Work Text:
Rebirth
I’ll take a deep breath as if it’s my last
And hope I go out in a glorious laugh
As the roots tug at my shoes
And the floor starts to sway
My knees bend and crack
There’s a crash and a thunderous laugh
Rain coats my body
Gentle droplets decay
My fingers brush nettles
But the pain never stays
Bones sink into the mud
The earth beckons me to stay
My lungs fill with weeds
My skin feels the breeze
May my body become a home
For little creatures to stay
To see kindness in man’s greatest gift
To leave the world just as it is
