Work Text:

Tony and Peter were working in the lab. It was Friday night and it was getting late. Tony glanced at his watch and saw that it was almost one in the morning.

“Hey, Pete, how about you go on and get to bed? It’s getting late,” Tony said as he set down his screwdriver.

“Pete?” Tony asked again when he got no answer from the boy.

Tony turned to look at the kid’s desk and smiled to himself at what he saw.

Peter’s head was resting on one of his arms while the other hung off the side of the desk, still loosely holding the web shooter he’d been working on. Tony stood from his stool, stretching as he made his way over to him.

Tony carefully took the web shooter from Peter’s hand and placed it on the table. He gently lifted the boy up, settling Peter’s head against his shoulder. Then he shifted him onto his hip as if he were a little kid. It was easy to carry him, ever since the spider bite, Peter weighed close to nothing. Tony bounced him slightly and brushed the curls back from his face.

Peter curled a fist into Tony’s shirt in his sleep and let out a sleepy sigh.

Tony made his way through the lab doors and into the elevator so he could head up to the penthouse and take Peter to his room. While they were in the elevator, Peter let out a soft little whine. Tony bounced him gently again and rested a hand on the back of his head as if he were a newborn. He pressed a kiss to the top of the teen’s head, which seemed to settle him.

Tony stepped out of the elevator and walked down the hall to Peter’s room. He pushed the door open and walked over to the bed. Leaning down carefully, he tried to place Peter onto the mattress, but when he straightened back up, Peter was still clinging to him.

“Pete, buddy, can you let go of me, please?” he asked softly.

In response, he got a quiet snore from the kid.

Tony smiled to himself, accepting that Peter clearly wasn’t going to let him go anytime soon. So, instead of fighting it, he walked back out of Peter’s room and headed to his own.

Luckily, Pepper was away on a business trip at the moment, so there was plenty of room in the bed.

Tony toed off his shoes and climbed into bed, Peter immediately curling into his side. The teen rested his head on Tony’s chest and wrapped his arms around him, and Tony returned the gesture without hesitation.

“Friday, dim the lights,” Tony said quietly.

The lights darkened around the room as Tony pulled the blankets up over both of them. He ran his fingers through Peter’s curls and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead.

“G’night, Dad,” Peter mumbled sleepily.

Tony’s expression softened instantly.

“Night, kiddo.”
