This is a compilation of stories from our ongoing 5e homebrew campaign! They will not be posted in chronological order, but will be ordered chronologically after each update. I'm hoping to be able to get the rest of my players to contribute their own stories, as I can never put as much love for their characters into words as they can ^-^
Characters in order of appearance:
The Main Party (Lower-Level Characters)
*Leo Thompson - Human Artificer/Fighter
Born to a Templar-curated cult of Juno in 1992, Leanne Thompson ran away from home at the age of 16, bouncing from state to state evading capture, working odd-jobs and learning the trades. She eventually settled in Southern California, where she was taken in by the De La Rosa family, whose daughter Maria and younger sibling Ezra took a shining to her. Maria and Leo were incredibly close when they had a stupidly intense falling out in 2019, wherein Leo drove away drunk and wound up back on the east coast. Only a few months had passed when the Templar kidnapped her, Maria, and Ezra and ordered them to retrieve a vague object of power at the threat of losing not only the rest of the De La Rosa family- but the twin sisters and parents Leo left behind in Texas.
Magpie - Aarakocra Rogue
Separated from her mother at a young age, Magpie was taken in by the kenku, and retired brotherhood assassin, Silver. As she becomes increasingly closer to her coming of age, Magpie itches to learn more about the world and spread her naive wings. This has led her to taking up the old mantle of her foster father and learning the ways of the Assassins from family friend Achilles Davenport, despite Silver's vehement disagreement. She aspires to be kind to others and be good in all she does.
Espera - Lepidoptera Cleric (HB)
Cursed with the knowledge of being the last of her kind and no other memories, all a functioning alcoholic and amnesiac Espera has ever known is the kindness of her goddess Leira, who was recently ripped away from her due to an unknown cause. Having been bestowed with the remainder of her power upon her death, Espera wanders the world as a newborn goddess and struggles to discover the meaning of godhood on her own. She is quickly coming to realize that her fellow goddesses may be less trustworthy than she initially thought.
The Side-Questers (Higher-Level Characters)
Vlatka Victorovna Volkov- Vampire Barbarian (HB)
A beloved returning character from a previous campaign (in hiatus), Vlatka is an undead lab baby and Russian immigrant with a mysterious backstory. Her brother Sergei married Nyx much to her dismay, though her attachment to her newly-born nephew Jasper has settled things for the moment. She has been tasked with returning Scarlet to her grandmother at all costs and cannot be returned home to her husband and children until the job is done.
*Arida Fritjofdottir - Half-Elf Valkyrie (HB)
Granddaughter of Elvish egotists and daughter of a lab baby, Arida struggled her whole life to be treated as an equal on Asgard, only finding a kindred spirit in a young Loki. Her Allsight made her both a target and an object to be feared, placing her under the supervision of Odin's council and Heimdall's guidance, the latter whom she succeeded after his death in 2018. Arida remained in New Asgard until a variant of her Loki reappeared, leaving traces of himself behind. She eventually left (with Thor's blessing) to find the variant, feeling obligated to stop whatever he'd schemed next. Or at least, that's what she tells everyone else. She's been chasing after her old flame for over 100 years and is starting to ask herself why.
Ace & Spade - Tabaxi Rogues
A mysterious duo thieving under the cover of night and illusions. Their brethren have been dishonored and they are hoping to right the wrongs of the past.
Major Original NPCs
Silver: An old kenku, retired assassin of the brotherhood, and friend to Achilles Davenport, he now spends his days outside of the colonies living a simple life and raising a young (but growing) Magpie.
Scarlet: Granddaughter of the goddess Nyx, she escaped through time and space to avoid confronting her destiny- to become the goddess of the dawn. It doesn't sound like much, but to Scarlet, it means a life of worship and (potentially) human sacrifices. She fears the responsibility and power being a goddess entails and is determined to stay away from it as long as she can. Though, unbeknownst to her, her presence spells extinction for the rest of the world.
Nyx: Goddess of the night, mother and grandmother to many. She currently lives with her husband Sergei and infant son Jasper inside a realm of her own creation, but houses her sister-in-law Vlatka and her family from time to time. She is known to travel across many planes of existence (and is also a returning figure from previous campaigns).
Morgana: Manifestation of The Morrigan, she currently resides on the coasts of Ireland. The location of her other forms are unknown. For reasons unknown, she aims to keep Scarlet in this other world. It is unknown if she knows about the calamity to come. She is currently allied with Loki for reasons unknown.
This campaign is ongoing. Character summaries and backstories will change as more is revealed about each individual. Character images to follow eventually!
