“I don’t understand how you can drink that stuff,” Touya’s lips turned down in disgust at the overly sugary drink in his boyfriend's hands. Keigo was half ignoring him as he happily drank the medium frozen caramel triple shot espresso latte with extra caramel drizzle inside his cup and on top of his whipcream. Touya on the other hand was drinking something much simpler and far less diabetic in most people’s opinion. He’d just grabbed his order from the barista, a cinnamon spice tea with honey, ginger and nutmeg with no sugar added. He needed this to help his frazzled nerves as it was eight in the morning and he already disliked the amount of people he had to talk to.

His boyfriend was now a friendly social creature since Touya bought their daily dose of morning addiction. Keigo could be a real grouch when he wakes up at any hour of the day truthfully, while Touya was fine when he woke up. He guesses it’s from being used to his siblings waking him with their cries as newborns and helping his mother take care of them whereas Keigo has no younger siblings. His adopted big sister Kaina took care of Keigo and she preferred peace and quiet along with waking at later hours just like Keigo.

“Come on Kei or we’ll be late,” Touya looped a hand around his boyfriends forearm, just above it a spike bracelet was resting snug with his watch in the center of said spikes. Keigo wore dark blue jeans with a chain attached on his belt loop while in a loose black t-shirt. Thankfully he started letting Touya dress him a few months after dating because the night Keigo showed up wearing a horrendous yellow and brown leather jacket with matching pants Touya laid a ground rule of Keigo never being allowed to dress himself ever again.

Thankfully that was their first year of highschool, now in their second year of college, things were much better fashion wise and his eyes were never assaulted by Keigo’s terrible fashion sense. Well, at least not on Keigo anyway, his partner still showed him outfits he thought were attractive that genuinely should not exist in Touya’s opinion. But that was his Keigo, the man so laid back he just laughs and teases Touya as he tries to tug Keigo to their next class. It’s not that Keigo didn’t care either, he just knew that he could carry Touya and run them there in the nick of time.

“Relax star, the professor emailed last night that she would be late to class since her babysitter canceled. She’s bringing little Sakura to class so you know what that means,” Keigo smirked with his naturally mischievous amber eyes. He watched happily as Touya tapped his foot in excitement, a childhood habit Touya never broke free of. Keigo didn’t have a joyous childhood habit but he did develop tilting his head to the side and grinning widely after he got with Touya. He couldn’t be happier to watch as his mate bounced in place as Keigo swiftly stole his favorite tea so it wouldn’t spill as he followed beside Touya while sipping his coffee.

He made sure to slip Touya’s tea to his lips as they left the coffee shop at a much slower pace. Keigo listened as Touya yapped about how cute little Sakura was and how he couldn’t wait to get a whiff of that new baby smell he was always crazy about. Something his boyfriend missed in his younger siblings aside from Fuyumi who was more like a twin to Touya than anything. Keigo found it adorable how Touya’s eyes lit up when it came to kids whereas he cringed and hid behind Touya since kids made him uncomfortable. The only kids he’s ever been okay around was his adopted cousin Fumikage and the youngest Todoroki, Shouto. Sakura was not a quiet and easy child like those two were so he just simply waved at her and made a few funny faces while Touya held and took care of her so their professor could teach and have a break.

“Kei, are you seeing this? Look in the window! They have a new set of stiletto nails and they’re black!”

With an easygoing small smile, Keigo let Touya lead them to the nail shop where his boyfriend checked out the long set of nails that were in a shade of black Touya would swear was different from his last. His boyfriend loved stuff like this. Feminine gothic fashion like stiletto or coffin nails and fishnet stockings along with heels and combat boots. Keigo knew his tastes were on the eccentric side but he liked eccentric male attire for himself. Though he has grown to love and appreciate the dramatic flare here and there that all his outfits now hold and Touya letting him wear one his “atrocious” shirts or hoodies with simple jeans.

He was far too excited to continue his thoughts when he saw Touya head straight for the piercing section to see a new gold chain that hooked onto a nose and ear piercing. The sight made his heart beating just a tad faster and Keigo wished his hands were free so he could take a picture of the sight.

He wasn’t a big fan of piercings, truth be told, he only had his ears pierced and he never strayed from wearing red feather earrings or red dotted earrings. His heart was stolen by tattoos and he got lucky when his favorite red winged back tattoo captured Touya’s interest. His blue eyed babe wasn’t against tattoos but they were always second to piercings for him. Touya loved piercings so much he was going to school to get certified while Keigo decided to get his certification for emergency relief. He wanted to help people in situations of high stress be it a collapsed building, helping the fire teams with victims needing oxygen or people having medical emergencies. His degree would take longer of course since he needed to be thoroughly trained but thankfully he was soaring through his classes and training and he was even good at the medical training his degree required. It was also because of the early start medical training program he joined with Natsuo’s recommendation. Touya’s little brother Natsuo wanted to be a doctor and enrolled in the program first during middle school where he later recommended Keigo to his teacher helping the dirty blonde man get his start.

Keigo was beyond appreciative and he was beyond ecstatic when Touya finally accepted the dangerous job he wanted to pursue. Keigo was a bit of a hypocrite in this regard because he knew his job was dangerous and frankly life threatening. It was also something he didn’t want Touya to ever partake in or be exposed to. He was happy when Touya chose a safe job like piercing people and considering being a tattoo artist for more clientele and revenue. Touya of course called him out immediately on his bullshit and his lack of considering how Touya would feel knowing everyday could be his last, seeing Keigo alive or in one piece. The man could do nothing to dispute what his partner said and he spent many days and nights apologizing and consoling Touya. Feeling guilty for  making him cry and causing Touya to take his mood stabilizers more often since Keigo’s career reveal.

It was only after witnessing Keigo in action did Touya feel a bit better about his career choice. He was still genuinely upset that Keigo was willing to risk his life everyday for total strangers he didn’t know when Touya himself could only ever see himself doing this for his loved ones but that’s another thing that made them different for each other. Touya was a bleeding heart for his family and friends and his boyfriend while Keigo couldn’t stand to see anyone hurt.

A trait Touya both admires and dislikes about his Keigo.

“Here star, drink your tea before it gets cold. It’s still warm so take your meds now before we leave,” Keigo states as he ushers Touya to the side with a hand on his lower back after giving him his tea. He finished his favorite latte during his musings as he watched Touya flutter around before getting the nails that caught his attention. Keigo was holding the small bag with Touya’s satchel as Touya took his mood stabilizers, heart medicine and asthma pump.

He kept his eyes on every movement his boyfriend made to see if he was hiding any pain or strain and when he determined there was none, he gave Touya his new nails and put a hand on his lower back to move him along. Touya’s protests were met with an easygoing smile as Keigo listened to Touya complain about Keigo being too protective of him and that he could at least carry Keigo’s bag to make it fair. The amber eyed man just smirked and kept them going forward as he enjoyed feeling Touya’s body heat and watching his expressions change as he talked about Fuyumi’s new classroom as a teacher in training and Natsuo meeting a nurse in his classes that he calls a, “cute button mouse.”

In return Keigo tells Touya that Kaina was enjoying her backpacking trip in the Tropics with her “friend” Chisaki. The man was so awkward to Keigo and Touya who sit with them for dinners or movie nights. Touya once snickered and told Keigo that his sister was Chisaki’s dom and ran that man like a dog much to Keigo’s disgust. He ignored Touya the rest of the walk back because he knew Touya was right. They both saw the collar poking out from Chisaki’s shirt and the hickies on his neck. Keigo did not need to know his sister's sex life and promptly reframed from looking her in the eyes for weeks after that. Unlike Touya and Fuyumi, he did not share those details. Natsuo still blushed like a kid when the two would gossip but he stayed and listened. The only one who didn’t was Shouto and that was because he was too young for such things.

Keigo always gives Touya a look when he says that but Touya glares and says his “baby brother is too innocent for that,” and while Shouto is young he wasn’t exactly ignorant to romantic feelings. The youngest Todoroki would text Keigo quite a bit and ask him for help in relationship matters since his siblings would be of no use. Touya would probably hug Shouto with Fuyumi and pout over his baby brother growing up while Fuyumi would gush and embarrass him. It’s Natsuo that would be a brat and playfully tease Shouto and poke fun at him with childish songs and kissy faces. Shouto couldn’t stand being the baby at times but thankfully Keigo eased his pain by being a great brother-in-law and giving him honest and age appropriate advice. Keigo was cool about it, sure but he would never encourage a minor to do anything beyond a first kiss and even then he was careful.

“And when we get to class please don’t tease Jin about his morning mask,” Touya sighed as they reached their first hour building.

“No way! It’s one of my morning highlights,” Keigo feigned exasperation as he held the door open for Touya and walked inside after him, “He purposely puts on the burned Armin mask to make me laugh! I know he does,” Keigo laughed as they got closer to their class.

Touya rolled his eyes but Keigo knew Touya was happy about it. He was more excited at Keigo connecting to someone other than their families and making his first friend more than Keigo himself. Touya liked Jin of course but Jin and Keigo were best friends in the way Touya and Tenko were best friends. Jin was the more emotional and expressive one between the two like Touya was the emotional and expressive one between him and Tenko.

When they entered class, Keigo made sure Touya didn’t forget to hydrate and pull his mini fan out to keep from overheating. He received a hand flap and his boyfriend saying he was overprotective again but he did get a kiss and Touya rubbing at his jaw and patting his temple so he would relax.

That made Keigo smile before kissing Touya’s forehead and walking to the next row of seats in front of Touya where he greeted Jin who was wearing the Armin mask that made them both laugh while Tenko grunted Touya a greeting as he helped his boyfriend Shuichi finish a hard level.

Touya was about to tease Tenko but he ended up gasping and jumping up from his chair to wash his hands at the sink in the corner before carefully taking little Sakura from their professor who giggled and gave Touya the baby bag and let Touya fuss over her daughter who giggled excitedly at seeing one of her favorite people. Keigo watched as Touya lightly bounced little Sakura and took her back to his seat where he got them both comfortable before smelling that “irresistible baby smell,” his Touya just couldn’t get enough of while Keigo just felt himself internally cringe at the thought of holding a squirming baby that tried to grab at Touya’s piercings. He couldn’t handle kids much aside from making sure they were fed and didn’t get hurt. But Touya could. His boyfriend was so much better at this than him.

In fact, Touya was better at handling the things Keigo could not and that made him pause.

Now that Keigo thinks about it again, he and Touya were pretty different from each other going by their upbringings to their personalities, tastes in food, music, hobbies, health and even careers. But it was something neither took as a negative. If anything, they were used to it and saw it as something simply a part of their everyday life and each other. They liked each other's differences and it felt normal to them, right even.

So it didn’t matter if they were complete opposites.

They were perfectly happy and content to be with each other and only each other.
