Kunigami lost.
The Devil stops dancing and makes his choice, and Kunigami knows it’s his own fault, knows it’s because he wasn’t good enough, but he still can’t stop the pit that floods him. It’s only him and Shidou—who looks bored, disinterested, even a little angry—left on the pitch. Kunigami isn’t quite sure how that happened; when that happened; if it is happening at all.
Shidou, who wrenches Kunigami up by the jaw, who knocks his teeth to Kunigami’s until he growls involuntarily, who spits, “Bye-bye, hero.”
Who leaves. In a kinder world, this story would end here.
