Paint My Nails and Wear High Heels

Summary:

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Husk easily surprises Angel every time he does literally anything. After a long day of work, Angel is trying on new outfits to wear during his weekend job at the club. Husk helps a little more than the spider expected.

A little oneshot based off of my other work "Please... Come Back..." It takes place after Chapter 23 but can be read alone as it doesn't have any information about the story at all.

Notes:

Hii! I hope you enjoy my little story of nothingness.

I published this during chapter 18 of the story because I felt it was feeling a little bleak and I wanted to have some fluff added!

Fun Fact: Please... Come Back... was suppose to be a full fluff piece before it became what it is. The idea got blended with another story I wanted to write, believe it or not Chapter 21 was the first chapter I wrote!

Work Text:

Angel sighed as he sat in front of the vanity in his room he shared with Husk. He adjusted his chest fluff for probably the 10th time in his dress as he stared back at himself in the mirror. He was contemplating on new outfits to wear for his show later that week, it was Sunday after all and he had to prepare. He wasn’t sure why the dress didn’t seem to be sitting on him right, it wasn’t like he lost any weight with how Husk had been cooking for him. Angel eyed up the various things on the vanity, perfumes, makeup, some instruments to put the makeup on. He started rifling through the drawers when the bedroom door opened.

“I got you some… oh wow…” Husk stopped in his tracks, carrying a little paper plate. Angel looked at him through the mirror. Husk was in a rather nice looking suit with red trims on it.

“Oooo~” Angel turned around on the stool and held all four of his arms out to the cat, “What’d you bring me from the casino this time?” Husk smiled and walked over with the plate, presenting it to the taller sinner. Angel’s dress was stunning, a mesh ombre of a dusty grey at his chest that cascaded down into a soft white by his feet. The fabric was bunched around by his chest, there was a slit in the side that stopped scandalously on his upper hip, exposing the string of the white thong the spider had on underneath.

Husk tore his eyes away from Angel to look at the plate as he stood right before the other sinner, Angel’s lower hands rested now on Husk’s hips while the upper hands took the little plate. “They hired a new chef for high roller events,” Husk explained, “Al let me take home his desserts this time too so thank him.” Husk then went on to explain what each of the four little tarts on the plate were before Angel greedily ate them up, moaning. “You know, you could save some for later sometimes….” Husk mumbled.

Angel placed the now empty little plate on the vanity and wrapped his upper two arms around Husk’s shoulders, pulling him in closer, “Baby, if I don’t eat them fresh they might taste different,” Angel nodded to himself, a cute little pout on his face.

Husk grinned and he leaned in, Angel closed his eyes, expecting a kiss but then gasped. Husk’s sandpaper-like tongue drifted over his lips then licked up the side of his face before the cat pulled back, “They’ve been sittin’ out for like an hour,” Husk said, “But I guess they taste pretty nice.”

“Pretty nice? Maybe we should poach them then, ask ‘em to work here,” Angel cooed, leaning forward a bit, the action causing his dress to once again slip down his torso. Husk’s eyes immediately went down to the exposed fluff and he reached down, gently grabbing the dress and pulling it up for Angel. The spider sighed and leaned back in his stool, as if there was anything to lean back against.

Husk caught on easily to Angel’s predicament and his eyes flew over to the spider’s jewelry box that was sitting off to the side, Angel followed that gaze and opened it up. “Go right ahead,” Angel murmured, gesturing to the open box. Husk nodded and started going through the box before pulling out two identical necklaces. He carefully unclipped one to lace into the other before pushing himself between Angel’s legs.

Angel’s eyes were glued to Husk’s hands, the way his large claws fiddled with the clasp on the necklace was cute. Soon Husk’s hands found their way to Angel’s chest, where he carefully pressed a claw in the fabric, making small holes on either side with his claw before hooking the necklaces into place, the metal resting on the back of Angel’s neck. Angel blinked down at the pieces of metal before turning his body to look at himself in the vanity mirror. The chains glittered in the light of the vanity.

Giving the dress a test run, Angel stood, the chain partly biting into his neck as the dress pulled down on it. But the dress was staying in place and honestly that mattered more. Angel walked over to the full length mirror in the corner of the room and crossed his arms over his chest as he appraised the dress in his head. The image in the full length mirror changed as Husk’s wings soon appeared to frame his body, white claws resting on his hips. Angel lifted a brow and leaned back against Husk a bit, tilting his body slightly, causing Husk’s to tilt with him.

“Ya know, Whiskers, your wings look pretty good on me,” Angel mused. Soon Husk’s head poked out to look around Angel’s side, into the mirror as well.

“Too low,” Husk commented. Angel nodded a bit in agreement only to stumble a bit as Husk’s weight transferred to his upper shoulders as the cat flapped his wings. Soon Husk was right behind Angel, wings flapping in just the right spot, and as Angel’s eyes drifted up at the image in the mirror he couldn’t help but let out a laugh as he saw his head. Husk’s directly behind him giving him an appearance of having cat ears. Husk pulled himself up a bit to peek over the top of Angel’s head but he didn’t quite understand what he was laughing at, making a bit of a face.

Angel easily waved a hand toward Husk before turning around, smiling at his lover that he was now face-to-face with. “You think this’ll look nice for tomorrow?” Angel asked. Husk hummed before he planted his paws back down on the floor.

“Can I try something?” Husk asked, sounding a bit too eager.

“Sure, Baby, whatever you want~” Angel cooed, his forearms resting against Husk’s shoulders, only dropping to his sides when Husk walked back over to the vanity. Curious, Angel followed and sat down on his little stool after the cat pat it gently.

“Close your eyes,” Husk mumbled before searching through the items on Angel’s vanity. The spider grinned a bit but did as asked.

“Whatcha gonna do, Baby?” Angel asked, flinching a bit when one of Husk’s paws pressed softly against his cheek.

“I wanna try this,” Husk murmured, soon a delicate and soft brush was pressed to the spider’s eyelid. The gentle rubbing into his eyelid tickled a bit but Angel did his best to keep a straight face. Soon the action repeated on his other eyelid. Whatever compelled Husk to want to do this, Angel didn’t care to ask, it felt like he was being pampered.

Gentle pressure from the soft heart pad on Husk’s paw had Angel tilting his head slightly, another brush returned, smaller, dusting powder over the lids of his eyes like the first. During this Husk continued to gently push and pull at Angel’s jaw with his paw. Angel’s arms soon reached forward, hands easily finding purchase on the cat demon in front of him and gently gripping onto the fabric covering his form.

The spider stayed perfectly still as other products were soon applied to his face, a powder applied to the very tops of his cheeks, a stick of lipstick gently pressed over his lips, a small brush carefully sliding around his eyes. Then a claw gently rested next to the corner of his eye, a pencil gently following the curve of it before the action was repeated on the other side. After the pencil was pulled away it was replaced on his cheek by a wet liquid on a small brush, patterns being drawn.

Husk mumbled a few things to himself while Angel heard the drawers being opened and closed around him. Husk must have found what he was looking for as a plastic clack sounded on the vanity. Then another cold liquid was applied to the very edge of Angel’s eyelids. The spider shivered as Husk gently blew air towards his face. Then another cold liquid pressed against Angel’s eyes as fake eyelashes were applied to his eyelids, they were held in place for a few seconds before the cat let go.

“Okay, open,” Husk said, and Angel’s eyelids did flutter open, he was met with the beautiful golden orbs of the smaller demon. Husk seemed to be appraising his work before his eyes drifted to the vanity and he picked up one last thing. Angel’s eyes drifted to Husk’s claws as he watched the cat expertly open a tube of lip gloss, a streak of black along one of his claws. Husk then gently rested his paw gently against Angel’s face, sliding the brush over the spider’s lips before nodding to himself and gesturing to the mirror.

Angel’s eyes widened as he looked at the image mirrored back at him. A very soft rosey blush adorned his cheeks, a deep grey over his eyelids with a shimmery white blended in the middle. The perfect cat-eyed liner stretched out over his eye, complimented by rather long but natural looking lashes. His lips were a very soft rose pink, the gloss only adding a bit of shine to it. Angel’s expression shifted to a smile and his eyelids lowered as his eyes met the cat’s beside him.

“What can’t you do, Husky?” Angel purred, sliding one of his hands down Husk’s thigh.

The cat blushed and his eyes shifted to the vanity, “Your nails probably,” Husk grumbled. Angel gasped and quickly opened a drawer on the other side of the vanity, searching it with his upper two hands while the lower two stayed tightened on the cat’s clothing. Angel then placed a few things on the vanity, four bottles of nail polish, a makeup sponge that seemed to be cut up, and a stack of napkins.

“This one is a top coat and a base coat, you use it first and last,” Angel explained, Husk blinked, hadn’t he just said he couldn’t do this? “This is what you’ll use as the base,” Angel pointed to a grey polish that matched the dress, “And you’re gonna sponge the white on to make it ombre like the dress,” Angel pushed the polishes toward Husk, “The last one is glitter, just use it before you use the top coat to make some of the nails sparkle.

Husk bit his lip as he tried to retain the information but, rather than complaining, soon the two of them were at the beanbags in the corner of the room. Angel sitting on one while Husk was seated cross legged on the other. Angel had turned on some musical on their tv that Husk wasn’t really able to concentrate on. The cat had Angel’s upper right hand resting on his knee as he dutifully slid the brush over Angel’s claws. His tongue was poking out of his mouth tightly as he concentrated, holding the small nail brush between his claws wasn’t as easy as you’d think.

“Fuck,” Angel nearly jumped when Husk’s voice pulled him away from the tv. Angel giggled to himself as he saw Husk had very much over painted one of Angel’s nails, the grey color now a goopy stripe over Husk’s claw.

“You’ll survive Husky~” Angel cooed before looking back at the movie. Husk grumbled but continued his work without worrying about the claw. He did the best he could, really, Angel’s nails weren’t perfect but they weren’t so awful.

“Where’s the stuff to get this off?” Husk asked after he finished the last finger on Angel’s lower left hand. Angel really made him work, having him paint all three sets of nails. Angel shifted his attention back to Husk. The cat had certainly made more than just a single mistake, his claws splattered in grey, white, and glittered nail polish.

“I don’t think you need to take it off,” Angel mused, taking the nail polish from Husk, tugging the cat’s hand over to his own lap.

“Angel I don’t-” The spider simply pressed one of his newly lacquered fingers to the cat’s mouth as he began to slide the brush over the cat’s claws. Husk sighed in defeat and relaxed against the beanbag chair, shifting his eyes to see that Angel had been watching Chicago. Renée Zellweger’s voice over the speakers as she wore that tiny silver number singing about how famous Roxie was going to be. Husk had seen the musical a few times in his life.

“Have you ever thought about doing burlesque?” Husk asked absentmindedly as the actress moved around the scene with her seductive dancing.

“I thought about it,” Angel replied, concentrating on painting Husk’s long claws.

“Did you look like her?” Husk asked. This caused Angel’s eyes to snap up to the screen.

“Hmm… Hair’s similar but that’s about it,” Angel said before turning his attention back to Husk’s claws. Husk tried to picture what a human Angel Dust looked like but given the little detail he had it was still hard to imagine in his mind.

“Done~” Angel cooed, letting Husk’s paws free, the cat looked down to see Angel had definitely styled his nails more then Husk had done to Angel, the glitter polish gleaming on the tips of his nails.

“How long do I have to wear this?” Husk asked, looking over at the spider who was wearing the most mischievous grin.

The answer was, a long time. Husk found himself behind the bar downstairs, claws still as beautifully painted as they were a few days prior. Cherri had commented on them, Niffty had commented on them, even Alastor asked about them. Angel told Husk he’d take the polish off right away if it chipped, and truth be told this polish was stronger than Husk expected. It wasn’t until the next week the first chip appeared, by then though, Angel’s work had grown on Husk. If Husk didn’t mention the polish chipped for another two days, Angel didn’t care to mention it either.
