Chapter Text
Aquwa passed by the corner store, stepping on the wet pavement ever so casually. Occasionally she heard the noise of a damp leaf, but she didn't check to look what or where it was. Sounds of humming came from her.
In this uncommon day without rain, it could be said as a drought to describe how unusual it was. Despite that, it was not the reason she decided to take a stroll.
Aquwa was going to the tax office.
A month has already went and gone ever so quickly since she arrived in London, thus she went to visit the office. She wore a hoodie to insulate herself from the cold, holding a plastic bag of papers.
She passed by a well-lit building, displaying nice dresses on the glass container of the building. ‘Ouch, is the universe is mocking me for not having a boyfriend? Frick you too!’ she thought at she stared at the sky in displeasure.
She proceeded on, passing by a liquor store on her right.
The smell of moist asphalt was hardly sensed, sounds of vehicles passing by audible.
Then, suddenly, a quick truck came—splashing the pavement with water as it passed. In response, Aquwa moved her left arm to, at the least, cover her face, she involuntarily stopped humming with the appearance of the fast moving car.
Aquwa: [Wa-WOAH!]
Right before the rainwater on the road got sprayed in her direction, she found that someone used an umbrella to cover her—keeping her from getting soaked.
The sound of squishing came from the tires of the passing truck, water dripped from the sopping and drenched umbrella that took the hit for her. In Aquwa's astonishment, she tried to take a glance at the kind person who helped her, but they were already walking away from the scene.
They wore a green hoodie with a hexagonal pattern, she couldn't make out the features the unknown person had, but they were definitely at least 6 feet tall. The umbrella they held was now neatly fixed, the dripping water flowed from the tip of it.
Aquwa stuttered, shouting at them gratitude expressed in words.
Aquwa: [Uh- THANK YOU!]
That person didn't respond, not even looking behind to check who thanked them.
Aquwa sighed, continuing on her way to the tax office.
A little later on, right before passing a bridge. She unintentionally comes across a movie theater on her way. In the queue—a certain person is blended among them.
She looked closer, squinting her eyes as she stopped walking. ‘That guy looks familiar... I already know he's the one who saved me a lot of trouble, but what is it about him that I just can't place my finger on it...’ Aquwa stared blankly, searching the depths of her memories to find what makes this singular person so important.
He wore a black, plain t-shirt. The green hoodie was neatly held by his forearm, his facial expression showed slightly tired, and less alert. Beside him was an energetic girl who held a camera, the camera seemingly had a twitch stream on.
Then, something clicked for Aquwa.
After a full 15 seconds of thinking and staring at a random stranger for seemingly no reason, she saw a resemblance between this person and Vedal—Neuro-sama's creator and famous turtle. In that moment, she connected the dots as she saw the back him clearly.
Aquwa: [Vedal!?]
Accidentally, she said his name out loud in the spur of the moment. She gasped, quickly covering her mouth with both of her hands.
He quickly looked around, searching for who said his name. As he spotted her, he realized that she was the one who said his name.
He murmured towards the girl beside him, who nodded as he left his spot and walked up to Aquwa. ‘He's walking to me!? Is this the end!? Why did I say his name out loud!???’ was the Alien Vtuber's thoughts as she stood, almost frozen in her place.
Vedal: [How... do you know that?]
He stopped just a few centimetres away from her. The height difference was as clear as day, he awaited an answer from the motionless woman, standing in a way that made him unintentionally intimidating.
Silence.
Vedal didn't get a reply, but he just sighed in a way that made him look friendlier.
Vedal: [I'm not mad, just tell me how.]
...
Silence ensued-
Aquwa: [Uh- well, I just figured it out..? I'm Aquwa, nice to meet you..? I guess.]
She extended her hand to the suspecting person, in return, he just scratched his head, making a face expressing that he was having a rough migraine, Vedal held his temples.
Vedal: [I've heard of you before, I guess it's fine if you know. I assume you yourself know how important keeping your face private information when you have a fanbase.]
Aquwa smiled awkwardly, staring at Vedal who decided to walk back to his place in the queue.
Aquwa: [Wait!]
He stopped in his tracks and looked at her.
Aquwa catched up to where he was in his path and asked him one unique question.
Aquwa: [Can I uhh... Have your autograph?]
Vedal gazed at her awkward facial expression, and nodded—sighing again. Taking out a pen from his pocket, he gestured for her to grab something he could write his signature on.
Aquwa hurriedly grabbed a random piece of paper from her plastic bag—making sure it is not the paper she needed for the tax office. She grabbed something weird that had holes on the paper, revealing just more paper. ‘I don't think this is important,’ taking it out to show him.
Aquwa: [Here! Just uh, sign on the... hole of the thing!]
He signed the sheet, asking a question after he was done.
Vedal: [Aquwa... why are you here?]
Aquwa: [I-I was just going to the tax office to pay my taxes, yeah!]
That confused Vedal, who asked why she wasn't just doing it online.
Vedal: [You aren't doing that on the internet? Why?]
Aquwa: [Well, I'm just... kind of worried I might mess it up you could say. At least if I was talking to the authorities they can help me do it correctly.]
Vedal: [...I see. Good luck.]
He walked back to the girl who held his place for him, seems like it was a friend of his the way they talked and the way he was annoyed.
Aquwa didn't pry, she just left from the scene.
Aquwa: [Aw man, I accidentally gave them the piece of paper Vedal signed. But for some reason, they took it to a different department, to a registrar..? I gave them the actual document but they didn't give my autograph back!]
She laid on the couch, slouching, lounging around bored and annoyed slightly. It was raining, not light rain but not heavy rain—it was normal rain.
She reminisced about the encounter she had with Vedal, the feeling-
*ring*
The doorbell rang, she jumped in surprise—landing on her feet. She walked to the door, checking the peephole to see who rang it.
She was confused, ‘A guy in a suit..? Who is this?’ She opened the door, perplexed.
“Ah, greetings madam, I am here to notify you about the marriage certificate. Congratulations madam, I hope your marriage is prosperous and have a wonderful day.”
Aquwa thought, ‘Marriage!? I didn't marry anybody!?’ She thought about it clearly, trying to find out what this meant. ‘I think they have the wrong person- wait.’ The british lad was already gone while she connected the dots.
Aquwa: [WAS THAT SHEET OF PAPER A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE!?]
’Oh no.’
Aquwa closed the front door. She panicked, sitting down on the couch with her hands gripping the sides of her head. ‘Oh no, did I accidentally marry Vedal!?’
She had an idea, Aquwa rushed to her computer in another room, and searched up “uk marriage divorce laws”, to her dismay, the results revealed that she cannot leave this problem that fast.
Results:
You can get divorced in England or Wales if all of the following are true: you've been married for over a year, your relationship has permanently broken down. your marriage is legally recognised in the UK.
Aquwa: [A YEAR!? That's way too long!]
She took a deep breath, sighing in despair. ‘Whyyyy... this supposed “marriage” has already been recognized in the UK registration!’
Taking a glance towards the discord tab she had open on her PC, specifically the Neuro-sama Headquarters discord server. ‘How am I gonna explain this!? “Oh hey Vedal I accidentally married you and we can't get divorced for a year” sucks for an explanation!’
Aquwa: [Ah!]
She slammed her head on the desk, looking to the side. Incidentally, the side she looked at was where the Vedal plush she brought to the UK was.
sigh...
‘Everywhere I go, I see his face.’
