Chapter Text
Emilia awoke in her cabin aboard the Argo II. She sat up groggily and rubbed her eyes. Said eyes drifted over to her little alarm clock that she brought on board. 5:42 A.M, she thought, that gives me about 20 minutes to get ready. Gods, my hair is a mess..always so frizzy in the mornings, thought Emilia as she looked in her hand-held mirror. She managed to bring herself to actually brush her hair, put on deodorant, and brush her teeth. She felt so proud of herself. It was a struggle to do anything like that most days, so doing so made her so happy. She then switched into her bright orange Camp Half-Blood shirt and a random pair of jorts, before tying her shoes. After tying her shoes, she walked into the common area. Only Piper, Hazel, and Jason were there so far. Emilia sat down where there was a seat next to her, for Leo, of course. “Good morning, guys,” Emilia started, “Where’s everyone else?” Even saying those words was a lot. See, Emilia was very selective on her friends. She had made Leo her “special interest”. Conversing with others that she hadn’t been super interested had been hard. Why? It might’ve stemmed from being bullied. Maybe she was just like that. But, her even saying good morning and asking about the others was a huge step. If she had tried that a few weeks ago, she would’ve had a breakdown. “I assume they’re still waking up,” said Hazel. Frank lumbered in. The guy still looked tired, and he probably was since he hadn’t even brushed his hair yet. Everyone said a greeting, except for Emilia. She was tired of talking. “Hello to you too.” Frank said sarcastically. Emilia didn’t pick up on this sarcasm, and replied “But, I didn’t even say anything?” “Sarcasm” “Oh.” Hazel turned to Frank, “Don’t be rude.” Frank nodded. Gradually, the rest of the crew filed in. Everyone knew that Emilia wanted to be beside Leo, so they all avoided the empty seat next to her. Emilia appreciated it greatly. Finally, once the whole crew had assembled. Emilia felt her hand drifting to Leo’s under the table. They locked eyes for a few moments, before being pulled back in by Leo turning away because his name was said. This upset her a bit, but she knew she had to get back to the task at hand. “So, did anyone have any new dreams? We need to know just in case,” Percy said, addressing the table. Emilia tapped Leo and whispered to him. Leo cleared his throat, “Emilia says that she had a dream about the ship being attacked.” The crew seemed uneasy at this news. Percy replied, “That’s not..great. Knowing demi-god dreams it’ll most likely come true. It’s odd though, normally dreams aren’t that clear.” “You’re right…That is odd,” Annabeth agreed. Emilia whispered some more, Leo said, “Mimi made sense of it while getting ready. She said the dream wasn’t crystal clear, but it was definitely clearer than normal. She also said it took place at sunrise, or sunset…she couldn’t tell.” Emilia blushed at that nickname. Mimi? It was really cute to her. But she quickly focused back on the task at hand: The possible sea monster attack. The crew began to talk among themselves about the alleged sea monster attack. The attack could be now, because it was sunrise. “Leo, maybe you could do a scan with Festus?” Annabeth suggested. Leo kinda forgot he could do that. He nodded and agreed though. He went up to the deck, and Emilia followed. “Festus!” Leo yelled across the deck, “Do a scan of the area!” Festus creaked and whirred in response. Leo identified the morse code quickly
