"Was it worth it?"
He blinks, the ocean waves crashing against the shore.
It's so loud.
She sits beside him, legs crossed and small fists scrunching the damp sand.
"It must have been," he finally answers with a dry mouth. It must have been.
"Even though it ended like this?" Now she scrunches her face, as she always did to simple answers.
"Yeah, well…"
"Everything you said and you just… gave up."
"I—"
"You ran to your own death."
"… Yeah. I guess I did."
The ocean screams. It sounds like Nya.
"But the rest of it… that was worth it."
