Chapter Text
Everything hurt, it was blurry and hard to think straight, nothing felt right. Our bodies were fading, the soul jams power had faded almost entirely and it used to be what was keeping us together. There was still a sliver of power left but just barely enough to keep the rest of us alive. The dust had faded and we were left alone, Silent Salt, that stupid knight. He caused this, he made all of this happen, he brought this upon all of us. That TRAITOR! Unfortunately I couldn't stay conscious long enough to do much more than try to crawl closer to those cursed heroes, yet that bumbling fool of a cookie Pure Vanilla may be his only chance of survival, no matter how much he loathed the idea. He woke again in a sickeningly bright room, the walls a cream color and stained glass window bringing in a colorful array of lights all across the room. Soon enough I tried to sit up yet immediately my body protested violently with a sharp pain being sent all throughout it leaving me vulnerable once again. Soon the door opened and I saw the face I loathed yet knew I had to be thankful for my survival, Pure Vanilla cookie.
“Oh Shadow Milk! You're awake, how lovely! I am so glad to see you alive, I was worried my efforts may not have been enough…” Pure Vanilla spoke in his irritatingly sweet voice, yet at the moment, it was comforting, yet I couldn't let this halfbaked nat see that.
“Yes yes! It takes more than some treacherous knight to end my show's grand design!” My voice very nearly didn't obey and nearly died on me as I spoke yet somehow I managed to keep it stable and regular.
The halfbaked thief came over and admittedly was rather helpful with his healing abilities. He seemed to be somehow keeping me alive, and I could feel the power slowly returning to my soul jam, and in turn, to my body. Likely due to the connection through the half the thief stole of my soul jam, at least the nat was useful to me now. Unfortunately I was still weak yet some of the pain had faded luckily, even if the world felt as if it was spinning when I sat up. Pure Vanilla would give me those worried looks, yet he told me that the other beasts were being cared for. It was odd watching him now, he seemed different now, as if something tragic had happened. I couldn't be bothered to ask the first few days, yet eventually my curiosity got the better of me.
“What is with that depressing look on your face Nilly? You won that silly war against that half baked fool, what more could you want?” I knew he heard my words as he paused his movements, his hands started shaking even. It was unnerving to see when he was usually so sunny. It bothered me, yet I wasn't entirely sure why, not yet.
“Shadow Milk, please. I don't believe now is the appropriate time to be discussing this. I have your healing to focus on, perhaps later we can talk about this.” Pure Vanilla's voice trembled to match his hands. Unfortunately his answer only served to make me all the more curious. Especially when the usually composed healed was acting so very strange. Yet somehow I found myself not pushing the subject, it was odd for me, it certainly felt weird. What in the world was I doing anyways, being so friendly with this thief. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that pushing would only make my answers farther away. And so I kept my mouth shut and simply watched as the healer kept his magic flowing, at least he could manage that, even if it seemed he had far more in that head of his than initially thought.
