Khn and Klek were always fascinated by human cuisine and culture. They have traveled through different planets but they think that the Earth is the best one, by food.
After they did their last performance for the day, the both of them were tired. Not sleepy, just tired. They never understood this feeling after each performance they gave.
Humans were always interested in the way Khn and Klek spoke in their everyday conversation. They were once interviewed about it but all they said was, “It is the way we understand together.”
Always full of clicks and sometimes screeching..not always pleasant to the ear of others but pleasant to the ears to those who understand.
Khn and Klek arrived in their home, quite messy I might say. They'd have random objects lying around just for them to look at. Their home was considered as messy to the human eye, but to them? It's just full of memories and artifacts they wish to bring back to their home planet.
But ever since they came here on Earth, they never took their eyes off of the shining tin can of sardines. They love sardines, so they made a song about it! (Sarhardnieh 👀)
Khn was tired of eating sardines everyday even though he loves it more than Klek.
Klek loves hotdogs more than Khn, though Khn dislikes hotdogs.
While the stores are open, they both decide..Why not eat something sweet today?
“Klek. I want to try..Those covered food. I am not sure what they are called. I know what it looks like.” Khn tried demonstrating the thing to Klek.
Klek understood quickly, “Oh. That food? I only see the small humans consume them more than big humans.”
Khn clicked in agreement. Khn and Klek were only here to explore and to see what this planet has to offer.
“I am sure it will be delicious. I have seen how they look after consuming them. They smile.” Klek remarks.
“Let us go outside and get that.” Khn responded.
Klek nodded.
The night air was cool and cold, the streets were bustling in the morning but when it is night, the streets go silent. The only thing they heard were the wings flapping of the birds and faint footsteps.
“There. The store is open. Do you think it has the food we are looking for?” Klek asked Khn, pointing towards a convenience store.
“Yes. They do have it. I know.” Khn answered.
The doors slide open, Khn accidentally hits his hat on the door. Klek said “Khn. Be careful, They do not have big doors for us.”
The cashier looked at them amazed and shocked and thought to themselves, ”What the hell are they wearing??”
They both roam around the store until Klek spots it.
The food they were looking for is…
Candy.
Kleks eyes sparkled and held it to his face to look in closer. He asked Khn to come here.
Khn looked at it and asked, “Is it this?”
“Yes!” Klek answered gleefully.
They both came to the cashier to buy it, the cashier stared at them and asked “is this it? One chocolate bar?”
Klek and Khn nodded in unison. “Alright.” the cashier
scans the barcode, “That would be 1 dollar.”
Khn gives the bill and they both leave the store.
As they come back home, excited to try the chocolate bar, they set it down on the table and stared at it in awe for a moment again.
“Should we open it? Khn?” Klek asked.
“Yes! We should. I want to try it. It looks interesting.” Khn responded.
Klek reaches for the chocolate bar, briefly caressing it because Klek is heavily interested on the textures and Khn is more interested in snacks and food.
As soon Klek opened the chocolate bar, Khn took a smell at it. Bringing Khn to click in glee.
(as that means in their language they like it or something)
Khn held the end of the chocolate bar, “Klek, Hold the other end. We will break it in half.”
Klek nodded and held the other end.
Snap!
Klek ate it first and his eyes sparkled. This was their first time trying candy and it was a great experience.
Khn took a nibble, shocked at how sweet it was.
It was sweet and reminded him of home.
“It's delicious!” Klek exclaimed and held Khn by the shoulders and slightly shook him.
“Ah! I know! It's good!” Khn exclaimed aswell, holding Kleks shoulders.
Khn laughed and so did Klek. They both knew each other very well, ever since they were young. And both of them knew that they would love it.
They really enjoyed the chocolate bar and it reminded them of their home planet a few million light years away from Earth.
