The Desert of Spice disappeared in the dead of night. The crumbs left after the fight with Golden Cheese Cookie still laid forgotten in the sand.
Burning Spice Cookie was standing in a small, wooden port, waiting for one special boat.
Hours had passed, but he still stood there.
Until a small ship, decorated with purple colors came into his view.
The first and only cookie to get off the ship was Dark Cacao Cookie.
His clothes were rich and their color palette was extremely unusual for the land of Spice, purple, black and silver. One could compare his clothes to the clothes worn in the Ivory Pagoda, but with a less pale version of the color palette of the armor that the Kala Namak knight wore. His eyes shone in the moonlight like amethysts and his hair freely flew in the warm wind.
Burning Spice Cookie started to smile, like he just witnessed the most brutal destruction ever. He couldn't be happier. Those two cookies rarely see each other but when they do It's Burning Spice Cookie's favorite time of the month.
Their greeting was quick, but It was visible how much emotions they were holding inside.
"Well hello, it's good to see you again" said Dark Cacao Cookie. While speaking, a soft smile appeared on his face.
"Hi! Oh, I just couldn't wait to see you again!" Burning Spice Cookie yelled out. "Let's go to our spot!"
And as they head to a cave, decorated with colorful fabrics, Dark Cacao Cookie caught a Cookie's eye.
He stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the reds and oranges of the Spice Desert, so it wasn't hard for his to get noticed by some cookie and that cookie being Nutmeg Tiger Cookie.
Any other cookie would avoid staring at them for too long, but she didn't care. Actually she has been seeing them both together for some time already.
Dark Cacao Cookie's first appearance in these lands happened a few months ago.
After council in the Creme Republic decided that Burning Spice Cookie was still a large threat to Crispia.
It was decided to send Dark Cacao Cookie to the Spice Desert. The bitter cookie was supposed to attack the great destroyer and weaken him to a state in which he would be able to hurt anyone.
That was the idea.
But the council didn't think that Dark Cacao Cookie was still healing after the flour plague and that he might lose the fight.
So the cookie of resolution was sent out to the Beast Yeast continent to fight only to lose after an entire day of battle, as the weather was even against him, it being terribly hot.
Burning Spice Cookie could just kill him on the spot, but he didn't.
He chose to make a deal.
That Dark Cacao Cookie would visit him every two weeks and in return Burning Spice Cookie wouldn't invade Crispia.
The Great Destroyer needed some kind of entertainment and a Cookie so fierce was just perfect
He even built a small port, just so his new friend, his new found treasure could have an easy way of arrival.
It was a secret between both of them, as they knew, if one of their allies would find out they would be in big trouble.
When the bitter king came back from the expedition, he made a lie that the plan went well and that Burning Spice Cookie was no longer a threat to their continent.
Many cookies congratulated him for doing such a heroic deed. After this plan "succeeded", the council started to prepare new plans.
So the visits began and continued for so long and the two cookies grew closer and closer.
All of those events led to today.
"Well, you probably already noticed the new decorations, I've added them to my beautiful cave!" Burning Spice Cookie shouted, the energy was almost pouring out of his voice.
"Yes, I have. All the colors look great together." Answered Dark Cacao Cookie. His voice was much calmer and it made the spicy cookie feel something in his chest.
Inside the cave there were countless fabrics hanging from the ceiling and on the floor there were colorful blankets and pillows just laying, carefully arranged in all the right spots.
But there was something that Dark Cacao Cookie also noticed.
It was the painting that adored the wall of the cave. They looked new and the paint was really vibrant. Some of them depicted the Great Destroyer himself, others the civilization that used to live in these lands and others depicted the scarce plant life that thrives in these deserts.
But one painting caught his eyes.
It was of the bitter king, laying in a seductive pose, only wearing a purple cloth around his waist covering his crotch.
Damn...
It left Dark Cacao Cookie speechless. Why would Burning Spice Cookie paint or request some to paint such a thing?
"U good? If it's too hot, I can bring you a fan so you can cool off." Asked the Beast. It would be reasonable for his to ask that, as Dark Cacao Cookie was blushing a deep red color.
"Aa... I'm okay" Dark Cacao Cookie mumbled in a really quiet tone. "I see you have a new hobby." He added quickly to divert attention from how red he was.
"HA! Yes, of course. I know it's really different from all the destruction I do, but I find it quite fun!" And that's how their conversation began.
They talk about how everything is going on their lands, friends, travel, food, the latest drama and many others. They spoke until there was a moment of silence.
And in that moment Burning Spice Cookie decided it was time to bring up something:
"Hey buddy, is something nagging ya? You've been frowning all."
"I'm not frowning." The other uttered. "Yes, you are!" The Great Destroyer retorted and with a loud sigh Dark Cacao Cookie finally gave him an answer.
"I have been thinking about the future...
out future"
The air around the two cookies started to grow heavier. Dark Cacao Cookie was avoiding the others sight.
"The council in the Creme Republic has been planning a fight with Dark Enchantress Cookie to end the dark flour war and that means, that We would have to fight against each other..."
"I guess that's the price, We have to pay for all these meet-up" Burning Spice Cookie professed, but quickly added "You know, you could just stay here forever, or I and the four cookies left on my side, could go to your kingdom and stay there forever!"
"You know that's a horrible idea." The bitter king chuckled. "But I could stay here till the morning, so at least We would be able to talk a bit more."
"Oh, well let's just hope your little servants won't start worrying about you!" The Great Destroyer joked.
"No need to worry about them" The shorter man retorted. "It's weird how you're so different then what Golden Cheese Cookie told me about you. Have you changed since then?"
The word 'changed' ranged in Burning Spice Cookie hand.
Have he changed?
Was he so different from before?
Where was his desire to destroy?
Was he still the Great Destroyer?
Or was he the Herald of Change again?
So after a moment of nothing, Burning Spice Cookie finally answered.
"I might have changed since then. I was thinking even about rebuilding the kingdom that use to stand here, but I realised that the other beasts would just make fun of me and Dark Enchantress Cookie would anyways destroy it all..."
As he spoke his voice shook. He sounds really tired, like the topic was tiring him out.
An awkward silence began after his answer, so to break it Burning Spice Cookie said:
"I'm going to get us some tea. I'll be right back" And so he went out the cave.
Now Dark Cacao Cookie had some time to think.
He felt really sorry for the other cookie. The sorriness was aching in his chest.
Wait, sorriness doesn't feel like that.
What was he feeling?
But before he could indulge in those thoughts, his companion came back with tea.
Both of their kingdoms is or was famous for their tea, so it's a nice snack for them to have.
But then the awkward silence came. The only sounds that could be heard were sipping of their tea and the quiet howl of the wind outside.
It all felt even weirder, because the Great Destroyer sat extremely close to the other cookie.
Their legs were constantly touching and their elbows kept hitting each other.
That's until Burning Spice Cookie spoke: "You know the reason why I want you to stay here isn't to cure my boredom" With every word the beastly Cookie uttered, their faces became closer and closer.
"It's because I fell in love with you"
Dark Cacao Cookie's eyes widened.
He was in love with me?!
Wait, is that what I have been feeling?
Love?
"You don't need to return my emotions, actu-" Burning Spice Cookie tried to mumble something to save himself from the embarrassment, but was cut off by a kiss.
"I love you too" Dark Cacao Cookie quickly confessed. "And I think I have loved you since we first met."
At this time, they were almost laying on top of each other. Their legs now intertwined, their faces so close, that they could we feel their partner's breath and now holding their hands together.
There were some giggles heard and some soft whispers as they talked now about the feeling the felt inside for so long.
They stayed like that for a few long hours, but all of that ended when Dark Cacao Cookie noticed how bright it was.
"Oh shit!" The ancient blurt out. " I was suppose to be back in my kingdom after sunrise!"
Burning Spice Cookie knew how important The Dark Cacao Kingdom was to him, so he didn't stop him, even though he already missed the closeness of their bodies.
They both ran to the small dock and the exchange their last words.
"Well, be safe on your return home and don't get hurt..."
"Goodbye. We will probably see each other soon"
And as the ship drifted further from shore Dark Cacao Cookie looked at Burning Spice Cookie one more time.
And for the last time his saw him in such domestic way.
