The light illuminated the room as the door slid open gently. It creaked quietly, as if it was whispering. Xiao had come home after a night of fighting the abyssal monsters bleeding into Teyvat. His body trembling as he limped towards where Aether, his husband, rested.
Xiao arrived on Aether’s side of their shared bed and leaned over, gently laying a kiss on Aether’s forehead.
“I missed you..” Aether whispered, his eyes still closed as if he wanted to savor this moment forever.
“I’ll be in bed soon, I just need to take a shower first.” Xiao acknowledged, moving away from Aether’s face. Aether nodded and turned away, hugging a pillow.
{AFTER THE SHOWER}
Aether stared at Xiao as he walked back into the bedroom. His hair tied back, water still dripping down his defined abs, and his black towel so low on his waist his iliac crest was visible.
Xiao put on a loose shirt and a pair of underwear then laid in bed next to Aether. He moved the pillow Aether was hugging behind himself and wrapped his arms around Aether’s waist.
“I love you.” Aether whispered.
“I love you too.” Xiao whispered back, pulling Aether into a kiss. Aether wrapped his arms around Xiao’s neck, pushing his tongue into Xiao’s mouth. Xiao opened his mouth just enough for Aether’s tongue to fit inside as if he knew the exact measurement needed. They’ve done this many times before but it never felt old, not even once. It is as if they’ve done this for the first time again and again.
