It’s a cozy afternoon which is also the same day that Shadow Milk arranged for him and Pure Vanilla, his crush that he swears he’ll confess to, —but is too prideful to— to meet at the park to hang out together. He waited impatiently at a bench swinging his legs back and forth, his right elbow on the armrest of the bench as he gazed at the ducks swimming in the pond nearby with an uninterested expression.
‘Okay, I got this. I just gotta play it natural and maaayybbe get a few looks at him..’ Shadow Milk thought as he heard familiar footsteps. He looked to where the voice was coming from, breaking free from his thoughts. “Hi friend! Sorry to keep you waiting..” He said sincerely, wiping a sweat droplet above his brow.
“Hey silly-vanilly!~ And it’s fine; there’s no harm in just a couple minutes, y’know.” He grinned. Pure Vanilla sat on the spot next to him, his expression brightened as he heard ducks quacking in the distance.
“There’s ducks here? I didn’t notice them earlier, but they’re so cute!” He smiled brightly, his great affection of animals showing. “Ah yeah, there is!- I was watching them earlier. They’re.. interesting I guess.” He muttered coyly.
Pure Vanilla knew Shadow Milk didn’t really necessarily like animals and just brushed off his tone. “They’re just so adorable with their little ducklings and such. I wish I could have a pet duck.” He chuckled softly as he leaned his hands on the bench, feeling the texture of the wooden seat with his fingers, his skin barely touching Shadow Milk's— yet to a point he could feel the warmth radiating from Pure Vanilla's skin.
God, this man drove Shadow Milk crazy sometimes without even knowing it. Shadow milk thought for a few seconds. then snickered. “Yeah right, you’ll have a pet duck one day, I'm sure of it since i've pond-ered on it before.” He joked with a slight smirk, a soft huff of a mock laugh escaping him. He then looked back at the ducks, this time in amusement.
Pure Vanilla let out a giggle at the joke politely, the gentle sound quickly changing into laughter as he finally got the joke. "Pond-ered!" Pure Vanilla repeated, "Oh my souljam!!-" He exclaimed as he continued laughing Shadow Milk immediately perked up at the glorious sound of his laughter, he wasn’t used to cookies laughing at his small jokes.
Plus it wasn’t even that funny in his opinion. He turned his head to the side to look at Pure Vanilla. Just the look of his beaming smile and tears building up at the corners of his eyes because of how hard he’s laughing was breathtaking to Shadow Milk. He felt his face warming up as his heart fluttered like never before.
‘Oh this.. feeling’s back.’ he thought to himself puzzled. He stared at Pure Vanilla almost seemingly stunned with utmost adoration for this cookie beside him. It was like time slowed around them and it was just them left together in the world, undisturbed.
Shadow Milk’s focused solely on Pure Vanilla, his heart pacing faster than you can say "Did you just say Grandma brownies Chocolate Chunker Wunkers Bunkers Chunks™, now with even bigger chunks of Chocolate Chunks?".
‘He looks so beautiful..’ He thought tenderly. Pure Vanilla’s laughter eventually died down moments later, he wiped his tears away still smiling. One of his brows jerked upwards in confusion when he saw Shadow Milk so stiff. “Ah.. did I do something wrong?” He asked quietly. Shadow Milk flinched and shook his head violently.
“Oh no, no, no. You didn’t do anything wrong really.” He blurted out, nervously. 'C'mon, c'mon Shadow Milk you got this, just as we practiced in the mirror at home.. It's now or nothing!!' He thought, hyping himself up mentally. "Can I uh.. tell you something? And please, answer honestly." He asked a minute later.
"Oh sure, go ahead." He nodded. "So.. I've noticed how much you mean to me as a person. Beautiful, kind and how much you deal with me on an almost daily basis." He said. "Yes?.." Pure Vanilla replied, cautiously. He continued on, "And.. I've developed feelings for you over time." Shadow Milk admitted, fiddling around with his fingers.
A muted pink crawled up Pure Vanilla’s face as he sat there, speechless at Shadow Milk’s confession. He put his hands over his mouth in shock. “I’m sorry, that must've been a little too sudden. You don’t have to reply just yet if you're not ready to.“ He said in a panicked tone. Pure Vanilla cupped his cheek.
“I love you too.” He replied back firmly looking into Shadow Milk's glistening eyes. “Really? You’re not saying that to make me feel better about myself?” He inquired carefully.
He put his hand over Shadow Milk’s intwined hands on his lap. “I would never do that. I truly love you Shadow Milk Cookie.” He said sweetly, as if Shadow Milk was an injured animal. Pure Vanilla quickly wrapped his arms around Shadow Milk.
Shadow Milk was taken by surprise at first but embraced him back, rubbing Pure Vanilla's upper back gently. “I love you.” Shadow Milk whispered close to Pure Vanilla’s ear. “I love you more.” He replied, placing a small smooch on his cheek.
After a few moments, they pulled away from the hug. "So.. that means we're together now?" He asked awkwardly. Pure Vanilla chuckled slightly and nodded "Yes, we are since the feeling's mutual." He confirmed.
Shadow Milk stood from the bench and gave a dramatic bow as he lent out his hand for his new lover to take. "Ya wanna go for a stroll?" Shadow Milk asked with a smug grin, his eyes lit up with a newfound goal. His new goal sitting right in front of him. To make this lovely cookie happy.
Pure Vanilla smiled back, and took his hand. Together, they entwined hands and took a nice, stroll around the park together. Mostly talking about random stuff or funny little things they walk past to point out to each other. At one point, they saw a little kid that was getting chased by a goose.
Shadow Milk spotted this scene and laughed his head off while Pure Vanilla was shaking his head. "That's messed of the goose for chasing the poor kid." He muttered to his lover. Shadow Milk shallowed down his laughter, "Don't worry, I'm sure their parent will come and save them." He reassured. Soon enough the kid's parent swooped them up it their arms and shooed the large bird away.
The two overheard little conversation, but it was mostly "Are you okay??" and "Are you hurt anywhere??" questions from the adult. Pure Vanilla sighed in relief for the kid had a good parent. He focused back on Shadow Milk. Pure Vanilla leaned onto his shoulder.
Shadow Milk was unsure on how to react, flustered by this act by Pure Vanilla. "Who knew you were this lovey dovey? If I knew, I would've confessed sooner.." He teased slightly. Pure Vanilla let out a small snort. "Hush, you silly goose." He joked. After they had a memorable afternoon stroll together, they stayed for a while.
They stood around near the wall of the park and having deep conversations but then had to part ways because of how late it's getting. Pure Vanilla sighed, disappointed. "We should start heading home now." He said while rubbing his thumb over Shadow Milk’s hand. "Awh, so soon, I'll miss you." Shadow Milk replied, giving Pure Vanilla a long hug, taking in his sweet, sweet scent.
Pure Vanilla hugged back, and patted Shadow Milk's head. They pulled away, but walked alongside each other to the parking spot, parting opposite ways with their new lover on each's mind.
Later that night, Shadow Milk received a message on his phone. "Huh? This late at night? Geez.." He muttered in annoyance as he read the message to see who it was. 'Hey, just wanna say good night and I love you dear.' - Silly Vanilly ❤️.
Shadow Milk's annoyance quickly turned into curiosity. He smiled smugly to himself as he typed out a message. 'Hi silly vanilly! I see you miss me already hm? But good night and I love you to you too.' - Shadow Milk.
Pure Vanilla hearted the message and replied back moments later. 'You can't blame me for missing my own boyfriend lol' - Silly Vanilly ❤️. Shadow Milk cookie swung his legs in the air as he lied on his bed giggling to himself like a teenage girl texting her own boyfriend.
'I guess I can't really blame you for missing me then.. XD' - Shadow Milk. They texted for a while until Shadow Milk looked up at the corner of his phone checking the time, 12:38. 'Well, it's getting late and I need my beauty rest. Dream of me!! Goodnight love. <3' - Shadow Milk.
Pure Vanilla hearted his message again. 'I will, goodnight dear.' - Silly Vanilly ❤️. Shadow Milk put his phone on his bedside table before pulling up his covers and falling asleep with a warm smile on his face.
