, finaly started writing sickfics. I-I've been wanting to do this for like half a year, before even having an acount, and I've only now gotten to doing this.
I could have been writing one of the milion things I've started, but no. Lets just start writing something new. Why do I do this to myself?

Sera and Pentiouses relationship can be interpreted any way you want, but I kind of tried to write it semi-romanticaly. If you just want to see it as a friendship, then that's fine, I'm trying to let it be kind of ambiguous. I've also seen a lot of people headcannoning Sera as aroace, and the idea of queerplatonic serapentious sounds really cute, so again, whatever you want to see it as.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Doing fine

Chapter Text

Sera was doing fine. She was doing her normal, required paperwork. Sure, her normal, required paperwork would be tough work even five people (and there were probably supposed to be five people doing it, but, you know, heaven's residents were useless), but she was doing fine. She had taken a brake like Emily had insisted. A couple days ago. Weeks. Whatever.

Pentious had also badgered her, telling her that heaven's entire sructure and peace wouldn't collapse because she stopped working to sleep or drink a glass of water. Sera was still very skeptical about that. The paperwok needed to be done before the end of the day, since the new residents of heaven needed to have their information placed into a magicaly powered search sistem as soon as posible for safety reasons. She also had a meeting with the 7 heavenly virtutes sometime tomorrow.

She sighed and tried to focus back to the paper. It looked liked a jumble of letters and sensless words to her at that moment. She was attempting to distinguish them, but it was becoming increasingly harder. Just when Sera was starting to wonder why everything was starting to spin and blur in front of her, a hand sprung in her view.

The seraphym was startled and leaned to far back into the chair she was sitting in, which caused it, and her by extension, to fall backwards. Her wings got tangled into each other as they flailed around. She hit her head as she collided with the floor, which worsened a headache she only then realized she had.

- Misssss Ssssera? Asked a familiar voice. Are you alright?

Sir Pentious was leaning towards Sera, a look of pure concern on his face. She tried to asure him that she was, in fact, alright, but it came out as a mumbled and raspy 'mfine.

-Couldn't you have just called my name? She asked him, managing to at least speak a little louder this time.

He seemed initialy spooked by the fact that she had spoken without her usual composure, but waved it off.

-I did. Several times. You weren't responding so I-

Pentious noticed that Sera still hadn't gotten up, so he cut his rambling short and stretched out his hand to help her up. She pushed it away with a slight smile and attempted to get up on her own. She felt dizzines immediatly overcome her and her vision blurring and grabbed at the desk. Pentious caught her before she could end up laying on the floor again and tried to hold her up.Try being the operrative word, as she was at least twice his size.

Sera felt something dripping down her forehead. Pentious squeaked and moved his hand up to it.

-Ssssera, you're bleeding!

She moved her hand up to the cut. It seemed small, probably made by her halo when she fell over. Pentious still hovered around her, fussing. He brushed her blood and hair out of her face and froze. He moved his hand to feel her forehead.

-Ummm...I don't think you're supposed to be this warm, he said nervously. I-just-stay here. I'll get a firssst aid kit or sssomething.

He slithered quickly to some other room and Sera was left to grab at the desk again. Her legs fully gave out, and black spots were dancing around her vision. She lost her grip on the edge of the desk and colapsed down to the floor. She let out a soft whimper, as the sudden movement worsened her headache. She tried to move, get up, do something, but she didn't have the strength to do so.

Sera heard a muffled voice, posibly calling her name. She realized it was Pentiouses, but didn't grasp why she couldn't make his exact words out. He was close to her, she could feel his nice and cool scales, so why did his voice sound so far away?

She also couldn't see him properly, or maybe her mind just couldn't process what she was seeing in front of her. Her mind was fuzzy. She wasn't able to think. Pentiouses voice faded out completly as she sliped into uncontiosnes.

Pentious really didn't know how he had gotten himself in this position. He had just been trying to check up on his friend since she hadn't gotten out of her office in a day and a half. Sera tended to be stubborn and think that she was wholely responsible for heaven's safety, he had learned in the months since they had become friends.

And while she might have not been completly wrong, the residents of heaven were safe now. There was no threath against them, and taking a couple more days than usual to do paperwork made for six people was not going to make the realm's inherent foundation collapse, no matter what she thought.

So the reedemed sinner went into the office thinking he would just make her get out for a bit, maybe get her to put some of the paperwork on Saint Peter, who was supposed to be doing it anyway. Check if she had been sleeping, since they apparently both forgot to do that sometimes when to immersed in their work, and had gotten into the habit of reminding each other to rest.

He had been imediatly concerned when the seraphym hadn't anwsered to her name, and the winner had absolutely started panicking when he'd seen that she had a fever. He had managed to get something that vaguely looked like medicine from the room across from Sera's office.

When Pentious had rushed back to the room, Sera was curled on the floor. He tried calling out to her and cupping her face to check her temperature. She just silently whimpered and burried her face into his chest. He tried shaking her shoulder, decided she was probably uncontious, and proceeded to panic.

Pentious really didn't know what to do in this situation. He didn't know any doctors, and while he did have some moderated medical knowledge from his time of treating his own ailments, both in life and in hell, Pentious didn't really know what to do for a sick seraphym. He took a breath, and held her up, managing to get her to a bed in a connected room. Somehow. She was tall and had way to many ginormous wings. The winner decided to then get a wet cloth to cool her increasing fever down. It seemed to somewhat help.

Him standing around doing nothing didn't, though. So the reedemed sinner went to look for Emily, since she would probably know how to take care of her sister. He didn't exactly know where she was, but he did find one of her friends, also sort of his friend. She was looking at her phone and greeted him when he walked by.

-Hey!

-Hello, Molly! Have you by any chance seen Emily?

-Ems? Uhh..not sure. Think she's hanging out with her girlfriends. Y'a know, somewhere down in hell.

-Do you, by any chance, know when she'll be returning?

Molly shook her head.

-No. Why? Do y'a need her for something?

Pentious nodded.

-For what? She inquired.

The reedemed sinner decided he would ask Molly for help at that moment. He knew Sera wouldn't be keen on any resident of heaven seeing her in a vulnerable state, but she needed help and Emily wasn't returning anytime soon. She was aslo probably less likely to murder him if the person he trusted was Emily's friend.

-Umm..I think it's best you see for yourself.

Two minutes later, they were standing next to Sera's bed.

-Please tell me you didn't accidentaly murder a seraphym.

-I didn't accidentaly murder a seraphym.

Molly raised an eyebrow.

-Y'a sure?

-Yessss! I went in to check on her and found out she was sick!

-From what? Aren't seraphyms, like, super resistant to everything?

-Ummm....that's probably what several centuries of stress and paranoia do to someone. And also not doing anything except paperwork for two days

-Yeah, that checks out. Y'a got anything to help?

Pentious remembered the thing that vaguely looked like medicine. He saw that he had left it on the counter and grabbed it. He held it towards Molly.

-Eh? Maybe thissss?

She looked at the container. It had two pills inside it. It had no tag or readable instructions. Molly raised an eyebrow again.

-We're in heaven! What bad could it do?!

-I'm not participating in poisoning the High Seraphym of Heaven! I'll go get some actual medicine, you keep her company.

Pentious nodded, and then saluted. Molly silently snorted at the salute and flew out. The reedemed sinner fidgeted around for a bit then sat down on the bed. He tried to shift Sera's possition when she whimpered or curled into herself. How that ended up with Sera snuggled up to him, he didn't exactly know, but she seemed most comfortable sitting against his cool scales on his cold-blooded body.

Molly flew in with a first aid kit in some time, and she brought Emily, who had returned from her outing, with her. That's when they learned that Emily was a pretty good doctor. She had learned how to diagnose and treat quite a bit of ailments, to make sure the winners of heaven were as happy as possible, she said.

Sera's little sister confirmed that it was just a slight fever, dehydration and sleep deprivation, and showed great exasperation with the fact that she didn't actually take a break, as she had said.

Since Emily knew that Sera trusted Pentious most out of all of them, she let the winner sit with her sister while she convinced Saint Peter to actually help with his own required paperwork. Sir Pentious had asked to help with it, but Emily had brushed him of, saying that him looking after Sera was enough.

Notes:

Heeyyy! Hope you enjoyed! Please tell me how I did, this was my fist sickfic and I'd like to improve my writing for future ones. Please be honest, I can take constructive crticism. Also there's gonna be another really short fluff chapter.
