Work Text:
Castor and Pollux sat before Libra. The leader of the astrals paced around them, analyzing them, her pigtails moving up and down out of sync, like they always did when the scales were weighing a decision.
The twins had been under confinement, forbidden from using their powers as punishment for their actions for many star cycles. They have no idea how many Earth cycles. A couple days, maybe a year, maybe dozens of years. They’ve lost count. Not like they could use their powers to check in on anyone anyways.
Their visions had been blurred with memories, memories of their Libra, Cancer, and Aries scorning their behavior, Taurus and Leo calling for destruction, Pisces showing them evidence that they were wrong
Lunar…
They couldn’t get how he looked at them when they last spoke. When Gemini yelled at him. They had thought they were trying to protect him, but instead they were doing anything but.
Mental abuse, Cancer had called it during one of her assessments. That’s all they had been doing to him, how they manipulated his feelings, victim blamed, forced him to try and control his emotions and powers he didn’t even understand. How they led him on and used his crush on them as leverage, as an excuse to insult him.
That didn’t even include how Lunar was overworked to the brink of burnout, Pollux had overheard Virgo talking about how she worried Lunar would’ve lost control of his powers, lost them entirely, or even…perished if Gemini was allowed to continue.
Allowed. That’s how their own siblings talked about them now. Why shouldn’t they? It’s not the first time they messed up, broken rules, made wild assumptions.
Castor shuddered at the memory.
Their brother, Sagittarius, was the bravest and best hunter and assassin of all the astrals. No rogue or dark astral escaped his piercing gaze or arrows. That’s why it was so strange to see him with Rez, one of the most dangerous of the dark astrals.
He was in danger, about to fall into a trap, he had to be. So, Gemini attacked. Sagittarius could barely pull his younger twin siblings back before Rez had already summoned his army of lackeys to counter attack, snarling about how he should’ve known the Astrals would pull something like this.
There was no trap. There was no danger. It was a meeting. Sagittarius had been negotiating a ceasefire to their war, a truce even. Let the dark astrals have the worlds that were marked for destruction or reset, and leave the healthy ones alone, and no more blood would be shed on either side. Rez had actually been about to agree, even convince his own leader to properly meet with Libra, when Gemini…ruined everything.
They had made the war not only continue, but made their conflict even worse. There would be no potential negotiation in the future now that the dark astrals would always assume that they would be betrayed the second they agreed to anything:
Gemini hadn’t been punished, it was decided having Sagittarius die trying to protect them was punishment enough.
Not long after, Lunar’s powers were sensed, and they were offered a chance to prove themselves.
“Prove you can be trusted not to overstep by training this mortal to use his powers properly.” Libra had told them.
Castor and Pollux almost jumped at the chance. They could do it, make Lunar one of their strongest allies and make up for Sagittarius’ death. They would make their family proud.
Instead, they did anything but.
Now they sat waiting for final judgment. Would their confinement continue for another unknown amount of time, would they be cast out from the astrals all together, put into the front lines as meat shields, or would they finally be allowed to…well free wasn’t the exact word. Even if they were allowed to leave they would still be under heavy monitoring.
Libra cleared her throat, making Castor and Pollux snap their attention onto her.
“Castor. Pollux. I have trust you have thought long and hard about your actions.” She began.
“Yes, Libra.” They answered in sync.
“And you understand why they were wrong? Why you were wrong?”
“Yes, Libra.”
“And neither of you have tried to use your powers, even with the lock?”
“No, Libra.”
“And” Libra fully turned to them, her heavy and judgmental gaze hardening, daring them to just try and lie to her. “Do you know what you are meant to do, about any thing?”
“Ask you for clarification.” Castor and Pollux answered, lowering their heads. “Assumptions lead only to destruction.”
Libra was quiet for a long moment. “Very good. I believe…you have been confined for long enough.”
The twins fought themselves not to perk up. Do not let them act out of instinct now, in front of Libra.
Libra knelt in front of them. “Now, do you have any questions before I remove the lock and grant you access to your powers once more?”
Castor and Pollux glanced at each other, making sure that they were on the same page as they always had been.
“May…may we visit the planet Earth?” Castor asked hesitantly.
“We wish to check on Lunar.” Pollux elaborated. “And to…apologize.”
Libra raised an eyebrow, her pigtails once again moving as she considered their request.
“You may.”

Gemini never thought they would be so glad to breach this planet’s atmosphere. It’s been so long since they’ve seen its blue and green surface and smelt its air.
“I missed this place.” Pollux breathed, finally starting to sound like her happy, almost carefree self again.
“I did as well.” Castor admitted.
But there is one they hadn’t realized they would miss most of all until he was suddenly not a constant in their lives.
Lunar. His laugh. His smile. His flustered face. His…eyes…filled with so much fear and distrust in them. How had those baby blues had looked when he learned the truth about what they had done.
“Do you…do you think he misses us too?” Pollux asked hesitantly.
Castor was silent for a long moment. “I…I hope so.”
Please don’t let the relationship they had destroyed already be long gone.
As eager as they were to see their former student again, they needed to…talk with someone.
Pollux winced as earth’s sights and sounds practically assaulted their senses. It had been so long since they had their powers of observation, she wondered if this what mortals referred to as overstimulation.
“Just a little longer.” Castor assured his twin, ignoring his own strain. “Our senses should calm down once we find Pisces.”
Pisces, their youngest sister, not only had taken up residence on earth with a mortal family she considered her own, she had also taken over Lunar’s training.
But it wasn’t like Gemini could’ve asked how Lunar had adjusted, they hardly saw her since the meeting. Even if they did, she would outright avoid them. To think they were once so close as young stars and now…
Gemini shook their head. They’ll have time to discuss that and more once they arrive. Ah, there she is.
Honestly if it wasn’t for all astrals ability to sense others, their own blood especially, they probably wouldn’t have recognized their sister.
Pisces’s mortal disguise was strange, a crude version of their Moon. She had said it made her look…cool in the past. But still, she had a bright smile as a young fox animatronic floated above her with his own, but much weaker, star power.
“You’re doing great, FC!”
Gemini tried not to wince at the sound of her voice. Why did she sound like that?
As they landed on the beach, they watched as Pisces sensed their presence, suddenly bristling. She gently pulled FC into her arms and placed him on the ground.
“FC, can you go back to the house please?”
The tiny fox blinked up at her. “Why? Is there danger? You need backup?”
Pisces chuckled mirthlessly. “You could say that.”
“I’ll go get dad!” FC said, determination in his eyes as he darted off. “Be careful, Frank!”
Frank? Did…he just call Pisces…Frank?
Pisces waited until who Gemini assumed was her adopted brother was out of sight before addressing them without turning to them.
“Gemini.” She said flatly. “I see Libra has set you free.”
“Yes.” Gemini said in sync. “It is…good to see you again, Pisces.”
Pisces snorted. “Can’t say the same.”
She finally turned to them, her eyes, no matter how disguised they were, held the same intensity as they always did when she was delivering visions and dreams.
“In this form, you shall refer to me as Frank.” She-er-He stated firmly. “It is the name I have adopted and so long as I appear like this I would prefer to be addressed as such.”
Gemini blinked. Just how much had time on earth, with these mortals changed their sister? Brother?
“Of…of course Pi-Frank.”
Frank didn’t lower his guard, not for a second. “What do you want, Gemini?”
Castor cleared their throat. Might as well get straight to the point. “How is…Lunar’s training going?”
Frank raised an eyebrow. “He is doing well. Physically and mentally. Gaining more control every day, Aries thinks he might be ready for an assessment soon.”
That was all he was willing to give, it seemed.
“Oh, already?” Pollux questioned.
“Yes.” Frank said flatly. “Lunar is very talented once he is in the right environment and…given the right training conditions.”
It was a clear jab at them, one Gemini couldn’t help but lower their head.
“And…you are happy here?” They asked. “With these…mortals?”
Frank nodded. “I am. Foxy is an excellent father and FC and Stichwraith are wonderful siblings. I would give my own life to protect theirs, I love and care for them and they the same.”
“That’s…that’s good.” Gemini admitted. “We’re glad…”
“Are you?” Frank ask skeptically. “Because I remember a time you told me that care for mortals is a fickle thing and that we should not bother getting attached.”
Gemini wilted, of course he would bring that up.
“We…we can admit we were harsh in saying that.” Pollux said honestly. “Especially given the circumstances.”
They were met with a harsh glare and Frank practically hissing at them. “Those circumstances being I was mourning the unjust and untimely death of my partner?! The one who accepted me, who loved me, who made me more comfortable with who I am than either of you ever had?!”
“How can you blame us?!” Castor demanded before he could stop himself. They were not here to be reminded of their mistakes and judged for them, they had already had their fill with Libra. “We had nothing to do with it! We don’t know you expected us to do!”
Frank stared at them, unnervingly so, for a long moment. “I had hoped my big brother and sister would comfort me, at least.”
Gemini’s whole physique softened. He sounded…longing almost. He hadn’t referred to Castor and Pollux under those titles for so long.
“Instead” Frank continued, voice rising again. “You gloated about how you were right, that you had told me to not get too attached! You reminded me over and over again about your views on mortals all while I struggled to break down and cry for the one I wanted to spend this whole lifetime beside! How long would you have continued had Scorpio not stung you and made you leave?”
“Th-That’s not-! We didn’t mean it like that!” Gemini rushed out. “We didn’t mean to hurt you! We just thought-!”
“Thought what? That I was being too sensitive and over emotional?”
“No! We would never-“
“But you did.” Frank interrupted. “To your own cosmic dust and star power. And especially to the one you were supposed to help and guide. I think I speak for the both of us when I say we are far better off without you now.”
No. No he didn’t mean that. Pisces-Frank could hate them all he wants, for all eternity even, but he didn’t actually think that, did he? And Lunar…Lunar would understand why they did what they did. Wouldn’t he.
Before Gemini could even think of a response
“Crescent?”
They turned in surprise to find a Monty model approaching them. It wasn’t the Monty they knew. This Monty had short orange hair in place of a mohawk and his shoulder pads, gloves, and feet were a dull silver in place of purple. His claws almost looked…rusted.
The Monty walked right past Gemini, straight to Frank and wrapping a protective arm around him.
“Is everything alright, babe?”
Babe? This…this couldn’t be-
“I’m fine, Ricky.” Frank told him, gently before gaze turned harsh on Gemini once again. “They were just leaving.”
This…this was Frank’s partner. But how? He was supposed to be dead, destroyed! How can he be-
As if sensing their confusion, Frank sighed and shook his head. “You give mortals far little credit. Some, are not as fickle as you believe.”
“Some can even preform miracles despite all odds.” Ricky added, interlocking his hand with his partner. “Just because they care so deeply about someone.”
Gemini watched as Frank allowed himself to be led away, barely offering so much as a glance.
“What does he mean?” Pollux asked to no one in particular. “Did…did we not care enough?”
Castor was seething. How dare he. This Ricky didn’t even know them. What right did he have to judge them?
Then a soccer ball suddenly hit them in the face.
“Bullseye!”
“Nice shot, FC!”
“FC, you better not lose that ball again! Stitchy, don’t encourage him!”
“Sorry, dad!”
Ok, they definitely need to recalibrate their senses. Noted.

Gemini stared at the strange scene before them. They had just gone to this forest to contemplate what they had been told, what they had witnessed, when they heard laughter. Familiar laughter.
Eclipse?
When they entered the clearing, they saw the animatronic in question sitting by a campfire. Beside him was Bloodmoon with a small green moon-model animatronic in his lap Gemini didn’t recognize.
“There you go, baby brother.” Bloodmoon encouraged as he helped the toddler grip the stick that held a marshmallow over the fire. “Just like that.”
“Boys, don’t let Exel get too close to the fire.” A tall moon-model animatronic called. KC, Gemini thinks his name was. He appeared to be setting up a tent with a second animatronic, this one having a computer monitor for a head.
“Relax dad, we got him.” Eclipse insisted.
Exel started squealing excitedly as the marshmallow suddenly caught fire. Bloodmoon grinned and pulled the stick back towards them.
“Ready? One two three, blow!”
Both Bloodmoon and Exel blew on the marshmallow to put it out. “Alright!”
“Good job, squirt!”
“Mama!”
“I see, baby!”
Gemini watched as the older brothers praised the younger so easily, breaking off into laughter as Exel sunk his little fangs into his sugary treat, getting it all over his face.
They felt something…hot within them. Anger, maybe? Eclipse. Who caused Lunar so much pain, whose death made Gemini make one of the worst mistakes in their lives. How dare he act so happy? So carefree.
They felt their fists start to glow with slowly building energy. Like they were getting ready to attack.
“Don’t even THINK about it Gemini.” Aries’ voice suddenly boomed in their mind, making the power dissipate and them to recoil. “Don’t you dare attack another mortal. Or would you two like to be even more of a hypocrite than you already are?”
Right…when Lunar killed Eclipse…Castor and Pollux were furious. They gaslit him, victim blamed him, belittled him. All until that other animatronic, Jack, leapt to Lunar’s defense, demanding they “GET AWAY YOU THREAT!”
In a moment of instinct, Gemini fired an attack, blasting him right in the chest where he immediately crumbled to the floor at Lunar’s feet, who screamed in horror. Then, like cowards, Gemini left. Using what they thought would be a trial deciding Lunar’s fate as an excuse.
What would happen to them should they attack the same animatronic? Probably that same trial they expected Lunar to be forced into.
“Castor” Pollux started. “Let…lets just go…”
However, as they turned to leave
“Oh yeah, Eclipse. How did it go yesterday, with Earth and Lunar?”
They turned back. What?
“Huh? Oh yeah, went surprisingly well.” Eclipse said casually. “Though they absolutely destroyed me and Flare in Gang Beasts.”
“That’s because Earth cheats.” A crude version of a sun model, Flare they assumed, stated as he carried a bundle of firewood while a pitbull had a large branch in its mouth.
“She does not, Flare. You just suck at video games.” Eclipse shot back.
Gemini suddenly felt a small burst in their chest. Hope? It had to be. If Lunar could hang out with Eclipse, that meant he must’ve forgiven him. Right? That meant.
“Lunar CAN forgive us!” Pollux cheered in the head.
“Yes.” Castor agreed. “It only makes sense.”
With that, they turned and flew off. In their haste, however, they missed a crucial part of the conversation.
“Have you asked for his forgiveness yet?” Bloodmoon asked.
Eclipse shook his head. “I haven’t had the guts to, I don’t think I ever will.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I don’t deserve his forgiveness. I’ve apologized more times than I can count, sure, but forgiveness is not what either of us need. I don’t want to put anymore mental turmoil on him, anyways. We just need to…coexist peacefully.”
KC smiled proudly. “That’s very mature of you, my son.”

Gemini stared at the doors of the Pizza Plex. This was it. Sure they could’ve just teleported right to wherever Lunar was like they had done many times before, but who knew how he would react to suddenly seeing them for the first time in so long. They should give him more time to brace himself. Besides, they still needed a bit more time to get their thoughts together.
“Ready?” Castor asked, almost instantly he felt his sister beam excitedly.
“Let’s do this.”
With that, they pushed open the doors and made a b-line for the daycare.
They had only just entered the area when they heard humming. Turning, they were surprised to spot Ruin on a ladder, seeming to repair one of the light fixtures. What was he doing here.
Any will to investigate and interrogate the one they deemed as an interdimensional threat in the past fled the second they heard Solar call out. He walked out of the theater with a small, lightly colored Eclipse-model on his hip. Where were this child animatronics coming from?
If they recalled, Solar was Jack’s creator, his parent. They didn’t want to find out what exactly he thought of them, knowing they had attacked and nearly crippled his son.
Ruin beamed as he carefully descended the ladder. To Gemini’s surprise, he and Solar embraced and shared a kiss. The toddler in between them gagged halfheartedly. Luckily, neither of them appeared to notice Gemini in the entrance.
“Hows the repairs going?” Solar asked, adjusting the toddler as she squirmed.
“As well as they could, darling.” Ruin shrugged. “I swear, these light bulbs go out every other day.”
Solar tilted his head. “I thought Jack was supposed to be helping you?”
“Jackie?”
Ruin grinned down at their daughter. “Jackie’s not here, Lyra sweetheart. He’s with you know who~”
Solar beamed. “Atta boy! He finally asked?”
“Yes, you should’ve seen how nervous he was.” Ruin confirmed. “I thought they would never get through that…awkward patch. But they both seem willing to give it a try!”
“I’m guessing he said he’ll meet us at home?” Solar asked with a smirk, turning to follow Ruin out the other entrance.
“Naturally. He said he’ll give us a call.”
“He better!”
“Jackie rizz!”
Ruin and Solar burst out laughing. “Lyra!”
Gemini listened as their voices got farther away as they left. That’s strange. But no matter, not what they were here for.
They approached the daycare, the doors suddenly swung open and Sun and Moon walked out, deep in conversation.
Gemini cleared their throat as Lunar’s older brothers failed to notice them even as they got closer. “Hello, Sun, Moon.”
When Sun and Moon finally looked at them, their eyes both held a burning hatred that made the combined astral flinch back.
Then, just as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished as the brothers continued their conversation as if they hadn’t been interrupted at all.
“Like I said, we probably need to stock up on more colored pencils if they are just going to continue going missing.” Sun stated matter-of-factly.
“Right. Makes sense.” Moon agreed, making a point to shove past Gemini.
Gemini watched them go. Ok, that could’ve gone better. But Sun and Moon never had a very positive opinion of them anyways, so that shouldn’t have affected them so much.
Then the doors opened again, they couldn’t help but grin when they saw who it was.
“Earth! Good to see you!” Pollux greeted happily. She and Earth had been quite close friends, so surely she-
“What are you two doing here?”
Gemini scanned her face, trying to find her almost signature warmth and welcoming aura. But they found none, in its place was a cold and calculating stare partnered with a deep frown.
Pollux gulped, suddenly hesitant. “We…we were just released from our confinement and-“
“Nebula already told me.” Earth interjected. Right, Nebula was also Earth’s friend so why wouldn’t the astral’s messenger share such an important update? “So why come here specifically?”
Castor studied her face, judging by her expression she must already know. “We wish to see Lunar, to beg for his forgiveness.”
Earth raised an eyebrow. “And do you think he will?”
“Why wouldn’t he?” Pollux asked honestly.
Earth let out a mirthless laugh and shook her head. “You really think after all you put him through, he’ll just forgive you?”
“Why shouldn’t he?” Castor inquired, folding their arms. “He seems to be getting along with Eclipse well enough.”
“That’s because Eclipse is taking the steps to be better.” Earth pointed out. “So what do you plan on doing to make it up to Lunar?”
Gemini thought for a long moment. This was a test, wasn’t it? But if they failed…
“First we apologize to him, explain why our actions were wrong then…we ask to be friends again.”
“Do you think it’ll be that easy?” Earth challenged.
Gemini lowered their head. Honestly, no. They still had yet to fully rebuild their trust with their own siblings. But…Lunar would understand, right? They were just trying to protect him.
“Gemini, do you know how long it’s been since we’ve seen you?” Earth inquired.
Gemini blinked. They knew well enough that time in space seemed much longer than time on any planet. But surely hadn’t been that long-
“Two years.”
Gemini froze. What?
“It’s been two years since you broke Lunar down mentally. Not months, not days, years.” Earth informed. “I was lucky that Lunar forgave me within a few weeks of what happened, and that’s after taking every opportunity to make it up to him, but you? Do you know how many times he’s talked about you?”
Surely he has. He had to. He missed them…didn’t he?
Earth got closer to their face. “None.” She spat. “He’s never talked about you positively once. The only time your name has even come up lately is when he’s waking from the nightmares about you killing him. Do you understand that? He doesn’t miss you, he’s scared of you. He hates you.”
No. No that’s not true. Lunar can’t-Lunar wouldn’t. Earth was just being an overprotective sister and an over emotional mortal. They scanned her body and her aura, trying to find a reason-there! There was a strange bit of energy coming from her that they’ve never felt from her before.
Gemini’s eyes landed on Earth’s stomach. “Earth, are you-“
The tall animatronic’s eyes widened before hardening into a glare. “That has nothing to do with this! How dare you?!” She exclaimed. “Even after all that time in confinement you still haven’t changed! You’re still the same self righteous idiots you were before! God, I can’t believe Lunar ever considered loving you!”
With a huff, Earth stormed off. Not even offering a goodbye in any form. Gemini watched her retreating form.
“This…This is fine.” Castor said, trying to compose themselves. “We just have to find Lunar and…and everything will be fine.”
“Right” Pollux agreed. “Sure things can never be how they were before, but-“
Suddenly they heard a voice, one that made their heart jump and then soar. Lunar! He was still in the plex! They just had to- There!
Gemini didn’t realize how fast they were moving until they stopped. There, at one of the cafe’s tables and messing with his phone was
“Lunar…”
The small animatronic looked up at the sound of their voice. When their eyes met, he froze in shock.
“Gemini?”
The combined astral smiled. “Hello Lunar, it’s good to see you again.”
Lunar shook his head to get his thoughts straight. “Why…Why are you here?”
“We wanted to see you again.” Gemini told him. “And to apologize.”
No point of delaying, they’ve waited long enough. Gemini made a point of getting on their knees, trying to lower themselves to prove they weren’t doing this to gain control over him again.
“Lunar, we’re sorry. We’re so so sorry.” They began. “Believe us when we say we had no idea that your life was never in danger. With Taurus and Leo’s track record and what we had heard previously, we assumed. And we are sorry, if we had known from the beginning maybe…maybe we-“
“Wouldn’t have threatened me?” Lunar interrupted, eyes narrowing with suspicion. “Wouldn’t have pushed me past my limits? Wouldn’t have used my emotions against me? Wouldn’t have treated me like the worst criminal alive for not forgiving the one that murdered me at the drop of a hat? Is that it? Is that what you want me to do? Forgive you?”
Gemini lowered themselves further. Don’t react more than that. Don’t get angry. He’ll misinterpret their actions if they did. “Yes” They confessed. “We’ve come to beg for your forgiveness, Lunar. We beg for your friendship, your kinship back. We beg to start over. We beg for your help to move forward from this. So please, Lunar, can you forgive us?”
Lunar stared at them for a long moment. This was it. This is where he’ll accept their apology, where they’ll become friends again, close again, maybe they’ll even get to-
“No.”
Gemini bristled. What? What did he say?”
“No” Lunar repeated. “I can’t forgive you. Not after how you treated me, what you put me through. Not when you have done nothing to prove you deserve to even speak to me again.”
Gemini wilted. This…this wasn’t right. This wasn’t how this was supposed to go. Prove they deserve it, that’s all they had to do, right? Maybe they could
They reached for Lunar’s hand, only for it to be sharply pulled back. They made sure to keep their eyes soft, sincere and full of regret. “Lunar we…we have done a lot of thinking about how you felt about us. And we realized we…we actually reciprocated. So maybe, if you give us a chance, we could-“
“Get the hell away from him.” A voice growled.
Turning, Gemini say none other than Jack walking towards them. In the time they have been gone, he had grown taller and his voice a little deeper than before. He seemed much more mature from the animatronic they had attacked. Then again, so had Lunar. Time does strange things to mortals.
Jack placed the two milkshakes he was carrying on Lunar’s table. Flexing his claws, the knives in his hands appeared at his fingertips. “Lunar, do you need me to get rid of them for you.”
Lunar sighed shaking his head. “No Jack, I don’t need you getting hurt by them again. Besides, they were just leaving.”
The two animatronics stared at them expectantly, waiting for them to make a move. But Gemini only stared, how Lunar looked at and spoke to Jack, how he spoke to him and seemed even more protective of him in turn.
Were…were they…?
Jack retracted his knives and took Lunar’s hand, rubbing it comfortingly all while still glaring at Gemini.
Castor and Pollux’s souls seemed to fall. They…they were too late. They never considered how Lunar felt seriously before, barely entertained it. And now…they’ve lost him.
They lost the one person that made them truly feel alive, and they never even realized it. Was this how Frank felt with his partner, Ricky? Or Libra when she was with Nebula’s other parent?
Gemini closed their eyes, not wanting Lunar to see them cry.
“I…We understand.” Castor muttered.
“We really are sorry, Lunar.” Pollux added. “I promise.”
“I don’t care anymore.” Lunar stated, closing his eyes, refusing to give them a second glance. When he opened them, Gemini was gone.
Gemini waited until they were back in their quarters to split apart into their separate forms and struggle not to lose control of their powers. They hadn’t broken down like this since the beginning of their confinement, when all they did wrong was first thrown back at them.
How in the void did Leo go through punishments like that and still come out so cocky?
Lunar hated them. He really did hate them. How long? How long did it take the fear to turn to anger? To resentment? Was this purely because of how they treated him, or had he been told of their past mistakes. What are they thinking, of course he was. Lunar was a full astral student now, why wouldn’t he have been told, what they did to the predecessor he’ll never get to properly know.
And now…now they would be tortured by what could’ve been. Forever.
Lunar let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Thanks, Jack.”
Jack lowered his guard significantly. “Of course.”
Lunar took his milkshake and began to slowly drink it as Jack took the seat across from him. His mind still whirled with conflict, at one point he had dreamed, hoped, that Gemini would feel the same for him as he once did for them, but now? Now it was overshadowed by the halfway decent apology that was littered with their own self serving agenda.
Jack took a long sip of his own milkshake. “Did you…wanna go sparing after this? To blow off some steam?”
Lunar looked at him. Jack was so considerate of his feelings, so protective, so…loving. Back when Jack first confessed to having a crush on him, they were both still young, barely considered teenagers mentally. He would admit he got flashbacks to him confessing to Gemini. He assumed Jack only thought he was in love because he was originally built to be his bodyguard.
But now that they were both older, more mature than when they first met, and understood more about themselves and each other in turn. Lunar was so glad he said screw it and decided to give Jack a chance.
Lunar felt himself softly smile. “Sure.”
Jack responded with the wide grin he had come to love so much.
Neither could wait to see what the future held for them.
All while Gemini dreaded it.
What would Sagittarius think of them now, they wondered.
