Chapter Text
Miyeon Sang’s Pov
“An absolute angel” That's what everyone called ahn in their trainee years, and in the past, that's what miyeon would have thought as well.. but the thing is, this little angel was in her cell. Ahn never tried in their missions. During their first 5 missions, encountering death and what did she do to help? She only gave a laughable amount of essence to support. She was basically useless…right?
But..the universe has a twisted way of making Sang confused and hopeless. She saw her cellmate die, by an old man. Miyeon couldn’t react fast enough, the old man was coming after her. “If only miyeon was a little bit faster..” that would’ve been her last words but Ahn came in, literally melting this old man’s skin and taking all his essence, instantly killing him. The mentor had gotten angry with Ahn again.
After that encounter, Miyeon noticed that Ahn had changed. She started to not just help as a support. But also attacked as if being a yellow essence didn't stop her. Sang loved that about her. Soon, it was only her and ahn left, 2 other new people replaced their other team members but they were basically useless. Didn't do damage, nor support, and didn’t even listen. This time, when they died from a bomb, Sang just stared at them, thinking, “Oh. They died because they were useless” and that's where her twisted mindset came in and that's when she became a literal killing machine.
Over the following years, climbing the ranks, they were now level 4, after grueling kills and being hunted over and over. Sang realized that Ahn was going to die someday, and miyeon decided that she cant be too close to ahn. It would hurt her if she did die, and Miyeon knew that once ahn hit level 5, Ahn would be a yellow tie, completely away from Miyeon’s department, the fighters. That meant that Sang had to get used to other people.. That sounded difficult but she could do it. The new months went by quick, and sang had left ahn completely?.. She had found new friends to adapt to her plans, and ahn did the same. They never really interacted until they had their graduation party.
Sang was watching everyone drink, she didn't want to drink, that meant her guard would lower down and make her weak, and she knew she was a lightweight.
She was staring at ahn, across the room who was currently surrounded by people. Her heart fluttered, she knew that once she left ahn, ahn would be popular as she was pretty, charismatic and..
Miyeon’s eyes shot forward, what was she thinking about? Her eyes furrowed. She and ahn are just friends. Nothing more, Nothing less.
Miyeon noticed that Ahn was also staring across her, and Miyeon's eyes quickly snapped away. She didn’t wish to look at Ahn’s white surreal eyes once again. It was addicting actually. Miyeon’s breath stopped when Ahn excused herself from her table, and started walking towards her..?
“Hey, how have you been.. Miyeon?” Ahn slid over calmly, her tone so calm and soothing.
“Ive been good, I heard that your quite popular with your patients”
“Yes” Ahn smiled, “They tend to be a mess of all sorts..but its fine”
Miyeon raised an eyebrow, and thinked, “Was Ahn always this…calm?... When she and ahn were partners, ahn would not have lots of patienc-”
“Are you thinking again?” Ahn’s eyes wandered to Miyeon's face, "You shouldn't.. It's the big night. The night, you become a real person with power. Enjoy it”
When did Hayoon get so good at talking to people..
“I..”
“ Miyeon..” Ahn looked at her,“Are you glad? We are now level 5, what's your goal now .. Sang?”
“My goal?.. I want to train strong trainee’s.. I bet that you will become a healer for the main building.. I want to be a teacher.. The closest thing to my abnormal dream.”
(she wanted to be someone in law)
Ahn smiled and closed her eyes, “One thing you should remember..Miyeon.. That is, you should think about how you feel sometimes, about emotions and just in general” Ahn twirled her hair, “You always try to be the person who is sacrificed. But.. that's not going to work, miyeon. You're the strategist for the future, and people will listen to you, Be careful and don't get yourself killed” Ahn lowered her eyes, “I don't wish to see you injured, when I have to be the one to heal you, knowing that you probably already had died.”
“Ahn.. I..” Miyeon fidgeted with her hands,
she was thinking.. But ahn intercepted her thinking, “You can just take it for advice, no need to answer it.”
Suddenly, Sang grew very curious about Ahn. During the years they spent, they never really got to talk. So Sang wanted to know just a little bit more about Ahn. Before they separate.
“I never got to know about your essence.. Could…could you tell me?” Miyeon asked softly. Not quite sure If ahn would tell her, everyone knew that she was so secretive an-
“Of course, my essence is obviously yellow, and you’d think it's a support. It's called the touch of life. As you know, I can give essence, but I can also take. Usually, I don't take essence, only if I'm in danger. I'm not useless, miyeon.”
Miyeon was taken aback, Ahn not only told her, but explained it so.. Descriptively just for her.
They talked about life, goals and more. But, what else could they talk about? Ahn was taken away from her friends. And sang never got to say what she really wanted to say. And that would forever haunt her till her last breath.
____________________________________________________________
That memory actually did haunt her.
She was in her office, talking to a trainee but suddenly.. The trainee died in front of her, normally. It's not a big deal, but she suddenly noticed another aberrant nearby. She quickly activated her essence, Summoning a shield, and quickly used her neon hands and captured the killer’s body. Snapping it, and quickly killing him.
Sang sighed, and looked at the trainee’s body, she quickly reported to the headquarters and then killed the other two that were waiting beside her, about to strike her. Sang wasn’t dumb, she is level 9 for a literal reason.
All of the sudden, an explosion went nearby and she got hit by a long, metal pipe.
CLANG - She dropped to the floor, and healed herself and quickly side dashed and was about to kill the killer. But.. The killer looked similar to officer ahn, ah.. White hair, and even those white eyes.. All the memories flashed before her and that little hesitation got her hit straight into a metal pipe.
(NO GUYS - ITS NOT MIN)
Hayoon Ahn’s Pov
Officer Ahn had always known that Miyeon was special. The way that sang carried herself, even after everyone beside them had died in their cell. The way that sang always had a plan b, the way sang used everyone to their potential, the way that sang always had a weird habit of pushing people away. Dear god, Ahn was in L#VE
But the past is irrelevant. Miyeon had grown distant. Ever since they had become officers, Miyeon never called Ahn by her first name. Ahn hated that. She wished that she could go to the past, just to experience her and miyeon’s friendship before it went downhill.
Ahn was in her office once more, far away from the main building, treating some girl she probably won't remember. All of a sudden, this.. this girl grabbed her shoulder. Asking if she had a chance to live in this harsh environment.
Ahn smiled, being fake, “Of course you can! You also need to train, learn and obs-”
“No. I meant.. ?????????????????????????”
Silly Ahn. This useless interaction was years ago.
Ahn closed her eyes, wanting to black out this memory. She can't be emotional. She has to be ready for anything, just like her old mentor had said.
RING. RING. RING!
Ahn looked down at her phone, she saw a mission. A hostage was ??? and they put Ahn on this mission.
“What” Ahn had thought to herself, Yellows aren’t supposed to be told to go on missions..and if they were, there would be a second name.. To help and fight-
Shit. The main building was either hacked or attacked.
Ahn ran out of the place, and soon replied.
“Who are you?” Ahn was rapidly texting, “Did you hack in?”
“I heard that..you’re quite close with Officer Sang.”
Officer Ahn, squeezed her phone. Miyeon could defend herself just well, she was level 9 for god sake!.. She had exhausted herself in their trainee years. No way would she lose to someo-
On the other end of the text, they sent a photo of Miyeon tied up, bleeding.
Officer Ahn’s heart stopped. She rushed into the main building, her throat becoming dry. She hoped that Miyeon wasn’t in extreme danger, like dying.
“ Miyeon! Are you there?” Ahn yelled, running through the building. Activating her essence, she checked for enemies and (surprisingly...There wasn’t any other injured person except for Sang.) She encountered many inconveniences but easily dealt with it. She didn't rise to level 8 by sitting like a useless support.
She was in Miyeon’s office, seeing her body. She quickly scanned the place, making sure no aberrant was near, then finally she quietly opened the door. She gasped, the sight of miyeon bleeding.. hurted her.
“Miyeon! Are you okay” Ahn ran over, and started healing her.
“...Hayoon..?” Miyeon’s glasses were broken. Everything was blurry. Except for her old friend, Hayoon. That looked like an absolute angel.
Ahn softly asked, “Miyeon, can you tell me what happened when you were attacked?” Ahn patiently waited for her answer
“I…was attacked by a dirty metal pipe. I healed most of my injuries but.. It seemed like they didn't want me to die. I didn't sense killing intent.” Miyeon’s eyes snapped, “ I think they were there to lure y-”
“Oh. You catch on quick”
“Hayoon.. Watch OU-!” That was the last thing, officer Ahn heard. Before everything went dark and hazy.
“Hayoon Ahn!” her old mentor appeared before her eyes, “THAT WAS DANGEROUS! WHY WERE YOU TRYING TO BE A SHIELD. YOU ARE TO STAY IN THE BACK YOU ARE THE HEALER”
(Hayoon thought, I didn't even do anything. I only melted that old man’s skin and killed him, to save miyeon . Worth it)
Ah, yes. For as long as Ahn could remember, her mentor was always so worried about her…? (Bullshit, this was probably another spy to see if she was acting up again.)
“Hayoon!” Her mentor was exasperated. Flinging his hands up, “You and your little squad, mostly, only 1 out of you 4 will live! AHN, Don't you understand? You can't save everyone!” He choked, “The rate of you dying is 80%, hear that? 80%,so I suggest, stop being stubborn and just listen!”
Hayoon thought, "most of us?" That means maybe she can be with Miyeon. From that day on Hayoon started taking things seriously
Now Hayoon and Miyeon are the ones left alive. Hayoon and Miyeon are different from the others. They do not fit the system's rules. Hayoon and Miyeon were special, from the start.
This is part 1. Part 2 is coming soon!
