Chapter Text
Dex was absolutely content with his high school life as a seventeen year old junior. He was fine with it.
Of course when he was sitting alone in the library during lunch, studying for a test he had next period, that is when Fitz Vacker also came into the library to look for some sort of textbook for one of his classes.
And, of course, Fitz approached the table where Dex was sitting with his notes all sprawled across the library table and decided to talk to Dex.
“Uh, hey. Do you know where I can find a physics textbook?” Fitz asked, his stupid voice smooth, deep which made many girls in the school swoon.
Dex glanced up at Fitz who looked perfect.
He wore such clean clothes, had the dark shade of purple Foxfire Academy varsity jacket since he was the captain of the football team (and rumoured that he takes boxing out of school, a boring rumour to some but further makes the girls swoon), the number 08 on it with his name embroidered under it, those smaller details were in yellow. His hair styled neatly, brushed back with his fingers most likely.
Meanwhile Dex looked like a wreck, wearing a baggy hoodie that used to be his father’s, may have had a few stains on the sleeves, and he wore some ripped jeans since he didn’t want to bother his family to buy him new clothes, especially when the triplets were all still growing.
“Uhm…” Dex stammered, not really expecting for Fitz to talk to him, especially since Dex was certain Fitz had no clue who he was. “Over there, far right.” Dex pointed to the aisle of bookshelves where the science textbooks usually were.
Fitz tapped the edge of the desk and gave Dex a small smile. “Thanks.” Fitz said before turning away to head to where Dex pointed.
Dex furrowed his eyebrows and watched as Fitz walked off for a few seconds before he shook his head and focused back on studying, biting at the end of his pen as he glanced over all of his notes across the table.
Fitz had found the textbook he had been looking for and he made sure to check it out with the librarian. Just as he was about to leave, he glanced back over to where Dex was sitting, focused on his studying for whatever upcoming test Fitz had assumed he had.
His gaze lingered on Dex, taking in his appearance. He had seen Dex a few times in the hallways, even heard about him from his sister Biana since they were in the same year and shared some classes together. His strawberry blonde hair was always a mess, a mix of waves/curls, and it fell over his face a lot. Fitz's eyes flickered to Dex's expression as he was studying, noticing how Dex was locked in, clearly a hard worker and probably the smartest in the junior year.
Fitz turned away and headed out of the library. There was no need to stare at the younger boy, he got the textbook he needed and really should get back to the cafeteria where his friends were.
