Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The waves on the island was calm when Snowbird arrived, though he can say the opposite for the sun—-he swears its rays were following him and his boat. No matter how cloudy it was that afternoon, the area he was currently in was sunny and bright. That annoying fact resulted to him being sweaty like he just committed a crime at the docks of his brother's vacation home—-now resort.

He came at the invitation of his nephew, Wifies, wedding. It's been years since he'd last seen his feather family, being busy with travels with his friend group; The Conspiracy.

"Look at what the tides brought in!" Snowbird looked away from his luggage in the boat to spot white long hair swaying with the wind as Saparata runs to him. "Snowbird, you old man, get over here!" He spreads his arms as he ran to hug his little brother.

Wow,

Snowbird took notice of his brother's change over the years. Longer hair but messy, eyebags darker since the last he saw him, and a smile that doesn't quite shine the same as it did 20 years ago. You've changed, Saps.

"You're older than me, dude!" But nonetheless, he meets Saps halfway at the docks, embracing Saparata like there's no tomorrow. "How've you been, Saps?" He broke the hug and took a closer look at his brother. His eyes were tired his posture was rather slump.

"The usual, taking care of the old resort; managing the customers; now planning a wedding! I can't believe it's been so long, man. I can still remember when Wifies introduced Derapchu—-he was so nervous he accidentally spoke Japanese while talking!" Saps snorts at the fond memory.

"How about you, Snow? How's your travels treating you?" The two brothers pick up the luggage he brought with him for his five-day stay at the resort. Snowbird arrived earlier than most guests, including The Conspiracy, to spend time with his family and to help set up the venue. "Good," Snowbird replies as the two walk uphill. "Met a bunch of people, ate different cuisines, etcetera etcetera."

"With that same group from 10 years ago?"

"Yes and we're called The Conspiracy, okay? Just a bunch of strangers turned friends trying to achieve the same goal."

"You invited them all to the wedding, right?" Saps looked back at him when he asked that question.

"Of course. Mostly because they're interested on who my siblings are, though." All except one. Flux is too good for a wedding, he supposes.

Snowbird stopped at his tracks when he saw the long flight of stairs to the entrance of Saps' resort. From here, he can see some of the staff moving up and about.

"Saps, why the fuck does your resort have like 200 steps of stairs to the entrance." Man in question was already walking on the flight of stairs with two of Snowbird's luggage in hand. He looked back to him when he asked that question. "It's 267 steps, actually. I'm not the one who designed this place, don't blame me. And why do you have to bring four luggage with you?"

"Five days is actually a long time, y'know." Snow finally moved to climb the stairs, having no other choice. From the sides, both staff and customer alike were passing by to get down. "Can't you just call a bell boy or something to help us?"

"No way. We're all busy—-all of my customers are leaving tonight because starting tomorrow till after the wedding, this resort will be private property for Wifies and Derap's wedding."

"Speaking of," They neared the top entrance. "Where's the lovebirds?" And as if cued, the to-be husbands were waiting for them at the reception area. Snow immediately noticed Wifies' growth, having been taller than anybody else in the room. "Wifies, you've grown too much; go back to that little tween you were when I last saw you!"

Wifies chuckled as he hugs Snow. The last time these two saw each other was around 6—7 years ago, if Snow's memory is correct. Heck, it was so long ago that Snow can't even recognize his voice anymore. "Nice to see you again, Uncle. This is Derapchu, my groom." He gestures towards his fiance, which gave him a wave and a smile before Snow initiated a hug.

"Take care of our family genius, alright?" He whispered to the man. "I'm not gonna give you a shovel talk 'cause I think Saps did that already." Snow swore he felt a shiver from the other. Ah, so he did.

When the two let go from the hug, he saw that Derapchu was no longer giving him a nervous smile because of meeting him for the first time, but rather because of the shovel talk memory. Jeez, what did Saps said to the poor guy.

Though he supposes he knows why Saparata was so protective of Wifies when it came to love. He wasn't given the details but he heard that around 20 years ago, his first love left him after a night of fun to marry someone else, and that person never found out about their child, Wifies.

It was an old tale that neither Jophiel nor Micro would talk to Snowbird about it, since he was just slightly younger and frankly it was none of his business.

He hopes whoever that guy was would pay. Specifically with Snow punching him.

"Show me that engagement ring, you two!"

But he guesses that it isn't relevant anymore, right?
