Chapter Text
His eyes peeled open, as the faint sounds of birds chirping filled his consciousness. Joshua wasn't aware of were he was, but he never would've guessed it would be this. He spiraled around, the brisk air from outside brushing his face through the smashed window. He looked around, dazed and confused. He couldn't remember how he got there, or why he was on the hard, oak floor, or why he could smell wet, fresh paint or taste copper in his mouth from the blood pooling inside, but he could remember something... something had happened to everyone before he lost consciousness. He sat up slowly, trying to regain as much thoughts back as possible, his vision blurred, and his cheek sliced open, from a mysterious source. His head felt heavy, barely coherent. He stood up once he had the ability to, then pierced his eyes around the room. He wasn't sure of what he was looking for, maybe a clue? a hint on what had happened. He checked his pockets for his phone, which was nowhere to be spotted. He walked through the building, paint chipping off the walls with blood marks streaked on the walls, glass shards scattered on the floor, which made a crunching noise when Joshua walked on it.
Hello..? Is anyone else here?
Said the blonde haired boy, trying to make out weather or not he was the only 'sole' survivor of this mass-extinction or not. He began to walk through the hallways, until he stumbled across a bathroom. He slowly walked in, not able to make out what the faint shadows in his view were. He noticed the way some of them were slumped over, some barely breathing, and some... well, some were not alive. He withdrew as soon as he grasped onto the amount of blood was marked everywhere. The walls were doused in blood, the mirrors were cracking beyond help, the faucets, some were cupped with blood, and some were dismounted from the walls.
He scurried off backwards, barely making it out after stumbling over his feet. those shadows, they were not alive. He dashed through the halls, tears submerging his view and slowly seeping out of his eyes, until one flight of stairs, turned into five flights of stairs. his legs burned from the running, from the escaping, but he couldn't help it, he needed to find help, to find his younger brother, to find... something. He ran until his legs eventually gave out and caved in beneath him. He was so close to escape, so close to freedom, until...
Josh..?
Josh's viewpoint changed from the floor, to the figure in the hallway. The stature was short, but compared to josh's shriveled body, it looked like it gaped over him. The figure progressed further, until he noticed the familiar framing of the glasses, and the way the crack in them reflected into a hexagon of colors on the ground.
its me, Josh. it's Noah.
Noah, Josh's younger brother. His annoying, yet very much alive younger brother. Josh stood up to quickly, not even registering his emotions. His arms wrapped around Noah's stance, making sure to make it known to Josh that this wasn't a joke, and that he was real. Noah looked up at Josh, as Josh pulled away, unaware of what to do.
