Chapter Text
A Fallen Angel
College was a fun experience for Beca, she had made awesome friends and she had learned how her music could change people. Plus, she also discovered her awesome powers, which was always fun. But, as she graduated she realized that she wanted something different for her life. She would continue her journey with music, but she decided that she was going to become a producer, the best producer that New York had ever seen. “I want you guys to come with me, let’s be partners!”
Stacie, Fat Amy, Emily, and Aubrey looked at Beca, they took their time really studying her, seeing any sign that what she was saying was a joke. “I don’t understand Becs, I thought you wanted to become a singer?” Stacie asked, looking more concerned by the minute as she realized what Beca was saying wasn’t a joke.
“I did, but then I realized that I could help more people if I became a producer. Also, I could do my own music in my free time!” Fat Amy nodded silently, while her other friends kept on staring at her.
“I’m in, Becs, I trust you completely” Fat Amy said with a smile playing on her lips, Beca smiled back at her. “But, I want you to produce my music”
“Me too” Emily said, also starting to smile at the idea.
“Fuck it, me too, I trust you” Stacie said while hugging her friend, “We’re going to be the best team in this whole city”
“You bet we are!” Aubrey exclaimed with a smile, “So, what’s going to happen now?”
Beca smirked in response, “That’s the best part”
Beca had taken all of her savings, and with that she rented a worn out studio. Sure, it was dirty and old, but it was all theirs. With time they renovated the place and they all got to work. Beca took the lead in production, Fat Amy became the studio’s mix engineer, Emily was the songwriter, Stacie’s work was in the A&R department, and Aubrey was the undeniable leader. Aubrey brought in the investors, the money, and the power that they needed to become bigger. With time, they did become one of the biggest and newest studios in New York.
Most days they ran in coffee and pure anxiety, however, they were thriving. Stacie brought in the biggest underground talent that the industry had to offer, and the dream team made their musical dreams come true. The newest artist was named Camila, she was a part of a famous girl group, but she signed with them to become a soloist as well. “I’m so excited to be here, miss Conrad”
Stacie smiled, “Of course, miss Cabello, we hope you feel at home here. And, we hope that soon you’ll bring the rest of your band here”
Camila nodded agreeing with the tall girl, “Oh yeah, don’t worry about that, we’ll be signing here soon”
“Amazing, let me show you around, and you could meet the rest of the team”
Camila smiled politely, “That would be wonderful”
Stacie showed Camila around, she saw everything the studio had to offer, and as she walked around she was convinced she made the right decision. Afterwards, she met Aubrey, who laid down her contract, “We would be signing you for three years, it could be more if you like it here”
“I think there is a big possibility of that happening” Aubrey grinned at her response. She then watched the young singer sign the contract.
“Great! Welcome to M-Studios!” Aubrey said, standing up and stretching her arm for Camila to shake her hand. Camila shook it with a big smile, “Now, would you like to meet our production team?”
“I’ve been dying to meet them”
The first person that they ran into was Emily, she showed Camila her greatest hits and she explained how the songwriting process worked with her. Camila seemed happy with Emily’s work, she was a songwriter herself, but she could always look to Emily for help. Then they went to the mix engineer, Fat Amy, the equipment was amazing and the engineer looked nice. And, finally, they met Beca.
Beca was finishing up one of her latest songs, which she gladly showed Camila, with that she was absolutely certain this was her best decision. And, the producer was cute as well which was a great bonus.
Camila’s sign was what ultimately consolidated the studio, afterwards bigger stars signed with them, including Camila’s band which was heard worldwide. With that Aubrey was finally able to hire more crew, which relieved some of the responsibility. Beca, Emily, and Fat Amy started working with the bigger stars exclusively. A couple of years flew by as the studio grew bigger and bigger, which made them move to a proper studio located at the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in New York. Beca and Camila became one of the world’s hottest couples, which gave the studio more visibility.
However, after a couple of years had gone by, Camila’s and Beca’s marriage fell apart. They divorced in private, they decided to look like a couple publicly, for the sake of the studio and all of their friends. But, in private, they silently broke off their relationship. They saw each other often, as they had a kid to raise, but Camila was rarely seen in the studio.
Present Day…
Beca was overlooking the city, it was late at night, she checked the studio in silence to see if there was anyone left inside. After making sure there was no one there she changed in silence. Her red and blue suit staring back at her. “Alright, let’s do this” she slid down her mask, as she prepared to jump out the window. She loved doing night patrol, it was dark, it was nice, and she could listen to some music as she swung by the city. She caught some bad guys, she helped some kids get home, and then she stopped by her old building to eat a snack. She was happy, her studio was thriving, her daughter was safe, and she was a great hero… but she felt like something was missing from her life.
She looked at the sky and sighed, sometimes she thought there was someone missing, but she pushed that feeling down. She had grown scared of love since her divorce, they became friends after a while, but that didn’t mean they hadn’t had a nasty divorce. She stood up and got closer to the ledge, as she was about to jump she noticed the sky became darker. Which was weird, and then it got worse, she saw blue lightning which scared her so she jumped to see what was going on. Thunder roared throughout the city, but Beca couldn’t see what was causing those blue lightning. A storm was about to break out, but surprisingly it didn’t rain, nothing happened, the clouds just disappeared and the sky shined with several stars again.
“What the fuck…?” Beca stopped again in another building, she looked at the sky in confusion, but after a while she just shrugged. She was about to do her last round before going home, but she suddenly heard a scream. The noise was loud so she managed to track the voice down to a close alley.
She jumped down startling the men that she saw, “What are you fellas doing so late at night?” She asked in a low voice.
The men snickered in response, “Wouldn’t you like to know, Spiderman”
“I would, I would… I bet you guys don’t want a beat down”
They laughed again, “Oh! This is going to be fun” the leader said.
“Man… it’s so late at night, but whatever, bring it on” She said as she gestured for them to come forward. The leader took the chance and swung a bat at her, she dodged in time grabbing the bat in the way. With that in hand, she threw it with force to one of the other guys, with her other hand she shot a web at the leader’s foot. She made him fall with force, while he was down she wrapped him in spider webs which trapped him. The other guys got scared and ran away, one with a tough hit to the head. “Well, that was fun”
She was about to leave when she sensed another person at the end of the alley. She walked slowly, there was no sense of danger, but she had to be cautious. As she got closer she noticed a woman laying down on the floor, when the woman turned to look at her she got scared and tried to move, but she seemed too weak to move. “It’s okay!” Beca said while showing her hands, “I won’t hurt you… are you okay?”
“Yes…” she whispered back, “Where am I?”
“An alley… in New York” The woman looked confused, which worried Beca, “Do you need me to take you anywhere?”
The woman shook her head, “I don’t even know where I am…”
Concerned, Beca got closer to the woman, “What’s your name?”
The woman didn’t know the stranger in a costume, but she decided that she could trust him. He had saved her after all, “Chloe…”
“Right… Chloe… I’ll help you stand up, and afterwards I’ll take you home” Chloe nodded in response, she stood with help of the stranger. However, as she stood up, she felt weak and she passed out in the stranger’s arms.
“Oh shit…” Beca said, mostly to herself, this was going to be a long night.
