"Effie," Gee whispered. "C'mon, babygirl, it's time for lunch." Earlier, Gee put Effie down for a nap because of how fussy she was being. Gee couldn't possibly let her girl skip a meal, so she was trying to wake her up.
Effie stretched a bit then let out a whine, curling in on herself while she attempted to fall back asleep.
"No, no, c'mon, hon. After lunch we can play a game baby, okay?"
Effie tossed around for a second then got up, taking Gee's hand while she led her out of the room.
"Mama, I wanna play while we eat."
"Oh, that's alright, baby. Hold on, come sit down."
Gee helped Effie into her chair and went back into the kitchen to get her plate. She had a few berries, some crackers, a sandwich they had made the night before, and a sippy full of juice.
"What do you wanna play, baby?"
"Mama's game, the, um.. Dungeons.."
"Oh - Oh! Okay! Um, hold on, hold on hold on!"
Gee was over the roof, ecstatic, giddy, every other word that described her feelings. Being the nerd she was, she came back with two little notebooks, some dice, and a pencil.
Gee attempted to explain the premise of DND to Effie in a way that in her regressed state she could still understand, while also making her a character. For now, she drew a little bard. If Effie was interested when she was big as well, she'd make her whatever she wanted.
After she made a child friendly campaign for Effie to play along with, Gee taught her how to use the dice.
"Okay, this is a D20, hon. You're gonna roll it to see what you're gonna find."
Effie shook the die around then let it go on the table.
One.
"Is that good, Mama?"
"Oh, um.. do you wanna try again, kiddo?"
By the way Gee spoke, she assumed it wasn't. "Aww.."
Effie shook the die around again.
One.
"Alright, one more time, hon."
After yet another one, Effie was frustrated. She crossed her arms onto the table and buried her head in them with a small thud. She stayed like that for just a second before she felt something wet getting onto her clothes, skin, and even in her hair.
Gee looked up to find that she, in fact, did not close Effie's sippy all the way. It must have tumbled over when she put her head down on the table.
"Mama," she whined, standing up in disgust while her clothes and her everything got all sticky.
"Dang it.. okay, go change out of your clothes and get in the bath, alright baby? I'll be there in a second." Effie left the room and Gee grabbed some paper towels as well as disinfectant. She didn't know if it would help or not, but she just didn't want her table to be sticky.
Once it felt relatively clean, Gee got another pair of comfortable clothes for the other girl and made her way towards the bathroom. She heard the faint sound of the tub running, so she assumed Effie was alright.
When she entered the bathroom she placed the clothes on the sink counter and crouched down near the bath. "You doing okay, Effie?" to which Effie had whined, tugging at her hair.
"Oh - hey, lets not tug, alright? Is there something in it? Mama will check."
Gee gently turned Effie around to look at her hair. On her left side, there was a chunk of hair near her face that had hardened slightly, likely due to the juice.
"This isn't anything we can't fix with a little shampoo and conditioner kiddo, okay? It'll be alright."
Gee washed the strand thoroughly, brushing it in between to try and separate it. Effie whined because of how hard it pulled on her scalp without even meaning to.
"Alright, there we go, precious. Let's get you dried off and into some new clothes, okay?"
Gee drained the bath and helped Effie out, getting her dressed with the clothes she had gotten earlier. Her eyes kept opening and shutting and by the time Gee was finished, she was nearly asleep in her arms.
"You're such a sleepy baby," she giggled. "I think it's time for you to get back in bed."
Once Gee had gotten Effie back to her room, she was already sleeping. Gee gave her a small kiss and put her lunch in the fridge for later.
