the first time he chusan shares a bed with xia liuyi, he caught a whiff of his natural scent.
he chusan always wondered why xia liuyi as the gang leader took suppressants for his scent. an alpha’s scent usually had good use, especially in terms of combat which was what xia liuyi was up to a lot. doesn’t suppressing the scent take away an advantage he could have?
besides, xia liuyi’s scent was pleasant, didn’t smell overpowering or too potent. it was the aroma of honey with a tint of mint, one of he chusan’s favourite drink concoctions. the scent was just too alluring to he chusan, he couldn’t help but scooch over closer to xia liuyi.
“扑街仔，我让睡在床上不是要你当我老公。快点移回去！” (you bastard! letting you sleep on my bed doesn’t mean that you’re my husband. move away!) xia liuyi scolded the younger, eliciting the usual pleading puppy eyes.
“六一哥，你—” (liuyi ge, you—)
”别多说了，睡。” (don’t talk already, sleep.) xia liuyi didn’t give him the chance to finish the sentence.
”好的，六一哥。” (okay, liuyi ge.) he chusan obediently listened to his words, turning around and finally sleeping.
apparently, he chusan’s body has a mind of its own because when he woke up in the morning, he found himself tucked in xia liuyi’s arms, his head tucked in the nook of his shoulder. when he took a breath, he could fully take in xia liuyi’s enticing scent. he gently rubbed his cheek against the exposed skin, finding comfort in the warmth.
when he felt xia liuyi fumbling, he quickly stilled himself and closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.
“何影帝，别装了。我知道你醒了。” (acting king he chusan, stop pretending. i know you’re awake.) xia liuyi could tell from the way he chusan was smiling, he forgot to wipe that away.
”早上好，六一哥。” (good morning liuyi ge.)
“你在干嘛？离我远一点！” (what are you doing? get away from me!) xia liuyi gently pushed him away, causing he chusan to chuckle slightly.
“但是六一哥气味好香啊。” (but you smell so good.) To put emphasis, he chusan took another good whiff of xia liuyi.
“别说这些废话！” (stop saying nonsense!) xia liuyi scolded under his breath.
“但是真的太香了，我可能迷上了，你得负责。” (but you really smell good, i may already be addicted, you have to take responsibility.) he chusan says seductively, not ever leaving eye contact.
”什么屁话！” (what bullshit!) xia liuyi scolds under his breath.
when xia liuyi tries to walk away, he chusan pulls him back down, pinning him onto the bed and nestling his head in liuyi’s neck, where the scent gland would be.
”为什么味道那么淡？你不是alpha吗？” (why is your smell so faint? are you not an alpha?)
”何初三你在干什么！” (he chusan, what are you doing!) xia liuyi tried to push away he chusan but he wouldn’t budge.
“你的味道让我太舒服了。” (you’re scent makes me so comfortable.)
before xia liuyi could do anything, he chusan lifted his shirt up, rubbing his hands all over him as if he was trying to find something.
“气味的遏抑剂贴在哪里？” (where’s your scent suppressants?) he chusan said while his hands were still searching.
”什么遏抑剂？我没戴！” (what suppressants? i don’t wear any!) xia liuyi swatted his hands away.
[a/n: i’m not sure what suppressants are in chinese, correct me if i’m wrong in the translation]
”你真的不是个alpha？” (are you really not an alpha?) he chusan was in full shock mode. this gang leader wasn’t an alpha?
”我什么时候说过我是alpha？” (when did i ever say i was an alpha?)
“所以你是……” (so you’re a……)
”只是个普通的beta。” (just a regular beta.)
”那…那我怎么办？” (then…then what about me?) he chusan had a sheepish smile on his face.
”你发情了？” (you’re in heat/rut?) xia liuyi actually got worried, he didn’t want he chusan to feel uncomfortable.
[a/n: in chinese, 发情 can mean both in a heat and rut. usually it is inferred by the gender of the animal but in this case, since gender isn’t an indicator, the meaning remains ambiguous]
he chusan nodded his head in slight embarrassment.
”你是omega？？？” (you’re an omega???)
”不是。” (no.)
”你是alpha？” (you’re an alpha?) xia liuyi couldn’t believe this college graduate could be an alpha. sure he was tall but his build wasn’t a typical alpha’s build. he also didn’t show any signs of being an alpha in his personality.
“也算不是吧。” (not really either.)
”你在搞什么鬼？不是alpha也不是omega怎么能发情？” (what are you saying? not an alpha and not an omega, how can you be in heat/rut?)
”六一哥，我……我……是个enigma。” (liuyi ge, i…i’m an enigma.)
xia liuyi can only stare at he chusan in disbelief. was he actually telling him that this university graduate was a rare one in a million enigma?
“不可能吧？你是不是在骗我？” (this can’t be. are you lying to me?)
”六一哥，我什么时候跟你说过谎？我现在就是特别难受，你的气味是唯一能让我舒服的。” (liuyi ge, when did i ever lie to you. i’m feeling so uncomfortable, your scent is the only thing that makes me comfortable.)
”…….”
”六一哥，让我多嗅一下。” (liuyi ge, let me sniff you more.)
just like that, he chusan was back on xia liuyi, without any resistance. his hands went back onto his chest, this time with the intention to touch than to search. xia liuyi’s scent flooded his mind, all he could think of was to feel more of the this man on him.
“六一哥，你真的很香。” (liuyi ge, you really smell so good.) he chusan compliments as he removes xia liuyi’s shirt.
xia liuyi is now dazed under he chusan. it seemed that he chusan’s suppressants were no longer effective enough, now taking effect on xia liuyi.
“六一哥，你完全都是我的。” (liuyi ge, you’re all mine.) he chusan mutters under his breath, just loud enough for xia liuyi to hear.
little did xia liuyi know, he really was going to completely he chusan’s that night.
