Work Text:
It was the weekend, giving Lugia a break from his overwhelming, tiring work. The only ‘unfortunate’ thing about this was that he had to deal with Jirachi twice the amount he would’ve if not for the break. Being himself, obviously the former wish granter would want to go out and do something with Lugia, seeing as the guy was his only means of transportation besides walking. Jirachi would not be able to maintain a vehicle without driving it into a pole, probably. Plus he was just too lazy to do a driver’s test for his license.
Lugia eventually gave in to Jirachi’s rampant requests to go out somewhere, and they decided to go to the mall. The former guardian of the sea knew that it would be him spoiling Jirachi while there rather than mutual spending, but it was fine. It got him out of the house, which was fine. As long as Jirachi wasn’t stinking up the house with his weed.
‘’Are we leaving or not!?’’ Lugia knocked on Jirachi’s door, which was decorated with stickers and other random things. He knew the male had a certain thing for taking such a long time to get ready to go anywhere, which was just one of the things that Jirachi did that irritated Lugia. ‘’Wait, come in.’’ the blondie’s voice had a lilt to it at the end, despite his words being shouted out. ‘’Are you dressed?’’ Lugia huffed, not wanting to get flashed by his housemate. ‘’I’m not naked!’’ Jirachi half-answered the question, which satisfied the other well enough. He twisted the door handle, seeing his ‘friend’ in the same outfit he was in earlier. He sighed to himself at the scene. Nothing had changed since Jirachi was in his room 15 minutes ago.
‘’I was meaning to wear this–ah, band tee and shorts, but I dunno if I look passing…’’ Jirachi sighed, pulling the shirt he mentioned out of the pile of clothes and holding it over his frame.. Lugia blinked for a moment. Sure, he didn’t understand how the guy felt about his gender identity, being a cisgender male and all, but the least he could do was try to understand and support him through it.
‘’You look fine.’’ He spoke finally. ‘’Just fine? Do I look like a girl or not?!’’ He raised his voice slightly, before muttering an apology. When gender was in the question, he was easily irritated. ‘’I’m telling you, you don’t. You look like any other male. You’ll probably look even more masculine in that outfit. Try it on.’’ The black male suggested, voice softening the slightest bit.
‘’Hmph, fine… If you say so..’’ Jirachi paused. ‘’You can stay in here… just don’t stare at me naked!’’ Lugia blushed at the statement his housemate said, but swallowed back his words. ‘’’Kay, then.. Don’t take too long, or I’m leaving without you.’’ He rolled his eyes, turning around to respect Jirachi’s privacy.
‘’Hey! You wouldn’t do that…’’ He countered, taking the shirt he was already wearing off. He struggled due to his binder getting in the way, but he ended up getting his baggy white shirt off, replacing it with a Nirvana shirt. Staring down at his bare thighs for a moment, his nose bridge wrinkled and he frowned. He didn’t want this feminine form, he just wanted to be a boy. The raised scars on his tanned thighs made him want to look away and cover them with shorts shamefully, so promptly he did just that. Grabbing his black jean shorts off of the messy bed, he quickly put them on, legs kicking frantically to pull the denim bottoms up to his hips.
His golden wings slotted through the holes he cut in his shirt for them to fit, fluttering softly. ‘’I’m dressed.’’ He broke the silence in the room, ushering Lugia to turn back around. Jirachi did a twirl, showing off the outfit to the other man. ‘’How do I look?’’ His hands were on his hips in a show-offy manner. ‘’You look good.’’ Lugia nodded.
‘’Should I put on any accessories? Like, a hat or whatever.’’ The blonde asked, hand ruffling through his hair. ‘’It’s just the mall, I don’t know why you’re putting so much thought into it, really. If you want, put a hat on.’’ Lugia’s arms crossed, tail swishing slightly. ‘’You’re literally not helping at all!’’ The boy argued, stomping his foot lightly, akin to an angry bunny.
To that, Lugia just shrugged his shoulders. ‘’You were just lying about me looking masculine, weren’t you..?’’ Jirachi sat down, arms crossed as if to protect himself. He looked away from the other male, eyes on the wall. The white-haired man stared on silently for a moment, hesitating with what he should say in a situation like this. After a moment, he sat down on the bed next to Jirachi.
‘’Jirachi.’’ He spoke in a naturally harsh tone, that being how he was with most people, assertive. ‘’Do you think I’d lie to you?’’ He asked. ‘’Let’s just go…’’ The blonde brushed off his issues, laughing nervously. ‘’Just tell me why you think you’re a girl. You want to be a male, you look like one, sound like one, so you are one.’’ Lugia, despite his self-proclaimed annoyance with Jirachi, would defend him no matter what, even from himself. ‘’But I don’t feel like one, y’know…?’’
He looked down at his feminine frame. ‘’Like, even fitting in with others is harder ‘cause of this. It’s hard enough with people not believing I’m not my actual self, just because I lost my wishing powers because of STUPID Mew.’’ He paused, gripping his shorts with irritation at his own mention of the guy who took his powers away, banishing him from the afterlife.
‘’And because I look like a girl. That’s all I am, just some girl who thinks she’s a guy!’’ His leg bounced as he spoke, and Lugia could tell his feelings were getting to him quickly. He wanted to let Jirachi vent, and knew to not say anything. ‘’I’ll always be some loser in other people’s eyes, so why even try to present a certain way? Why bother to do any of that. It’s pointless in the end.’’
‘’If it’s something that makes you happy and feel better about yourself, it isn’t pointless. Even if other people think you’re a ‘loser’, why should that affect you? It doesn’t matter what they think.’’ His voice had a roughness around the edges, and Jirachi struggled to maintain eye contact due to his nature. ‘’I’ve always seen you as a male, you know. You never had to convince me to believe it.’’ Lugia’s voice softened negligibly, which still came as a surprise. ‘’I.. I’m glad you think so, Lugia.’’ For once, Jirachi had no clue what to say. Usually, he had some sort of come-back or joke to crack when his housemate would talk to him, but this moment of vulnerability was really out of his depth. It was making him open up more than he would’ve in any other situation.
‘’Yeah’’ He nodded at the male’s appreciation. After a heartbeat of hesitation, he leaned in and pressed a rushed, feather-soft kiss to Jirachi’s forehead. This made the two both a bit flustered, Jirachi breaking the silence of just their heavy breathing. ‘’Do you still wanna go to the mall…?’’ He asked, fidgeting. ''Yeah. I’ll make dinner when we’re home.’’
‘’Can we buy something at the food court, Lugia? Pleeease? I can pay you backk…’’
‘’Fine.’’
He knew Jirachi wouldn’t pay him back, especially since one of them was employed, and it was NOT the blondie. Deep down, it wasn’t about the money. Both of them knew that.
