It was late at night. 2:43 AM, to be exact. Iono sat trembling in the dark, tears streaming down her face. Piers had broken up with her without a warning, blocking her on every social media account they shared. Looking back on it now, the relationship had always felt painfully one-sided.
"What did I do? I gave you all I had.. You can't just walk out on me like this. It's not fair. Was I not good enough for you..?" Iono choked through her tears. Her moment of sorrow now bordering on a panic attack. She decided that here in this moment she would be taking a hiatus from streaming, she couldn't parade around her usual joyful self when she was feeling awful.
Over the course of a few weeks her fans got concerned, some of her fans tried reaching out to Piers, but he wouldn't respond because why would he? He broke her heart and if he explained that he did that her fans would spread false rumors. Not responding was a mistake, because they spread false rumors about him cheating on her with his ex-boyfriend: Raihan. The dragon-type gym leader back in Hammerlocke. Iono and Raihan had large audiences so Raihan's audience caught wind of these rumors and alerted him.
"Huh? Me and Piers haven't dated in 3 years. Thought he was happy with his new girl from Levincia, Paldea?" Raihan muttered to himself. He opened his phone and made a post addressing the rumors.
The post stated: "Me and Piers have not been a couple for 3 years. Any and all posts that I made of me and him together have been taken down. I'm so sorry for whatever Piers has done to Iono. I noticed she hasn't streamed in a good few weeks. I'll reach out to her myself and see what she says, we do follow each other due to collabing a few times."
Iono was snuggling with her Pokemon when her phone lit up with a notification from Raihan. She wiped the tears from her eyes and opened the message.
Raihan's message read: "Hey! Is everything good with you and Piers? You haven't been streaming for awhile. Something happen?"
Piers. That name brought tears to her eyes, but she had to say something, she couldn't keep it in forever.. she'd only end up feeling worse. She typed back.
"Piers broke up with me. We had a faught and he admitted to never loving me. He was just trying to make me happy. I would've understood if he told me, but he lead me on. I feel so sick, I don't know what to do anymore."
Behind the screen Raihan had an appalled look on his face. Like that look you get when you hear something really fucked up and this was one of those situations.
"Holy shit.. that's so fucked up. I'm so sorry, Iono. I never thought he could do something so cruel. Please rest up and take some time for yourself. I'll tell our fans that you're stepping away due to personal reasons, okay? Again. I'm so sorry to hear that." Raihan replied, hints of sympathy in his text.
Iono hearted his message and put her phone away. She just lied there and cried, she felt so lonely, there was a gaping hole in heart. She spent the rest of her week listening to music, gaming, drawing, and playing with her pokemon rather than battling. She was still in major emotional pain and would cry often, a lot of things reminded her of him. She couldn't take it so she just decided to lie down and accept it.. he'd probably find someone else in no time. He'd forget about her without a care in the world about how she's doing. As she lied there Iono fell into a fitful sleep of tossing and turning, she saw Piers in her dreams, she hated this so much, she wanted to forget him but she couldn't. She just decided to watch TV instead, she really couldn't sleep.
"Angel. You should try sleeping, okay? I'll be here when you wake up." She heard his voice in her head, tears filled her eyes and she cried. He wasn't there and he wouldn't be there when she would wake up ever again. This was annoying her to her core.. her every waking thought being related to Piers. She continued to watch TV, hiring the voluming on it to tune out the remnants of his voice from her head. As she did that, her racing thoughts calmed down and all the heaving she was doing had calmed. Iono smiled for once this week.
