"I'm telling you, Eugene, you should have seen it!" Lance was saying, "The spider was massive, like the size of a wheel at least, or one of those fancy dinner plates the king has!" He gestured to indicated the spiders size. "But, you know me, fearless hero Lance Strongbow," Lance puffed out his chest, "I easily vanquished that spider before it was able to scare the girls...You know what, allow me to paint the scene," He draped an arm over Eugene's shoulders, ignoring the skeptical expression on Eugene's face, "It'll be easier for you to picture just how heroic I was..."
Earlier that morning...
Lance reached up to retrieve a bowl from the kitchen cupboard. A movement to the side caught his eye and crawling out of the depths was a spider no bigger than a fingernail. Lance practically jumped out of his skin with a high-pitched, undignified screech. The bowl in his hands shattered as it hit the floor. Lance ran out of the room.
"...I'm telling you, it was so large it almost exploded out of that cupboard. And even though the girls were putting on a brave face, I could tell they were terrified, but luckily for them, I happen to have the latest in spider fighting technology..."
The girls walked in to the kitchen to see Lance almost in tears, cowering in the doorway, pointing at the tiny spider crawling along the floor towards them. Kiera tried to comfort Lance and calm him down (whilst trying her best not to roll her eyes). Catalina calmly walked into the room and picked up the spider, before throwing it out the window. She dusted off her hands and walked back over to the rest of her family. "It's okay," she patted Lance's shoulder, "the mean, scary spider's gone now, it won't hurt you."
"...And just like that, I vanquished the spider, you're welcome, you can always depend on me, it's a good thing I don't get scared or the girls could have been in real danger... Did I tell you how giant this spider was?"
Eugene nodded with a hum, the skeptical expression still on his face, "yes you did... that was very heroic of you..."
"Yes, it was..."
A pause...
"You freaked out didn't you?"
"What?! No I... Yeah"
"The girls removed the spider, didn't they?"
"...Yeah"
"... Wanna go get pizza?"
"oooh, Yes"
