Chapter Text
Luffy got up from his towel that was laying in the sand on the beach. The group har decided to take a trip out to the sea. It was lively, as the summer was at its peak. He felt the boredom take over and decided to go explore on his own.
“Where are you off to?”, asked Zoro, who was grabbing a beer bottle out of the cooler.
“Im going off on my own”, Luffy gleamed. Zoro scoffed at his stupid grin.
“Just don’t get lost.”
“That’s your expertise”, shot Sanji from where he was laying on his own towel under the parasol.
Luffy walked off as the two started fighting. He hopped onto where the beach ended, replaced my big rocks. He could still hear their banter as he made his way further away from the beach and the people. Luffy jumped down onto a small strand of sand that surrounded a bit of water that went into a cave.
The lighting was dim, but he went in anyway. The cave wasn’t deep, but spacious. There was a tiny beach inside that shined with the small light from the falling sun. The afternoon was already growing into evening.
He heard a small hum and walked further in to see where the noise came from when he spotted a person. He beamed with excitement and picked up the pace. Luffy waved.
“Hello! I didn’t anyone else would wonder of to a place like th-“
He stopped dead in his tracks. Something was up. The person didn’t have legs, but a shining fish tail that shined in a light gray color. There were clack spots near the end of the gray part, and the end was a dark aqua green like color. The person stared at him in horror after being seen. The top of their body was human. Their torso and their arms were tattooed. It was a guy, with short, messy black hair and gold eyes. Luffys eyes shined brighter tan the sun.
“Are you a fishman?!” He asked.
The fishman nodded, still vary and caught of guard by his sudden burst.
“I didn’t expect anyone to come here, no one ever doesn’t,” he said, scanning Luffy.
His voice was deep, with a rasp to it. Luffy plopped down on a nearby rock and leaned his face on the palm of his hand.
“So, what’s your name?”, he asked.
“Trafalgar Law.”
“That’s a funny name! My name is Luffy!”
“I wouldn’t say that’s any more normal."
Luffy laughed at his remark. Laws shoulders relaxed just a little more, feeling that Luffy might not be so dangerous.
“Ive never seen a Fishman like you”, Luffy said.
“It’s normally just the women who have a tail and a normal upper body.
Law looked out at the ocean outside the cave. He didn’t expect someone to be this ok with meeting a fishman.
“I know a couple like me, we just don’t normally go past the surface.”
He hesitated. Luffy now say with his legs crossed on the rock, completely invested in whatever Law had to say.
“Luffy, is this normal to you?”
He tilted his head but chuckled a little in the end.
“Yeah, I have a fishman friend, his name is Jinbei. He’s a really cool guy.” Luffy grinned.
Law had heard of Jinbei. He was popular under the sea but had been gone for a long time. So, he had become friends with this guy? Luffy got up and looked out. The sky was starting to turn a slight shade of orange.
“I should probably head back before they start looking for me”, he said.
Luffy turned to Law and smiled.
“It was nice meeting you, Law. Maybe we’ll meet in this cave another time!”
He waved one last time before heading out and back onto the rocks. Law sat in silence for a good minute.
“What an interesting guy..”, he mumbled to himself before jumping down into the water. He disappeared into the ocean, but not forever.
Nami waved from a sun bed as Luffy arrived back at the beach. Many people had already left. They packed their things and headed off. Zoro walked beside Luffy back to the car. He had a small, red mark on his cheek after getting kicked by Sanji.
“Did you find anything interesting?” He asked Luffy.
“Yeah, I met a Fishman. He had a cool tail!”
“Should we catch him?”
“Ofcourse not, we don’t do that kind of business!”
“Just checking.”
