Mitoko: her family has a strong tradition of the eldest child joining the military. This has been going on in her family for generations. The problem is Mitoko had bad anxiety which made it impossible to join the military. She would’ve been the first one to break the tradition in like 400 years and she did NOT want that. Her wish to Kyubey was that she wasn’t afraid of anything anymore and had the courage to do whatever she wanted. The downside of this was that this makes her a very impulsive and reckless fighter.
Kyou: one of, if not, the top student in her whole school. Kyou has always been the smart person in her family—it was all she was known for. But all the pressure on her caused a significant dip in her academics. This really upset Kyou because what was she if not smart? Her wish to Kyubey was to know everything. The downside of this is that she literally knew EVERYTHING. I don’t think I need to explain further.
Arisu: growing up poor, Arisu never had a lot—sure, she was kind to everyone and there wasn’t a single soul on the face of the earth that had anything negative to say about her. But what is generosity when you have nothing to give? Her family did eventually manage to get back on their feet. Arisu never wanted anyone to feel like she had as a child. Her wish to Kyubey was that she could give anyone what they wanted. The downside was she started to feel used and began seeing people as just selfish.
