Chapter Text
It was a sunny evening in St. James Park, Asafell and Anthony had been feeding the ducks frozen peas. It was calm, peaceful, the perfect life.
“So..I’ve been thinking,” Anthony started.
“Oh? Can only bring trouble when you do that”
Anthony giggled, “Just- listen.” He let out a nervous breath of air “We’ve been together a long time now and we already spend most of our time together and I would like to spend the rest of our time together. Y’know we could always rely on eachother..we’re a team, a group. Group of the two of us. Erm- anyways ah what time trying to say is,” Anthony paused his speech, the words had felt oddly familiar, like he had said them before but he didn’t think too hard on it as he got down on one knee as Asafell gasped. “Will you marry me?”
Asafell moved his hand to his mouth, tears escaping from his eyes as he vigorously nodded his head, “yes! Oh my stars, yes!” He cried out as Anthony rose back up, placing his hands on Asafell's cheeks and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
“That was terrifying.” Anthony chuckled out, "Seriously, I’m too old for my heart to be beating this fast!”
Asafell reached his hand on Anthony's chest “Ha! You weren’t lying, you’re such a baby. You could’ve been a stranger and I’d say yes.” Asafell let his hand fall into Anthony’s as he leaned into him. The two were so focused on each other they hadn’t noticed the sun setting, its orange hues that blended into deep reds and rosy pinks reflected onto the pond perfectly.
“Look, a nightingale” Anthony pointed out, Asafell smiled at him and hummed “A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square”
“How about dinner? At the ritz.”
“Sounds perfect” Anthony placed a kiss on Asafell's head whilst they strolled to the ritz, a perfect end to a perfect day.

“I remember that day like it was yesterday.” Asa reminisced as he brewed two cups of hot cocoa. Asa laughed, getting an odd stare from Anthony. “You were so scared,” he wiped a tear of laughter from his eye, “seriously! I could see it written on your face all day in London. You weren’t very sneaky about it.”
“Oh, whatever.” Anthony snarked back while grabbing the mug of cocoa that Asa handed to him.
“You were so nervous, you had me thinking I was going to have to propose to you that day!”
Anthony didn’t dignify this remark much of a response, he just shot Asa a look and murmured, “okay, Angel”
“Angel?” Asa slightly cocked his head to the side.
Anthony paused, “sorry, too much? It just sounded right.” Anthony gave a sideways smile with a slight grimace in his eyes.
“No, no. It’s nice” Asa smiled at Anthony, easing his anxiety.
“Let’s go in the garden, there’s been some sightings of snowy owls being reported lately, we may spot one if we’re lucky!” Before Anthony could even open his mouth to respond Asa grabbed his hand and dragged him into the wooden lawn chairs in the garden.
Asa wasn’t really looking for any snowy owls, he was rather busy thinking about what Anthony had called him. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with it, he rather enjoyed it. It was a cute nickname but there was just something about it that sounded so oddly familiar to him. Maybe he had known someone with a similar nickname when he was younger?
That was the only excuse Asa could come up with and he was sure Anthony hadn’t called him Angel before, at least he didn't think so but…maybe he had? Perhaps when they first met. Asa didn’t dwell on the thought much longer, he just looked at Anthony as he stood and welcomed his warm embrace as a hard snow started to fall.
“Let’s go inside, it’s miserable out here.” Anthony managed to say through shivering teeth.
Once inside, Asa began to wash the mugs in the sink, the cups were a matching set, one was a canary yellow and the other was a sky blue, both had wildflowers scattered on the button of the mug. As Asa put the mugs back in the cabinet he held the yellow one a second longer. Asa had always loved the color yellow, in his eyes it was one of the most beautiful colors.
Asa smiled as he put the mug away and closed the cabinet, following Anthony to the couch to watch a film.
“Doctor who again?” Asa groaned, sliding onto the couch, “we’ve watched it so many times!”
“We’ve watched it so many times because it’s a good show, you can't deny it.”
“It gets pretty boring once you’ve seen it five times..”
“You know you like it.” This made Asa smile, he did enjoy it, but he wouldn’t accept defeat so easily. “How about this, you can pick what we watch next time.”
“About time.” Asa murmured as he fell into Anthony's arm and the sweet embrace of sleep slowly claimed him whilst Anthony watched the television intently, as if he’d been watching the show for the first time again.
All the odd and familiar things faded away as they fell asleep, their energy absorbing into one another, as if they were made to be together. Always and forever.
