Chapter 1: An Interesting Meeting

Chapter Text

Cursing, Red Hood head-shot the most recent magical nuisance as he fell through the portal the man had summoned. B could yell at him after he got back from wherever the hell he was going.

Hitting pavement, he rolled to his feet and seeing children in cages he started shooting everyone not in a cage.

“Another Red!”

Red Hood barely refrained from shooting the man that dropped down beside him in an entirely red suit with black accents. The man shooting a trafficker in the head told Jason they were on the same side, at least for now.

“I’m Deadpool.” The man, Deadpool apparently, tapped Red Hood’s shoulder with his own and they both dodged as an overhead walkway fell to the ground where they had been.

Red Hood had seen it, but the warning was nice. “Red Hood. I had it,” Alfred’s tut in his mental ear had him adding, “Thanks though.”

“No problem! Now we just got one more room where the boss is.”

“You need him alive to question him?”

“Nope. This is the last group. Once they're done we can call this in.” As Red Hood pulled off a difficult shot to get the last man Deadpool whistled. “Nice shot. Onwards!”

Red Hood followed Deadpool, keeping an eye out for any stragglers as Deadpool obviously knew where to go.

When the last trafficker laid dead Jason started opening the cages, picking the simple locks as Deadpool searched for something, “It’s going to be okay.”

A young boy bit his lip, “Did you kill all of them?”

“Yeah. They're all dead.”

“Good.” A slightly older girl started directing the freed kids around, not giving the bodies on the ground a second look. Jason appreciated her keeping them out of his way as he set to work on the next lock.

“Found the key! Well keys.” Deadpool called as Jason’s hood picked up the giggling of a ring of keys, “Wow is this a lot of keys.”

“Just pick the locks, they're pretty basic.” Another lock sprung open and he turned to the next cage as the girl got those kids from the cage he had just opened. “Like embarrassingly simple. Going to be a lot faster than a ring of keys.”

“I don’t know how.”

Jason barely refrained from throwing the room the other cape was in a look, “You’re a cape and you can’t pick locks, or break them off with your hands?” Even the Flashes knew how to pick locks, hell most of the Green Lanterns could pick locks, although some were useless and unable to pick anything that wasn’t electronic. On the other hand they could use constructs to crush the locks so it didn’t matter much.

“A failing I am just learning about. Normally I just shoot the locks off.”

This time Jason did shoot the room a disbelieving look as he finished picking the lock. “That’s just asking to be injured by a ricochet and there’s no way you can trust your suit against that so close to yourself. And have you ever heard of stealth? Picking locks is a lot quieter.”

“Heard of her yes, but never met her.”

Jason turned to the last cage as Deadpool walked back into the room, “Maybe you should.”

“She’s more the other Red’s thing. Wow you already got them all open!”

“As I said,” He unhooked the last lock from where it was attached to the cage, “These were really basic locks. I’ve picked more complicated public bathroom locks.” Standing up Jason slipped his picks away. “Now what?”

“We flee.”

“Have you called the cops?”

Deadpool probably blinked at him, before answering, “No. I do that after the fleeing.”

“There could still be problems,” Jason checked his GPS, thank goodness it worked wherever he was, “We in New York?”

“Yep.” Deadpool popped the P.

“The emergency line 911 in this dimension?”

“Dimension?”

“You ever heard of Batman or Superman?”

“No, but now I want to.”

“Eh B’s a wet rag and supes is too much of a boy scout to be worth meeting. Now 911?”

“Yes.”

Nodding Jason easily jumped onto the local cell towers and placed a call.

“911. What is your emergency?”

Jason checked his voice modulator was on before speaking, “I found a bunch of dead traffickers and a bunch of kids at,” Jason eyed the GPS coordinates, it seemed to be functioning normally so he read off the location.

“Sir, are the killers still in the area?”

“They won’t be by the time you get here.” Hanging up the call he turned to Deadpool. “Where to next?”

“I think we should try some places for ET to call, or well go, home.”

Rolling his eyes Jason followed Deadpool out of the warehouse. He insisted on sitting on a nearby warehouse until the cops arrived but followed Deadpool easily after that.
