Yin, Yang, and the love that keeps the balance (also known as a Collection of fluffy Nagihono works)

Summary:

This is a collection of short fluffy stories I'm writing for my friends because I apparently write too much angst. There should be no warnings but I'll include information in the notes anyways just in case.

Please enjoy!

Notes:

This is part of a Guardian Angel AU I'm working on with some friends, but it doesn't require any context to read. It's just the girls being cute and in love.

Chapter 1: Wings and the winds that guide you (home)

Chapter Text

“See, you can see the whole world from up here!” Nagisa said, as she gestured to the city far below them. Honoka felt inclined to agree, though she knew they were looking at different things.

Nagisa truly looked like an angel like this. Her features were on full display for once. The many wings adorning her head were fluffed up in excitement, amplifying the pure look on her face. Her eyes were crinkled in that way that made her heart beat and her mouth was open, showing off her sharp teeth in a blinding smile. She was sitting on the edge of the building with little care for the height they were at, feet swinging in a way reminiscent of days long past for Honoka.

Honoka was dragged out of her thoughts by Nagisa’s voice. “Look!” She said. Honoka wasn’t inclined to looking away from her, but since it was Nagisa asking she supposed she had little choice. Following where her beloved was pointing, she saw two people walking down the street, wearing their school’s uniform. “That’s Keijo and Sakura” Nagisa started, her tone taking on one of someone telling a secret, almost like the teen drama movie she had watched with Nagisa last week (Heathers she thinks it was called. She wasn’t paying much attention to the movie until they killed two people). “Shiho told me that Sakura has a crush on him. Rina and her have been trying to get them to actually do something together for a while! Wait- do you think they finally did something? Are they on a date?!”

“Maybe” Honoka said. She had yet to have conversations with Keijo-kun or Sakura-chan, nor had she any idea that there was something to note there. It would be unbecoming of her to confirm something she had no solid proof of. And yet, Honoka could have hope of something happening nonetheless. “But given the fact that they are walking together, alone after school, it could stand to reason that something has occurred.” She said. After all, spending time alone after school is an indicator of something being between two people. You woudn’t spend time alone with someone otherwise.

She could feel the way Nagisa nodded through the movements of the wings wrapped around her. She didn’t have to be looking at Nagisa to know what she had done. Four solid nods that tapper-off and weaken each time, as she considers exactly what has been presented to her. Honoka doesn’t have to look at Nagisa’s face to see the look of concentration that would tighten the areas around her features. And yet she looks anyways. You’d have to physically move her head to make her stop looking.

Honoka also could guess what is coming next, as Nagisa is always so predictable. In three, two, one…

There it is. That smile. She’s reached a conclusion. Honoka doesn’t have to hear what Nagisa is going to say to know that she thinks Sakura-chan and Keijo-Kun are dating.

“..and like, I know I haven’t really ever talked to Keijo, but like… Sakura’s my friend! You know?” Nagisa said, turning to look towards Honoka. Nagisa expected the girl to nod along, as she usually does. Maybe provide some insight that changes the entirety of Nagisa’s world with a few words. But when she looked over at her, all she saw was the dark of her hair, buried into her shoulder. Paying closer attention now, she could feel little puffs of air against her arm and hear small little snores.

Honoka looked so small like this. Nagisa always thought of her as bigger than the entire world. And smarter too. She always knew what to say, what to do. The way she looked when presenting ideas about something that always went way over Nagisa’s head always made Nagisa feel like she was standing next to someone who could never be beaten. Sure, Nagisa was better at things like lacrosse, but Honoka could beat you on any playing field when it comes to science or speech. Or just on the playing field. Nagisa knows this girl is insanely strong. Honoka once threw her like fifteen feet in the air just because she could (the girl claimed “science” but Nagisa is starting to think Honoka just wanted to throw her).

Wrapping her wings tighter around the girl (they’re quite high up and it’s very windy, Nagisa doesn’t want her to get cold. She’d rather Honoka never have an excuse to move again), she can feel herself curl around the girl. She’s really warm. Nagisa can see how she fell asleep like this, with the sun on them and wind flowing by. It’s quite perfect. Though Nagisa supposes every moment with Honoka is perfect. Something about her just makes life easier, you know? The way she always knows what to say, the way she smiles that little smile that just makes you know its okay, the glimmer she gets in her eyes when talking about the things she loves. The same glimmer she gets in her eyes when talking about her.

Acting purely upon instinct, she leans down and plants a kiss on her head. She lingers there for a bit longer, smiling into Honoka’s hair, not really wanting to move away. There’s something about Honoka that makes her feel. Nagisa has always felt loudly but with Honoka its more… its just more. Its quieter and there and louder and everywhere at once. It’s hard to put into words how Honoka makes her feel. She wishes she could ask Honoka to help her with it, but that’d be kinda embarrassing.

But she’s glad for this feeling. It’s overwhelming and kind of all of the time, but she thinks she’d die without it. It reminds her a lot of her bed. Fluffy and warm and always a place she can return after a long day. She reminds her of warm meals and long conversations filled with love. She reminds her of long hugs and comforting smiles after stressful days. She reminds her of home.

Oh, maybe that’s the word she’s looking for.

Honoka reminds her of home.

Finally moving, Nagisa rests her head on Honoka’s. Perhap’s she’ll join her in her nap. Nagisa can’t imagine doing anything else.
