Chapter Text
Fred is laying on his bed, scarving his nose checking for a hard piece of snot that had been bothering him for a while. He was bored, practically dying of boredom.
Well, not quite, but it was true: he was genuinely bored and didn't know what to do. Freddy had gone out with his bandmates somewhere he hadn't invited him; not that he wanted to go, especially knowing those two would be there, flirting shamelessly and in a cheesy way. Both of them had matching bunny keychains and dumb shirts, one cyan and the other purple.
Yuck! It couldn't have been worse. He'd been through it once, he wasn't going to do it again, especially considering he'd had to beg Freddy to let him tag along. Never again.
He wiped the dried mucus away with a napkin he found under his pillow, an old one, and thought about texting Owynn; maybe he didn't have anything to do either and was bored.
Yeah, he had to text Owynn; he couldn't stand the silence any longer.
He sat up, grabbed his phone from the nightstand, and turned it on. He checked the notifications and deleted all the ones that didn't seem interesting. Then he opened Messenger and texted Owynn.
Ay, Owynn? r u there?
–5:26 pm
Hey.
Yeah, what's up?
–5:27 pm
I’m bored, can I come over?
–5:27 pm
What about your brother?
Didn’t he go out with his friends?
Don’t tell me he didn’t invite you.
That’s pretty. . . Pathetic, not gonna lie.
–5:27 pm
R u laughing at me on my face
Sock head.
–5:27 pm
Lmao, yeah.
(Fred reacted with ‘🙄’)
Yeah, you can come over.
–5:28 pm
Ok jackass, be there at 5:40.
–5:28 pm
Okay, I’ll be at the door.
Waiting for you.
–5:28 pm
Owynn put down his phone, stared at the ceiling, and shifted in bed. He definitely wasn't going downstairs to wait for Fred; he'd tell Mike to open the door. He was far too comfortable in his bed to get up.
He sat up and rested his back against the headboard, he should probably detangle his hair a little, look more presentable.
although. . . It was Fred, he’d seen him in worse shape than just tangled hair and dark bags. So he didn’t bother himself too much with it and went right back to laying down.
He stared at the chiffonier where he kept his secret stash of snacks and soda, surely it’ll be enough for the two of them, right? Even if not, they could always go downstairs and get more.
He dissociated, staring at a point on the wall, until he heard the doorbell and sat up on his bed cross-legged —“Fred’s here.” — He muttered to no one in particular, then he put on his glasses.
Fred stood outside, checking his phone once to text Owynn that he was here, the door opened and Owynn’s brother—Mike, glared at him with piercing blue eyes, he was tall, definitely taller than Fred, with jet black hair and a menacing presence.
—“Why are you here?” – Michael looked at him up and down, his gaze made Fred feel small and judged.
—“Uh, I came to see Owynn, is he home?
Is he home. Was he stupid? He knew Owynn was home, he'd just asked him to come over
Michael stopped, leaning against the doorframe, crossed his arms, and continued staring at Fred like he was an idiot. Then he called out for Owynn.
—"Owynn! Your boyfriend's here!" – Fred freezed as Mike turned and disappeared inside the house, without even bothering to tell him to come in. Fred went in anyway; he already had Owynn's permission to enter.
Okay, that was kind of embarrassing. Was he trying to be annoying? Or did he just want to embarrass Owynn? Maybe both.
He probably thought that because he always came over.
Owynn probably hadn't even heard him, he barely heard Fred talking to him in class when he sat next to him.
He put a hand over his burning cheek, he hoped Owynn hadn't heard that, or it'd be awkward. Really awkward. He'll pretend Mike didn't say that for his own sake.
He closed the door behind himself, kicked off his shoes—because he's polite.—, and left them by the door before going inside. He glanced around for a moment before hurrying up the stairs.
He looked at the photographs hanging on the wall, all from years past to the present. Each one showed five people: Owynn's father, William; Michael, the oldest of the four; Owynn, the middle oldest; Evan, the middle youngest; and Elizabeth, the youngest of them all.
In some of them, Owynn had brownish black hair, mostly the old ones. But he still looked as cute as ever. Maybe even cuter. Still with his little freckles and mismatched eyes.
In some of the older ones, he didn't appear; only William's other three children did. It made him remember Owynn told him he lived with his mom back then when they were really small and young. So William and Eleanor probably divorced or something, maybe she died.
He kept walking through the hall, approaching Owynn's door every step.
He reached the bedroom door and knocked on it. —“Owynn. . . Dude, can I come in?”
He waited for a moment before he heard a confirmation from the other side, then he let himself in. —“Sup.”
The purple haired one was laying on bed, legs propped up and one thrown over the other, he looked relaxed, almost as if he had just woken up. His hair was all tangled and messy, it had no sense of direction right now like it usually did.
—“Aye. What happened? Don't have any other friends to go bother?” – He snorted, shifting to his side to look at Fred.
—“Maybe I wanted to come bother you. Thought of that?”
They looked at each other, both smiling dumbfounded before Fred walked over and slumped over him like a cat.
—“Hey! You're heavy, get off!!” – Owynn punched his shoulder, then tried to push him off, but it was at best half-hearted, so Fred didn't bother moving.
He hummed in mock-thought, —“Nah.”
—“You’re so incredibly annoying.”
—“You love it.”
—“Tsk. Shut it jerk.”
They spent a few hours munching on snacks, playing videogames and talking about everything and nothing at the same time. Hours passed by, dinner came. . . And went, it was just Mike, Fred and him on the table.
Mike said he had no clue where the others were and munched on his food like a moody teen, Fred didn't know—obviously— and he himself also hadn't an idea where they were.
Owynn put a sleeping bag on the floor, but Fred had preferred to invade his bed like the menace he was; it couldn't be more obvious he was Freddy's brother.
—“Hey! What are you doing?! Go to your sleeping bag, you worm.”
He screamed in a whisper when he felt Fred slide beside him, blood rushing to his cheeks, and for once he was grateful that the lights were off and they could barely see anything.
—“Move over! The floor is uncomfortable, and your bed isn't. Besides, this place is almost as big as all of Russia. What do you need all this space for?”
—“Ugh.” –Owynn groaned, he was so exasperating. But he couldn't say no to him. It was cold either way. —“Fine, you can stay. But you're sleeping on that side. And don't even think about sleeping with me.”
—“Yas sir.”
Owynn rolled his eyes, playfully pushed Fred, then rolled over to the other side of the bed, laid his head on the pillow, and kicked the other boy under the covers. He took off his glasses and left them on the bedside table, then snuggled under the duvet.
—“Hey. . . Don't kick me.”
—“Shut up and go to sleep.”
The last thing he heard before falling asleep was Fred muttering something awfully close to "Asshole" and moving beside him. Then everything went black and silent.
Yeehaw.
