Ace noticed that something was going on as soon as he made his way onto Luffy’s ship. For one it was clear that several of the people in it were very close to his brother. Closer that he had expected this soon into their journey.
When he thanked them for taking care of Luffy, and that he was essentially a little shit who got into way too much trouble, some of them looked charmed more than anything.
But the true reveal came when he was staying behind with the chef, flirting a little and enjoying the way the blond blushed under his attention. He didn’t get a lot of that anymore, Yamato had blushed too pretty when they met, but most of the Spades and the Whitebeards got used to his antics, even if they did land in his bed now and again.
“Ace,” Luffy grumbled, entering and planting himself in front of Sanji so Ace couldn’t look at him again, “He isn’t yours…”
Laughing at that, he leaned in closer, “Ah, did you stake your claim, little brother? I thought for sure it was the redhead or even your swordsman.”
He knew what he was doing, pushing Luffy until he spilled. Something that he knew he would manage even after three years apart. Luffy wasn’t that hard to figure out and after so long together, he knew that his little brother didn’t change much.
Possessive as he was, he would stake his claim, and he did. Turning back from Ace to step towards Sanji and kiss the blond. Kissed him deeply even, as it was clear from his movements, pulling back only when the blond was panting and looking quite out of it.
Glancing at Ace with that look in his eyes he did have at times, predatory and territorial is a way he only got when someone tried to take what he saw as his. He wouldn’t allow anyone to take what was his, not now and not ever.
Holding up his hands, Ace’s smile softened, “I take it your heart it is still too big for just one person? Does that include all of your crew?”
Luffy shook his head, “Nah, Vivi doesn’t like me like that and I don’t think she’ll stay after we make it to her palace. Chopper is too young, and in a way he’s still a reindeer. He does know though, and made sure we’re all doing it safely.”
Grinning widely, Ace nodded, “Then I know they’ll take care of you and that’s everything I need to know.”
When he left, saying his goodbyes to the people he had come to like, for themselves and for the fact that they were taking such good care of his brother, as they all loved him as much as he did. Part of him couldn’t wait to see them all again once they managed to get further into their adventure.

After being saved at Enies Lobby, Robin knew that something was going on with members of the crew. Franky had noticed the same and had asked her about it. She had to confess to not knowing what was going on.
She had noticed that now that they had the Sunny, Nami didn’t always sleep in the Girls’ quarters. She disappeared at times and not when it was her turn to take watch. Franky added that some of the boys, most particularly Usopp, Sanji, Zoro and Luffy didn’t always sleep in the Boys’ room.
“I think they sleep in the Captain’s quarter, that’s what it is for, after all. Although I would think that only Luffy slept there?” He looked confused, which is when Robin let an eye bloom in the room and dispelled it almost as soon.
Flushing bright red, trying to think of the right words and mentioning that their Captain and part of their crew were busy. “It would seem that they are all involved, I didn’t see that coming.”
Franky blinked, before a grin took over, “Good for them. I’m sure they’re all Super into this if they’re sleeping together like that. Think it’s a one time thing or?”
Shrugging, Robin didn’t know what to say to that. In her mind they weren’t that long a crew, so it could be casual. But then again, she had gotten to know some of her crewmembers and none of them looked to be people that did things casually. Luffy especially was someone who did everything with his whole being.
Pursing her lips, she offered her idea but also suggested they keep it to themselves until such a time that the crew opened up to them both. Franky agreed and they left it to the side to take up one other time.
That other time came to be when Brook joined and they were left to scramble after defeating Moira, but Kuma waited for them at the end of their battle. Zoro’s body as Sanji appeared with it something that would haunt them for a long time.
Luffy was passed out too, so it took them a while to get their Captain and First Mate to get back to the infirmary. Chopper was beside himself, scared that something had happened and afraid he couldn’t help them in time.
In the end, they were saved. Although Zoro was hurt, really hurt, enough that Usopp, Nami or Sanji stayed in the infirmary with the two wounded.
Robin went to check up on them and found Luffy up and sitting on the side of Zoro’s bed. Pressing close and kissing him, one of each other's hands held by Sanji, who was keeping an eye out. There was a conversation going on, but she didn’t hear any of it.
The next morning Zoro carefully made his way into the kitchen with Luffy and Usopp at his side. Nami sat close to them and Sanji, once the food was on the table, also sat down close to them all.
Luffy took to speaking, explaining that they were all together. Meaning he, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp and Nami were in a polycule. They tried to keep it under wraps as they knew that Marines might just take advantage of that. But Thriller Bark had shown them that they would find a weak spot regardless, and it helped when the crew was aware.
“I hope this doesn’t change anything between us?” He asked, looking genuinely scared of losing his crew about something like this.
While they didn’t say it, it was clear to the older crewmembers that all of them were scared of the reaction.
Shaking her head, Robin smiled, “I don’t really care, as long as this is something you all want and enjoy, who am I to stop it.”
Franky had much the same reaction. Adding that Water 7, being such a hotspot for pirates, had seen several different kinds of relationships and he didn’t mind. Again, like Robin said, as long as this was something consensual and enjoyable that was all he needed to know.
Brook, the newest part of their crew, seemed a bit out of his depth. Before admitting that he had been in a relationship with his former Captain and some of their crewmembers would join them in their bed now and again. “As Franky-san and Robin-san mentioned, as long as you’re all in this fully aware and with full consent I don’t see any problem with it.”

Jinbei had known Monkey D. Luffy was special and not just because of the way his older brother talked about him.
No, part of it came from that. But a large part came from the fact that the Rookie broke in (and out) of Impel Down to get said older brother out of jail. He wrecked holy hell on his body and didn’t let that stop him from going to war to get to Ace.
Even at the end, when it was clear that one of them would fall. He managed to muster up enough strength to activate armament haki, coupled with a strong blast of conqueror's, that Akainu faltered and they were able to get Ace and him onto a ship before getting out of Marineford.
Despite surviving, Marco and most of the Whitebeards were overcrowded so to let another Rookie take care of Luffy had been an easy choice. Jinbei joined Trafalgar Law, to keep an eye out and to play liaison between Strawhat and the Heart Pirates, as well as the Whitebeard Pirates.
It was needed, as Luffy woke up screaming for Ace. Out of it, and believing that he had lost his older brother. Jinbei tried to push him out of it, that Ace wasn’t dead and even if he had been, there were other things to live for. prompting the younger Pirate to start naming his Nakama one after the other. His voice changed with some of them, one Zoro, Sanji, Usopp and Nami. They were more than just Nakama.
Once the kid was calm, he asked about it. Mentioning he had noticed that he had named them differently.
Smiling, Luffy shared what they meant to him. How he loved them, how they had been there for him in ways he didn’t know he even needed. They understood his dream, had dreams of their own and it was the best thing ever to have them there at his side.
Luffy’s face fell, “Except they were sent away, by that Bear-Guy. He smacked at them and they were transported elsewhere and I don’t know where they are.”
Telling him that they’d get a message out, even more so when Silvers Rayleigh found them and mentioned them not being ready for the New World. That they needed training and he would like to offer that to Luffy. Especially as he added that Ace had lived, but needed to heal too. So he didn’t need to worry about Luffy too, if he took a hiatus. Getting the news out by going back to Marineford with something on his upper arm.
As they split ways, Jinbei couldn’t wait until he ran into Luffy again. Maybe more so, was his curiosity about the people that had captured the man’s heart.

After everything, Law had known that Monkey D. Luffy wasn’t someone he should underestimate. Despite it all the Rookie had made it to Marineford and gotten his brother free from the execution platform where an Emperor’s crew didn’t manage.
So, he knew not to take anything at face value.
Yet, nothing had prepared him for being on board their ship. The sheer chaos he had expected, he had seen that in the short time Strawhat had been on the Polar Tang. But to know that the Captain was fucking several of his crewmembers threw him for the loop.
He had thought it was just Strawhat and Pirate Hunter, and had seen them kiss more than once.
But then he had seen Pirate Hunter kissing Black Leg after a spar, and none of it seemed hushed. Least of all when Strawhat walked into them and laughed, pushing them apart to kiss Black Leg too.
Not long after, he was sitting with Nico Robin and Nami, when Strawhat joined them on Nami’s lounge chair and snuggled close to the redhead. Kissing her sweetly and she kissed him back. He must have been staring as a hand appeared to push his mouth closed as Nico Robin giggled, “They are cute, aren’t they?”
Law hadn’t known what to say, except a part of him longed for a love like that. Not with Strawhat or his apparent lovers. But it was clear they all loved each other, and the crew accepted it as normal. As a daily part of their lives, and that was the kind of love he wanted for himself as well.
“They are… I didn’t think Strawhat could stump me even more, despite everything that I already prepared for,” He offered.
Nico Robin giggled, “Let me share with you a secret, one cannot prepare for someone like Monkey D. Luffy. He does what he likes and doesn’t let anyone’s opinion stop him.” Her eyes are soft as she adds, “He knows what you need even before you know you do, I can speak from experience.”
Huffing, Law didn’t say anything. Even if he found that out the hard way later on, in Dressrosa, when Strawhat even after he ended their alliance wouldn’t let him go off on his own. Protecting him as Doffy shot him and eventually saving him from Doffy, and from himself.

Sabo had missed years in his brothers’ lives, so he might have come on a little too strong when he found out about their sex lives.
Ace was someone who couldn’t settle, who slept with different people, both on his crew and off of it. Loving the attention and even more so after surviving Marineford and becoming the new Captain of the Moby Dick, taking advantage of people wanting an alliance with him. If he liked them enough, that was. His crew certainly believed that their Captain would sleep with the Rev’s number two, until Ace decked him and they ended up laying side by side and the resemblance became clear as day.
Luffy, his baby brother, was harder. He still remembered a seven year old who was much too young to have any kind of relationship that wasn’t platonic. So seeing more than one person kissing him, he freaked out. Started threatening people.
Until Luffy stopped him, “This is all wanted, Nii-chan, I want this and they want me. That’s all a relationship has to be, doesn’t it? You can’t be mad at them for loving me.”
That hit him deep, of course he couldn’t be mad at people for loving his baby brother. Luffy was lovable as fuck. But it made sense that Ace had warned him about this, about Luffy’s polyship with several of his crewmates and he couldn’t let that guide him.
Huffing, he chose to pull Luffy close and sigh, “As long as you want this and none of them try to hurt you I’m fine with it. I guess I just need to get used to the fact that you’re not 7 years old anymore. It’s weird, and it makes it harder to deal with the missed time I have to make up for.”
Zoro and Usopp pat him on the shoulder, “If it helps, Luffy was 100% the person initiating this. We didn’t even think it was possible.”
Laughing at that, Sabo nodded, “That does not surprise me, he was always very straightforward in getting what he wanted. Just… Treat him right?”
More than one person, even those not romantically involved with his brother, promised to do that. Robin was one of them, and he had grown to trust Robin after the time spent with her. Nodding, he was willing to let it rest. Luffy was happy and that was really all he wanted.

Luffy was Pirate King.
He had made it to Laugh Tale and found the One Piece. He had freed the world from Imu or whatever it had been. Making sure that all in all, Nika’s dream was realized as well.
It felt unreal.
Making him move to turn to his crew, to his allies that had been there at the end fighting for what is right.
Grinning at them all, before he was hugging his crew close. Feeling the others duck out of the embrace before he had only his lovers there and he made sure to kiss them. Not caring who was looking, not caring who could see and would know. All he cared about was that his dream and most of theirs had been realized. So that meant that all that was left was making sure theirs got finalized too.
“Go Anchor,” He could hear Shanks laughing, the man having taken multiple lovers over the years so he knew he wouldn’t mind.
Laughing as he pulled back after kissing Sanji last, he beamed brighter. Tilting his head slowly, “Does that mean you’re all Queens now?”
Most of them sputtered, with only Nami smirking and agreeing right off the bat. She would love being called a Queen. His male lovers didn’t know what to say to that, so they didn't say anything at first. Until it was Sanji of all people who agreed and mentioned given his own gender identity, he didn’t mind being seen as a Queen.
Zoro and Usopp bickered about that, before settling on Royal Consort. Not that it mattered, Luffy would keep referring to them as Queens and they’d grown accustomed to it. Because they loved him and didn’t really care about the name he gave it. As long as it was together with him, that’s all that mattered.
Giggling, he kissed them all again, before letting go to run for his brothers to hug them close to. Thanking them for their support and gushing about anything and everything; his title now, his lovers, his crew and the road he took to get there.
