Unsanctioned Field Trip

Summary:

When Ryland Grace is unexpectedly blasted into space on a suicide mission, not everything can be smoothed over. Someone forgot to tell the school he works at that Mr. Grace is taking a leave of absence. Left scrambling, Eva turns to her very own Hail Mary. Grace had a brother, and if the rumors are true, he's still alive.

Colt Seavers is in a bind. Exonerated, he can return to his old life. Only...there's not really a life for him anymore. He and Jody broke up, directors are hesitant to hire him, and money is running low. So when an offer arrives, shrouded in more mystery than the plots of every spy movie he's worked on, he takes it. It comes with a lot of money, and all he has to do is take his brother's place as an 8th grade science teacher. Should be easy, right?

IM WRITING IT I SWEAR!!!

 

So many people have been replying to my comment that I've now decided (as someone suggested) to make a prologue of sorts. This chapter will remain up as a placeholder until the real chapter 1 is posted. I've already begun writing it. As of right now, I have no final chapter count, but we're looking at somewhere in the 40+ range at least. This is going to be a slow fic, because I really want to take the time to flesh everything out. Obviously, in the real world, there's no way a government plant taking the place of his brother as an 8th grade teacher would manage to essentially kidnap an entire class of kids and bring them into space in search of their real teacher. It's not happening. But I want to write this in a way that feels like it could happen. Realistically, we're not seeing a launch date until probably chapter 25 unless I change my outline. As always, be kind, be patient! This is my first fic and I want to make it a good one for y'all.
