"Wait, what the fuck."
Nancy whispers to herself, staring at what seems to be a dozen cats on Mike's bedroom carpet.
"Agh! Nance wait, I can explain!"
Mike holds up to hands to block her entry and scoops up one of the cats, who meows indignantly.
"Explain WHAT? Mom is gonna be so mad!"
"But he loves cats!"
"WHO loves cats?!"
"Will!"
Nancy is pulled out of her anger and stares open mouthed at her brother.
"You got...12 cats...without asking mom...just to surprise your friend?!"
"But he's so lonely and sad and I can't watch him cry in corners anymore!"
Nancy's cheeks turn pink, she feels a bit ashamed of her anger, this was all for a poor traumatized kid, a kid mike loves so dearly.
"But you couldn't have asked mom first...?"
"Well...no!"
Nancy sighs and facepalms.
"Michael Millie Wheeler...you're...well, you're something."
Mike scowls at her, cradling two cats the way someone would hold a newborn baby, carefully so it won't break, the opposite of how he hugs Will. Will was strong, he wouldn't break in the way an infant would. Mike always hugged him close and tight, making sure to keep Will in the warmest part of Mike's torso, right above his heart.
The beating of Mike's heart had always kept a calming effect on Will, he could fall asleep to it, and he did a lot of nights. Slept on Mike's chest while Mike stayed up all night rubbing his back and carding fingers through his hair, this was when Will felt the safest and the happiest.
"Mike, normal 'friends' don't spend all their fucking allowance on a dozen cats for their 'friend'! What really are you two up to?!"
Nancy doesn't mean for it to come out that harsh, and doesn't realize it had until she sees mike flinch slightly.
"We're friends! We're friends."
Mike did that embarrassing little thing where he repeated his own words again, he did that a lot, the doctor said it was 'palilalia'.
"I didn't say you were anything more than that! I just asked what you feel for him, dumbass!"
Mike turns red, from the tips of his ears to his stomach, all flushed like a tomato, Nancy almost laughed but couldn't, Mike looked nervous. Exposed.
"Mikey, it's okay if you're more than friends. I won't be mad, yeah? You can love whoever you want to. And you know you can tell me anything, right? I'm your sister."
"Yeah, yeah I know..."
Mike almost cringed at the cheesiness in Nancy's words, but tried as best he could to take it to heart.
"Yeah well, me and Will are just friends. So you don't need to worry about it."
"I'm not worrying, I'm just-"
Many us cut short by the door creaking open, Will stands there, his cheeks a light pink shade and a small smile atop his rosy little lips.
Will doesn't see Nancy out of he corner of his eye, he's too focused on Mike, the little embarrassed tomato, mike is such a cutie.
Will runs forward and wraps his arms around Mike, stuck firmly to his side.
Then he cranes his head up and presses a kiss to Mike's cheek.
"Will, Nancy's right there!"
Mike hisses in Will's ear, but Will just cocks his head, putting a hand to his ear.
"What did ya say?"
Mike whispers it again, but Will doesn't hear, so Will just gives up and kisses Mike on the lips.
Mike pushes Will away at first, then melts completely against Will. They had kisses before, but this was better.
"Y-you have snow in your hair."
Mike hastily tucks his hands back in his jeans pockets, looking anywhere but at his nosy sister.
Will turns his head to stare into Mike's brown eyes, but when he does, something furry (no it's not mike, though mike probably is a furry) brushes his chin.
He looks down to see the two cats cuddled up on Mike's shoulders.
Will gasps, loud.
"EEEEEEE! KITTIES!"
Will squeals, flapping his hands and absolutely beaming, a bright beautiful thing that makes tears spring to Mike's eyes (though Mike wouldn't admit it)
"There are more in my bed, they're asleep though."
Mike says, in that soft tone he reserved for Will and only for Will.
Nancy stands in the doorway, then walks quickly away
"What is up with my life lately...?"
She mutters.
