Chapter Text
Anthony nudged Kenny's arm, signalling him to move. Instead of moving, Kenny pushed his body to the side, pushing Anthony to the very edge.
Anthony glared at him.
Kenny grinned back.
"If you don't move I'm sitting on your lap."
That got Kenny's attention. He scooted over a few inches, just enough for the two to be close while giving Anthony space.
Once he moved, the two boys settled into their usual comfortable silence, both on their respective gadgets. They sat like that for a while before Anthony broke the silence.
"Hey, check this out." He pointed his phone towards Kenny with a huge smile on his face. He pressed play and Kenny brought his face closer to see
This is your sign, The video started,To kiss the first person that pops up when you press share, then more.
Kenny watched as Anthony pressed the shared button, then more, and he huffed out a laugh when he saw he was first.
Kenny snorted. "That's stupi–" Kenny was shut up by a pair of soft lips crashing into his. Anthony had his hand on Kenny's cheek before he even knew what was happening. He barely had time to process anything before Anthony pulled away.
Kenny felt his face heat up. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out.
What the hell was that? Before he could gather his wits about the situation, Anthony suddenly smiled and went back to doomscrolling on TikTok.
Kenny tried to get back into their usual silent rhythm, but it was impossible to focus on anything after his best friend just kissed him because a Tiktok video told him to!
It's not like there was any context that could help Kenny! Was there something he'd missed in their relationship? Was this gonna change anything?
Would it change everything?
After Kenny had spiraled some more while pretending to be on his phone, he decided to ask Anthony about. Kenny took a deep breath before turning to the side so he was facing Anthony.
"So uh–"
"Hey, sorry, but I gotta go. My dad's calling my for dinner." Anthony interrupted with a sorry expression on his face.
"Oh yeah of course. Get home safe alright?"
Why would he say that? Now he couldn't even ask him.
Anthony smiled at him.
"I'll text you. See you tomorrow, Kenny."
Kenny just nodded like an idiot.
"See you."
...
Kenny sighed as he jumped headfirst onto his bed. He groaned into his pillow. He'd stayed at that bench for god-knows-how-long before Anthony sent him a message and he snapped back to reality.
As much as he didn't want to admit it, he had no idea what to do. He thought about asking Shawn for advice, but decided to save that for when he was really desperate. He picked up his phone and browsed through his contacts.
His eyes lingered hesitantly over Anthony's name. He kept scrolling until he saw Robby's name. Would he help? Maybe Kenny should ask for help some other time. Robby could be busy—this wasn't worth bothering him for.
Kenny put his phone face down beside him staring at the ceiling. He nearly fell asleep when his phone suddenly buzzed. He checked the notification. It was from Anthony.

some other time then:)
Well, he was definitely calling Robby tonight. He pressed his ear to his door before calling, just to be sure his brother wasn't listening, suddenly being hit with the realisation that Kenny is very paranoid. He pressed the call button and waited for Robby hoped he'd answer.
Robby picked up on the third ring.
"Hey, Kenny. What's up?"
"Hi. I know this is sudden and you might be busy so if you've got somewhere to be you know you can always–"
"Kenny. I picked up. What's going on?" Robby sounded concerned.
"I need advice."
He started.
"Shoot."
"Me and Anthony were hanging out earlier and–"
"Anthony, huh?" He said knowingly.
The concern in Robby's voice was gone—replaced by curiosity.
"Shut up." Kenny muttered.
"Everything was normal, then Anthony showed my this TikTok video and it was like 'Kiss the first person that pops up when you press share then more!' or something andthenhekissedme." He said everything in one quick go.
There was a prolonged silence on the other end. Kenny was worried Robby wouldn't help him. Maybe this was a bad idea.
"So," Robby said suddenly. "You hated it, right?"
"I mean, I didn't hate it. I just–"
"You didn't hate it?" Robby interrupted.
"I–" Kenny paused. He was so busy thinking about what it meant, he didn't even think about if he liked it.
"I don't... I don't think so, I mean his lips were really soft." He said after a moment.
"Then what's your problem? He kissed you, you liked it. Seems pretty standard."
Good. Standard.
This was normal. Everything's fine.
"So, we're fine? This is normal?"
He asked.
"I never said that. It's normal for a kiss. And kissing is normal, but not for 'friends', Kenny." Robby told him.
"So, what'd do I do?"
Kenny asked.
"Maybe figure out what you want with him. Or what he wants with you. Either or works."
"Thanks, Robby. I'll think it over."
"Anytime." He paused, "Did you tell your brother yet?"
"You're the first."
"Glad you thought of me."
Kenny rolled his eyes at Robby's smugness.
"Yeah, yeah. Night, Keene. Thanks again."
Kenny could practically hear Robby's smile. "Night, Payne."
Kenny sighed once they hung up. Robby made it sound so much easier than it really was. He should probably ask more advice from Devon. Or maybe Tory? She seemed to have plenty of experience with mixed signals from LaRussos.
Either way, Kenny had to get it together.
