It was another perfect South Downs Night.
Anthony sat in his backyard looking through the telescope. The meteor shower was about to start. He heard his husband approach, bearing hot cocoa.
He took the cup from him. He watched his husband get excited about the shooting star, and couldn’t help but antagonize him a little bit about explaining what they were actually seeing.
The little look of exasperation was replaced by the look of complete bliss when he closed his eyes to make a wish.
He loved this man more than anything. He would forever be grateful to somebody that he wandered into that Soho bookshop that day. Randomly looking for a rare find. Sure, he had found a wonderful book. However, the cute blonde who nervously asked for his autograph and his phone number, that was the real find.
His husband turned his eyes towards him. “Darling, you should make a wish.”
“Why, angel? I have everything I could possibly ever wish for. I had a wonderful semi-successful career. Successful enough to buy this house, retire early enough in life to travel and see all the wonders of the world.”
He reached out and interlocked his fingers with his husband. “And I get to share all of it. Every last bit of it with you, my sweet Angel sent from above."
He watched the blush tint his husband's cheeks. “You falter me.”
Crowley chuckled. “Hey, I am the one you actually chose. Shouldn't I be the one flattered? Why would you ever choose a demon such as myself?”
His husband leaned in. “Well, my dear, I do have standards.”
“Just enough of a bastard worth knowing.” Anthony chuckled before leaning in as well.
“I love you, my Angel.”
“I love you, you foul fiend.”
The stars became a light with meteorites streaking across. However, the two only had eyes for each other. They leaned in and kissed. It was not the first, and it would not be their last, but like every kiss before and like every kiss to follow, there was something ineffably perfect about it.
