Work Text:

As Dewin began taking the pen in his hands, his mind began to ponder. Is this really what he had to resort to? Is this truly something he wished to spend his time on? The answer was yes, annoyingly so. He wanted so badly to move on from that ghost and continue living his life like he always had. But he can't. He can't take back the memories that had suddenly become precious. Too precious. He grunted at that thought, now that he's gone, he suddenly misses him? He definitely missed his alone time, where there was no chance of a supernatural being coming in every 10 minutes to annoy you. But somehow, those weird moments got ingrained into his daily life. A routine, something mundane, and something he has grown accustomed to. As much as Dewin tried to deny it, he knew deep down that the weird routine was something he started to miss since the ghost's departure. He became quite fond of them. Which is probably why he has to do this. He has to draw this weird, annoying and weirdly cute ghost. The last part was unnecessary, he thought, so he shaked his head in order to focus.

Concentrate on his face. He started with an oval shape to create a front facing portrait, he didn't have any reference to go off, so that would do for now. He drew his white eyelashes, which fit his ghostly appearance quite well. He continued by drawing his round nose, his slightly curly hair, that was on the thinner side, with different shades of grey, and a blue streak. His little side ponytail that went in a perfect swirl. Dewin didn't realise how fun it would be to draw this guy, and with every stroke he felt a mix of joy and embarrassment. “This is too weird, I'm drawing a flying corpse right now.” He thought to himself, but it was too late. The piece was already in motion, and besides, if he wouldn't draw him, then no one would. The sketchy art piece would probably be a pleasant surprise for Sei, he would most likely be ecstatic even. That is, if he does ever come back. Dewin considered that possibility, but immediately pushed that thought out of his head. He was probably still in shock after meeting his dad for the first time in decades. He seemingly had a bad relationship with him, for some reason, and the reaction was reasonable. He had been pretty clingy with Dewin since they met, so surely he would come back tomorrow as if nothing happened. Right?

One week later, Dewin had started to worry. It was embarrassing to admit, but he missed his presence way more than anticipated. Hell, him bothering Dewin in his lectures was now something he looked back on fondly. He had forgotten how truly boring classes can be. The topic was property law, which made Dewin sigh at how boring that sounded. He turned to his right to see how his friend was doing, and naturally she seemed as focused as ever. He was jealous of how she managed to always stay focused and ready to absorb any information coming her way. It was honestly impressive, but that's not something he would ever admit out loud.

“Can't focus again?” She asked, knowing without even looking that he was leaning on his arm to keep his head from falling.

“How can you?”

“Easily, I just focus”

“Wow, I haven't thought of that at all, genius.” He responded with a clear sarcastic tone.

“I am really a genius right? Hehe knew you would admit it someday”

“Shut up” His tone came off more aggressive than he hoped, but he couldn't control it. He had a hard time understanding why Sei would be gone not for just a day or two, but a whole week. That was unlike him, which caused him to worry. He's a ghost so there's no way he could be in danger, right? How would one even keep a ghost hostage, when they can just go through the walls? Why was he even thinking of these weird scenarios when he had to focus on the task at hand?

“Did you get all of that?”

“Get what?”

“What our professor said we should do? You're so locked out right now”

“Jesus if maybe a certain someone wasn't on my tail today, I would maybe be in a better mood.”

“... Are you okay?”

“Huh?” This was annoying, Dewin had nearly forgotten how good she was at reading people.

“It's clear that something has been weighing on your mind. If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay. But just so you know, I am going to try to do the work right now, so just.. Take it easy, alright?”

Dewin didn't realise how much he needed to hear all of that. He has been stressing over Sei's disappearance, that he has taken it out on his friend. She didn't deserve to be lashed out on, so Dewin apologises with this realisation.

“Alright… Thanks.”

She simply smiles, and turns to her work. He should do the same.
