Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

When it comes to your child working at the same workplace as you, some parents might feel uncomfortable, like their one place away from home, where they act differently to at home had just been taken away. Others might be happy to be able to help their child at work and keep an eye on them to make sure their not getting themselves into trouble

Millennial Tree was the second one, it wasn’t like he acted much different at work compared to home, perhaps less playful whilst at work but not by much. He was as helpful as one could get and getting to help his son, Wind Archer, was always nice. As for what they did for work…

I truth they were an underground organisation tasked with bringing dangerous and powerful criminals to justice, but if someone were to ask them he’d just say they work for the police which wasn’t entirely wrong—just mostly. Wind Archer would mostly been on the task of capturing the criminals with the rest of their squad, the E.G. compared to Millennial Tree who most of the time worked back at base, finding locations where crime rates were more frequent and where more powerful criminals were holding events but they sometimes would help out in the detaining if the criminal was more dangerous then what the E.G. could handle on their own.

Which brings them to today. All sat in a room around a u-shaped table with a large monitor showing the location of a particular casino owned by a specific mafia. The Cosa Draconis. They had been a particular pain in their sides for quite a while now, especially as more petrified cookies started showing up around the city. The plan sounded easy enough. Infiltrate the building, find the five dragons they were looking for and bring them into custody. Oh, if only it was that easy but reality was different as, despite how some of them acted, they were incredibly intelligent.

Timekeeper Cookie taps the papers in her hand against the desk before tossing their hair behind them, slightly swaying on the new spinning chair she got with her new pay raise that she’s been thoroughly enjoying. That mischievous smile on her face making it always look like she’s up to no good but to her credit she is always good at her job and always meets her deadlines. "Now, now people! As you know that little dragon mafia have been giving us a real workout as of late, but I believe that in two days we will hopefully put all this trouble to rest" she directs everyone’s attention to the board that covers the wall. It shows a—current—quiet casino from different angles. One of the front door, one at the fire exit and a few at different areas inside of the building. "You four will be tasked with infiltrating the casino and detaining the respective dragons."

"The first being Pitaya Dragon or also known as the 'red dragon'". The screen behind them changed to show multiple different images of the dragon white hair and red dough and a cocky smile plastered on their face. "Although they are reckless and frankly immature they are aware of their surroundings and how they can use it to their advantage in a fight so stay wary of that. Fire Spirit, you will be in charge of dealing with them" Fire Spirit nodded as they laid their head on their hands, leaning backwards on their chair.

"Next is Ananas Dragon or the 'golden dragon'". The screen changed again to show the dragon with yellow hair and brown dough. "They are proud and egotistical along with being very agile and cunning. Wind Archer, you will be tasked with detaining them". They lowered their head slightly in respect before replying calmly, "I understand".

"Good, good."

"Next is Lotus Dragon or the 'blue dragon'". The screen showed the elegant dragon with blue dough and turquoise hair that had a lotus shaped ornament on the back of their head. "Don’t let their looks fool you, they are very calculating and manipulative and are very good at catching people off guard. I’ve tasked Sea Fairy with this task". The blue haired girl let out a soft mhm but looked a bit nervous. The girl with star-like hair next to her put a reassuring hand on their shoulder, a smile that said ‘I believe in you'.

"Lastly is Lychee Dragon, or the ‘violet dragon'". The screen now showed a shorter dragon with raspberry pink dough and short white hair. "They may look small and innocent but they can pack a punch and are highly sadistic and arrogant so don’t think otherwise. Moonlight, you will be the one to deal with them considering, well, you’re the only one left". The girl with the starry hair nodded and smiled.

"Um- Timekeeper? I think you’re forgetting about someone" interrupted a woman with pink hair that had shades of purple and blue in it. She was Sugar Swan Cookie—Millennial Tree's ex-wife—but they didn’t end on bad terms, just both agreed that they didn’t feel in love with each other anymore. Timekeeper turned to look at her before remembering "Ah yes! Most importantly is their big boss the 'Ivory dragon'". The screen changed to show only one, blurry image that you could barely tell someone was standing there with their back turned and walking away, ivory hair swaying slightly. Fire Spirit scoffed at the image in front of them "That’s the best you’ve got? I could probably take a better picture on my laptop that’s on life support from the amount of times it’s been thrown across the room". Wind Archer shook his head, putting their head in their hands. "Well they’re a very hard dragon to get a photo of mister! Plus they’re not anywhere on any social media platform so this is the best we’ve got!" Timekeeper snapped back, not liking the fact that she was being insulted for the only photo she could get her hands on being the most blurry image in existence. "But back to the topic at hand, the Ivory dragon is a very dangerous and threatening foe, so much so that Millennial Trees will be joining you on your mission to deal with the don boss". Millennial Tree gave a small but polite wave at the people he’s been working with for the past 3 years. "It is very important that all of you understand one thing. They are never to be underestimated. If you think they're hesitating, lost in thought, caught off guard or showing any sign of weakness, do not by any circumstances fall for it! The dragon is frightfully intelligent that any form of weakness is most likely just a hoax to get you where they want you. Do you understand!" The five of them nodded rather stiffly at Timekeeper, who was usually silly and goofing around even on important matters, being serious about something. Although at seeing everyone in agreement their signature smile was then plastered on their face. "Good! Now if anyone has any further questions, email me as I want to go home. Bye bye!" Timekeeper said as they were already half way out of the door with their bag and her hand around Sugar Swans wrist who just sighed before following the woman out

The five looked at each other for a moment before grabbing their belongings themselves and leaving the building. Millennial Tree and Wind Archer walked over to the older cookies car and got in, putting the heating on before starting the car. "So anything interesting happen today?" Millennial Tree inquired as they turned onto the road. "Not much, no"
"Well, I guess no news is better than bad news, especially with our upcoming mission". The car went silent for a moment as the car stopped at the lights and stayed that way until the lights turned green. "Are you not… worried at all? That the mission might go wrong and something bad will happen?" Wind Archer clearly wasn’t totally at ease with the events happening in the next few days. Millennial Tree looked at his son through the rear view mirror, seeing how Wind Archer had wrapped their arms around them and was looking down at the car floor. In all honesty, of course Millennial Tree Cookie was worried. What if something happened to Wind Archer or him? What if one of them got captured or even killed? Millennial Tree tried to shake the thoughts away as they went back to focusing on the road. "Of course I am. But I like to think of the idea of succeeding more than failing. Makes me more confident in myself and my abilities" Wind Archer gave a slow nod at that answer, really thinking about it. "Yeah, guess that makes sense"

The rest of the car ride was quiet and so was the majority of their time once they got home as Wind Archer went upstairs after taking off his shoes, most likely to go message his online friends. Millennial Tree also wasn’t feeling like cooking tonight so they decided to just order something instead. But in the quiet, their thoughts slowly got consumed once again by the what ifs

What if something did happen and no one was there to prevent it from happening? The Ivory dragon was dangerous and could turn someone to stone by just a single glance. What if that happened to him or any of the members of the E.G.?
