Work Text:
It’s annoying.
It always was.
Every weekend, Wemmbu would spend atleast two-and-a-half hours of his precious life trying to get his roommate FlameFrags, back to their dorm. At this point, he should try giving up on even having plans on Saturday and Sunday, he’d just dissapoint Egg and the others when he has to cancel their activities with him because he has to pick Flame up from his stupid parties.
Sometimes he wonders, why does he even bother to show up and drag him out of the party when he’s sober as hell? Wemmbu never had a clear answer for that, and for sure he knows to himself deep down he isn’t a good person. He had already figured that out when he was in elementary, and that made him feel like the only conscious person in the school.
After everything, he definitely won’t have a change of heart anytime soon, and he’s really glad about that one honestly. Not for any good reason though. And that’s when Flame comes to the equation. At this point, he can’t care less for him. The only reason he cares is because he’ll get blamed for not caring for him. That isn’t his problem though, why is he apart of his problems??
Being responsible for someone else is annoying like hell.
Thoughts flooded his mind, he didn’t like it a single bit. A loud ringing sound came from his phone, if this is Flame again he swears he’s about to jump off a building without hesitating like what he almost did in middle school- oh. It’s Flame’s brother, ManePear. Eh, that’s fine atleast it isn’t Flame again honestly.

It was around 3 AM. His sleep schedule is pretty much ruined because of this dumbass athlete that won’t stop drinking alcohol. There’s no actually point in fixing it so he’ll just be like this until he graduates college, what an unfortunate realisation that would definitely get him late to his lectures.
A loud sigh came from him, as he left his bedroom door with jingling keys in his palm.
Can he plan dying intentionally now please? No? Oh. Okay.
The cool breeze of the night hit his skin, as it was very windy today. Just how he liked it. Not alot of cars were in sight because of the party, that was probably the only good thing in whatever was happening. Atleast there was a good thing apart of the equation, good enough.
Keys jingled as he stepped out of the university to the parking lot, as his silent movements swiftly moved to his car. If he was being honest, he wouldn’t really need to drive a car to somewhere pretty close to school, but his avatar ass body would definitely not be able to carry someone who’s built like a fridge. Someone like Flame.
The car made a loud sound as the engine turned on, and he started moving. He passed diml street lights and large signs that could be barely read in the dark. Wemmbu drove from street to street, as no cars or anything was in sight. Sure, call him childish but this is pure nightmare fuel.
The farther he was from school, the darker the streets became. Less and less street lights appeared and no one can be seen. It’s like everybody disappeared for some weird reason or something.
Everything seemed the same. The only thing that wasn’t the same were the different houses on the block. Until he saw a house with bright colorful lights, loud music he assumed was the party Flame joined. Oh my god this fucking athlete is geniune hell to deal with.
This wouldn’t have been a problem, the only problem was that he despised parties with all his might. The thought of strangers you don’t know just asking to fuck with you or getting sober there wasn’t something Wemmbu Crucible would like.
A good student like him wouldn’t want to break their reputation, and going to parties was just something he wasn’t into. After all, he’s purely an introvert. He thought to himself. Once this is done, he’ll zoom out of this party and go back to sleep.
The door creaked as he opened it, revealing tons of people, a disco ball near the ceiling, and loud music that filled the room alongside the mixed talking. He observed the space for a moment, until he found Flame near the kitchen table drinking, or is he asleep?? Or both??? He had no geniune idea.
Small groans came from Flame, as Wemmbu dragged him out the front door and got was somehow able to get him inside the car. Ask him, how did he do it? He absolute had no idea. He’s been avoiding food again, so him carrying this weight feels like a cartoon thing.
If he hears one more thing from that idiot, he won’t hesitate to drop him out of the car and make him walk the distance. It’s short anyway.
While he was driving, he started to relax slightly. Thoughts flooded his mind, the type he didn’t like. He’s tired, too tired to even try to even have resistance over getting reminded over those thoughts. He can never rest properly, he has too much to study. The course he picked is known for the overwhelming amount of things to study and do to pass. So he can’t really be surprised.
Deep down, he knows he isn’t a good student, even if he tries to be one. He isn’t the ideal person you’d think. He isn’t kind, for sure, he isn’t smart, even if he is called, and he surely is a failure. Maybe he is overreacting, like he always is but comparing to his other friends, he’s just so- something he can’t even describe.
He’s missing so many things he could’ve done if he didn’t pick up Flame, he’s already have so many things piled up ontop of him. Work. Work. Work. Work. Study. Study. Study. Study. Keeping up with his studies is just so overwhelming now.
Suddenly, salty tears threatened to flow. He never was emotional. Why is he crying? Maybe this is the effect of being so emotionally constipated anytime. It’s coming back to him like a boomerang (I’MMA COME BACK LIKE A BOOMERANG🗣️🗣️🗣️❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥✌️✌️)
For a while, he started to trace the path he used when he left the school to pick him up. Atleast Flame didn’t resist this time. He parked the car in the parking lot and opened the backseat door revealing a sober Flame looking at him.
“Get up. I have things to do besides babying you.” Wemmbu hissed, a visible amount of bitterness came from his voice. He usually isn’t like this.
“Bro..” Flame spoke, clearly drunk.
Flame followed Wemmbu to their shared dorm, as Wemmbu closed the door. Flame almost pounced on the couch, immediately facing a pillow, knocked out.
Wemmbu sat on the floor, with dried tears on his face with his usual well kept purple hair dishelved, and much more dry than usual. He hasn’t had the time to keep it well preserved for a while, because of much more important things to do.
His body was curled up into a ball, breath unsteady as salty tears blurred his vision. He had already cried in the car, why does he have to do this right now? He didn’t have an actual answer for that.
Everything just came crashing down at once. His face faced his knees as he tried to muffle his crying the hardest, but failing miserably. He hasn’t cried this loud in years, even if it isn’t really considered loud for others.
Ask him, why was he crying? No answer. Just everything. He has to balance his studies and work at the same time handling an idiot, he even has to balance his physical health with his badminton and volleyball practice, even his social life. But never actually enough time for himself.
To be honest, he’ll be completely real. He’s never had anytime for himself at all. Especially his mental health. That probably does something to a person, but that’s okay. (He hopes).
Someone behind him started to groan and make annoying sounds again, interrupting his mental breakdown yet again. Wemmbu faced the man behind him with a confused and annoyed expression, dried tears in his face, as his eyes were still glassy.
The sounds stopped, as Wemmbu continued to cry endlessly without any stop. Until, Flame had suddenly nuzzled against his neck. Wait- wha- his eyes widened at the sudden sensation of someones face in his neck, as he shivered from the gesture.
“Why are you cryi..ing sweetie?” Flame spoke, voice low and gentle.
Wemmbu didn’t answer, as he was suddenly lifted from the ground and scooped to sit on the couch with Flame. He wouldn’t dare to look at Flame. His face started to redden out of embarrassment, purely confused on what was happening.
“Answer me….!!” Flame said, stubborn to know what was his malew- I mean, ‘roommate’ doing.
“Shut the fuck up.” Wemmbu hissed, not with any bite, but with a teasing hint to it.
“You’re mean..” Flame complained, a small frown coming from him as he continued to cuddle Wemmbu in his embrace.
Flame kept nuzzling himself onto Wemmbu’s neck, clearly drunk over the amount of alcohol he had drank earlier at the party before Wemmbu picked him up. A soft teasing smile came from Flame, as Wemmbu’s expression seemed to soften and calm.
The motion was sort of embarrassing for Wemmbu, but he knows he’d just get cuddled even more by Flame. He had already been caged into this uncomfortable position, he didn’t want to make it any worse than it already is.
Why does it feel so right to be in the arms of someone you don’t consider as anything that has worth in your life? That was something even Wemmbu couldn’t figure out, even if he tried so hard and so long. He’s just dreaming again, isn’t he?
“I like you so muuchhhh……” Flame cooed, visibly satisified on what he has done.
“I wnat youuedj….”
“Wemmy…speak to me..!!”
“You’re just drunk again. Aren’t you?”
“Im noot..i’m just pretending to be drunk so you’ll brush this off as my antics again..!”
“What.”
Nevermind, he’ll just ignore that if he can. Can they just brush this off again? Please? He wished, but at the same time and moment, he didn’t want to brush it off.
As much as he wanted to cry in somebody’s arms (specifically Flame’s), this might just be those random stupid stuff Flame says when he’s being sober again. But something in him tells him it’s not, probably. This is just so weird.
For a second, time feels like it had stopped. After a while, Flame’s stubbornness took over and finally made Wemmbu face him. He had noticed the small but pretty features Wemmbu’s faced had, how it couldn’t be able to be seen from afar. Long lashes, long eyebags, and beautiful eyes that stared into his eyes.
Flame’s heart fluttered at the sight of Wemmbu liked this. Dried tears and pink lips that made him think what would they taste like. They stayed there for a moment, until the world truly stopped for a long, long moment.
Was he gonna give in? Probably. But it’s fine, this isn’t really his drunk shenanigans again, this was truly real. He wants to have that soft face and curved body all for himself, all for him to have. No one else to bother him.
“I’am about to do something so stupid right now.”
“Do it.”
Suddenly-
Flame’s mouth crashed into Wemmbu’s. Wemmbu’s eyes suddenly widened at the kiss, but immediately gave in. It wasn’t soft, or gentle. It was a fight of desperation and unspoken romantic undertones from an emotionally constipated idiot and an athlete. Can this be a regular thing please?
Wemmbu’s lips were just as delicious as he imagined, it felt like he had won the lottery and ascended into heaven itself. He would absolutely beg for this to never ever end and they could stay like this forever. Eventually, all good things would have to come an end, even ones that feel like an eternity.
Both of them stopped. Not because it was intentional, but both of them needed air besides eachother’s breath. Heavy pants came from both of them, until their breath stabilised. They looked at eachother, currently processing what they have done. Was this even the right thing to do in the first place? No. It never was. But why did it feel so right at the same time, though? No one knew.
Silence filled the room for a moment, no one dared to speak. Wemmbu looked at the clock besides the couch for a moment, it moved a millimetre. Then looked back to Flame: still questioning his life choices. He looked like he was in heaven, somehow.
“Just a question, but would you date me if you could?” Wemmbu said. It felt stupid and awkward to say that to someone, but it couldn’t be undone.
Wemmbu waited for an answer patiently. He didn’t want to rush into the relationship, but something inside him wishes Flame would respond faster. Waiting for him to respond feels like an entire year, even if it was only a few minutes.
The hope inside him started to break, but he didn’t choose to say anything about it. Because he can’t guarantee what would he say. It might be completely different to what he would expect.
“I wish you were a girl, Wemmy.” Flame spoke, with a hint of sadness in his voice, he didn’t like the truth too. Ow. That hurt way more than it should have in the first place.
A wave of disappointment hit Wemmbu, but he couldn’t force something into someone if they don’t want it to be in the first place. His face saddened slightly but remained mostly just the same.
“That didn’t answer my question.” Wemmbu snuggled closer and hid his face in Flame’s chest. He didn’t want to hear anything else from anyone. He just wanted to rest at this point, nothing can make him move to a different position or anywhere else if he’s already in somewhere he wants to be at.
Flame stayed silent throughout the whole thing, as he let tiredness consume him. But they would definitely have to move soon, the couch is a bad place to sleep in. Wemmbu would definitely fall in the morning.
What if he comes by weeping at his chest again? That’s fine, as long as it’s him everything is fine, for now. Also, he hasn’t slept in atleast an entire day so he wont really bother budging right now, just let him have his precious beauty sleep.
